  1. Right, it depends on your boot size and what angles you like to ride. If you don't know what angles you like, 55 to 60 is pretty common. A 27.5 boot is most likely a 27.0 shell. For example, I ride size 28 boots, at 60 and 58 degrees on a 21cm wide board.
  2. Yep, we'll be back at Stratton. Dates are not firm yet, but around the same time. We are also pretty confident that Fin & Michelle will be there!
  3. Shred you ignorant slut! ;) Nice new ride ya got there.
  4. it's a toy for use on sledding hills. they're actually good for balance development.
  5. Welcome! Check out the links in my signature...
  6. BB, you need to fix your friend's reach for the snow and the bend at the waist. The Norm to the rescue!!
  7. awesome, but I'm calling it a 167.
  8. I don't like the idea that it is anyone's responsibility other than the individual's to be informed about the value of an item and to conduct transactions accordingly. I don't think BOL (the members or moderators) should be responsible for protecting people from their own ignorance. People should be responsible for themselves. If the profiteer happens to get noticed and publicly shamed, that's fine, but people shouldn't expect this kind of protection. I agree that it is cheesy to flip gear among friends or within a "club" such as BOL. I was also put off when the winner of a new Coiler in the ECES raffle turned right around and sold it. But that's their prerogative. The thought of making policies against such action and enforcing them offends my inner libertarian. Although I think we could have a policy against a pattern of such behavior.
  9. 400 supermarket coupons. You know, the ones that say "cash value 1/100 of a cent".
  10. Not sure what is going on, I don't see the deleted thread stub. Could be a database issue.
  11. I didn't like the width of those boots. They were merely my "payment" for being on the Sugarloaf demo team. (lol) It's worth finding out for sure, but man, just looking at my dad's Kryptons they look a heck of a lot narrower than I remember my Langes.
  12. Oh... I would try Catek directly or get Flows before paying more than retail.
  13. wonder if Zaiira is anything like Azdel...
  14. MSRP on the Catek FR2 Pro EVO is $449. You are paying for the materials, assembly, engineering, imagination, and passion that went into creating the highest performing freeride binding in the world. Relatively few people are capable of appreciating it. Supply and demand. Pay to play. I'd suggest that if you want them, you politely pay the man and congratulate yourself for supporting a US manufacturer that supports the sport you love.
  15. The black Thermoflex liners were too thin and resulted in heel lift for me and others. I replaced those with my old gray thermoflex and then everything was fine. The new red Thermoflex liners are just like the good old gray ones. I've had no problems with my BTS.
  16. Those Nordicas felt significantly narrower than the Langes to me. You just described my T700s with BTS.

  18. I was struck by how all of a sudden my boots felt softer when riding my Boiler Plate. Stiffer boots could work well on a plate. However since I only have one plate and two boards (and I don't swap the plate back and forth), looks like I will have to settle for the least common denominator.
  19. I'm also interested to hear what you say about the Kryptons, JD, as they look like a perfect solution for mixing it up with skiing with the kids. My only concern is that they look quite narrow...? My dad skis in them and loves them. (and he's good)
  20. I agree with BlueB's assessment, also not having used them. Hinge seems very high. Although this does allow the ankle buckle to be in a good location. I don't like how the bottom of your heel sits on top of where the binding bail goes. Presumably this is to further reduce sole-length. In my experience this won't matter because it is the overall boot length that determines clearance. So, this non-fix simply leads to a ton of ramp angle. By comparison, Deeluxe's hinge seems a little lower, but the ankle strap is still in a great spot. also, red is faster than orange. ;)
