The URL for your image includes a space. That won't work.
  2. I currently have 4 functional boards, but I'm trying to sell one. I think 3 is the perfect number, not counting fr/fs boards. One short SL board (10m), one general purpose short-GS board (12-14m), and one big GS/SG board (15-17m).

  5. Haven't heard anything. Madd is very small and has a history of going in and out of production - it's more like a project than a company.

I've posted this work-around like 4 times now. Upload your pic to www.tinypic.com. Copy the link for forums. Paste it in your post. Done. Fin is working with his hosting service to resolve this. However with the above work-around available, this isn't a showstopper.
  7. what is an Italian brat??
  8. Volkl 173. Psst... it's metal! But more importantly it will be easier to transition from softies as you won't have to run as high angles, and it will be more stable. I believe it is also softer than the Madd, so more forgiving. The Madd is very skinny and thus quick edge to edge, and would feel very twitchy to a beginner carver.
  9. if you can find a copy of Burton's "Scream of Consciousness" (c. 1992) on ebay or somewhere, there is a segment with ok SG footage, including a run by Jeff Brushie of all people. It's a good vid otherwise too. There is a great powder scene in the trees with Craig Kelly and Shannon Melhuse - SM in hardboots on a Rossi VAS 173 (pretty sure). Made me jones to ride. I would think these days with the ability to build hyper-damp metal SG boards (HB SillyGood??) that SG could make a comeback.
  10. I used to think that until I rode one. I think part of the idea is that towards the end of the turn, your weight is typically shifted more to the tail. So a tighter sidecut on the front half of the board compensates for the fact that there's less pressure up there. However I think for getting tight turns done on narrow steeps, a board with a constant or front-to-back back symmetrical sidecut would be better because it wants to finish the turns more aggressively. That was the first thing I noticed when stepping off the NSR back onto my Schtubby - even though it has a relatively long sidecut for a 171 (14.2m), it really wanted to continue coming around in the bottom half of each turn. The NSR allowed me to make a normal top half of the turn and then "surf out" the bottom half. I think this is what our bodies and minds naturally want to do when making bigger turns, and that this sidecut configuration works better for that.
  11. ~tb + 1. And I'd like to point out the irony here... snowboard manufacturers have been advertising sidecut radius (or equivalent) since about 1990, iirc. It wasn't until relatively recently that sidecut radius would be published by ski companies, printed on skis, or mentioned in ski magazine reviews. At the same time, snowboard racers have gone back to simply referring to a sidecut as "PGS" or "SL", and the numbers are back to being secret. Ha. Well when you consider that a traditional radial sidecut ceases to be radial when it is up on edge, the door is open to lots of different shapes.
  12. I agree that GH1 is a cool package. Basically all you give up is a TTL viewfinder and phase-detect auto-focus. Not insignificant things, but you end up with a very compact DSLR with no mirror slap, good live view, and a neat selection of lenses. The 12-60 f/2.8 - f/4 (24-120mm effective) gets good reviews and is very versatile. I've also read that the contrast-detect auto-focus works quite well, on par with entry-level DSLRs. And with HD video it could be the only camera you'd ever need!
  13. ok seriously, no talk of a kegerator? and you call yourself a man? ;) Pat, very nice!!
  14. I agree he is the best drummer in any pop band right now. I also thought The Samples' Jeep Macnichol was right up there too.
  15. That's a different scenario, and I agree that from local machine to local machine, a wired connection is faster of course. But regular cable broadband internet service is only about 8 Mbps. Business class cable is around 15 Mbps. 802.11n is around 160 Mbps. That's my only point. So if the concern is internet speed, there's little argument for ethernet over wifi unless you have a T1 or fiber. I have an Apple Airport Extreme router and it has a USB port for printer sharing or NAS. I have a USB drive hooked up to it. But when I need to move large quantities of data to that drive, plugging it right into the laptop is way way faster. As for security, anyone who's smart enough to get into your secured wifi network is probably also smart enough to get into your wired network or sniff your packets or whatever. It's like the locks on your doors - anyone who wants to get past them will. Skategoat - sounds like you need the air then, cool!
  16. 802.11n is faster than standard broadband internet. I haven't done a wired vs. wireless test, but it seems to keep up quite well with our business-grade service. I used to work for Ingersoll-Rand... compressed air as a source of power is hugely more expensive than electricity. You only use it if you have to, like for the torque, or in an explosive environment.

  18. Coiler Schtubby X3 171 x 21 x 14.2. Does it all.
  19. Seen the RED Scarlet? http://www.red.com/epic_scarlet/ It's on my "when I'm independently wealthy" list. If RED ever figures out how to make this thing for $2500, Canon and Nikon will suddenly be fighting for their lives.

And then a third time, on TV in the court of mob opinion, where all that matters is the allegation.
  21. I can neither confirm nor deny these allegations.

right, so I think blackmail is the more probable and simpler explanation.
