  1. After I told him how loose helmets tend to fly off after the first impact, he thought it was dumb.
  2. What is with these people wearing their goggles or/and their hats under their helmets? Then in order to put their goggles up they have to push their whole helmet back. In order to do that, they have to wear it loosely. Loose helmets are known to fly off after the first hit in a crash.
  3. (I've already sent tb regards over email and fb) Good. The stiffer the shell, the more energy transmitted to the padding/liner and your skull. Dang, sorry to hear that Chris, was looking forward to seeing you at ECES. Get well soon to all!
  4. He is racing. I hear racers are particular about boots.
  5. If you want more forward flex you can cut off some of the rear of the top of the lower boot... know what I mean?
  6. Guys, we could really use your support. If you are coming, please sign up ASAP: http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=36386
  7. Nice video and review Gabe, good work, thanks!
  8. QFT. However to be fair we only have one side of the story. I suppose, in the realm of everything, it is possible that the wife was fraught with emotion and unintentionally but severely endangering the rescue. But so far it is not sounding good for the EMTs.
  9. Just horrible. I'm having a very hard time imagining any excuse for the ambulance kicking the wife to the roadside.

  11. Thanks fellow photographer! :D Sugarloaf is less than 50% open - 71 out of 153 "trail sections", or 362 out of 1056 "developed acres". Ironically these percentages would probably be higher if ski areas in general would be more honest about their trail counts. But what is open is in a lot better shape than it was just a week ago thanks to some natural snow (making the whole mountain look white) and cold temps for snowmaking.
  12. This site will never be allowed to be anything like TGR.
  13. Haha, ok I see.... you got that pic from the same site as I did. The funny part is I think both look like they could have been us. Although I never had glasses.
  14. 5:30pm. Sugarloaf got 7" in a storm on Thursday, which helped a lot. Brought out my plated 185 for the first time this season. However there are still no natural snow trails or glades open, and there won't be without another 2 or 3 storms. Sugarloaf is doing a commendable job with the snowmaking and grooming. Yeah, that's payback from Fin for me giving him the guy holding the kitty cat in the Santa Clause hat avatar before Christmas. I'll play along for a day or so. I love that it appears he still hasn't figured out that I changed his *profile* pic like a year ago... http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/member.php?u=1
  15. (only if you count the acreage that is unusable until March.)
  16. Actually the snow is quite blue. If I make it white (well, grey) the picture becomes less exciting, and also not like what I saw. 5DII, 35L, exposure compensation -2/3. Shot in raw, "developed" in Canon Digital Photo Professional. I just tweaked contrast (-1) and saturation (+1) a little bit.
  17. Thanks Barry. Indeed, Fawcett was the man. Good skiing technique certainly brings a lot to alpine snowboarding technique, and vice versa. But I have never liked this PSIA notion of downward pressure or sideways pressure. No such thing man. If your board is carving, it doesn't matter if you are hunched over in a "bad C", or executing a perfect "good C", or touching your toes, or standing bone straight like a pole, or riding backwards. You are pressuring the board in exactly one direction. It is the precisely the single direction that balances gravity and centripetal force. If your center of mass is on that line, you will carve, no matter how silly you look, and all your "pressure" will be going straight down that line into the snow. What makes one body position better than another is if it allows you to maintain or recover that balance when the snow surface gives way or tries to knock you over. Agreed. Pointing the light down the fall line is obsolete technique if the goal is round, C-shaped carves that start and finish perpendicular to the fall line. That goes for skiers and snowboarders. Haha, no way, skiers are welcome here! :D
  18. You can definitely start down the carving path in softboots. If you don't have any other carvers to ride with and help get you started, check out the articles in the links in my signature. Here are "the most bad-ass softboots": http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=36010 If Rob Stevens says so, you can take it to the bank. Good luck!

The hotel staff must be happy for the business.
  20. My boots are on the big side and the stock liner had lots of heel lift. The 141 took up that extra volume for me. http://www.bomberonline.com/store/accessories/hpd_liner.cfm
