  1. I've asked Apex on how to mount plate long time ago. I was mostly asking about axle width and plate positioning for regular carving on 180cm board. I've also asked to measure distance from tail to plate, to have reference for front-back positioning. I was also using 4x4 mount at a time. UPM mount only gives you 2-3 options. Here's full quote: From what I remember, there are three holes in the front and two in the back. Answer above pretty much rules out one hole on the back (use front only) and one hole in the front (rear, so use front or middle one). I was mounting both mounts symmetrically (i.e. 1/5 position on front and rear) on both end. The procedure was the the following: 1. Insert pins so they stick out to the side of plate. 2. Match rear ping with hole on the rear mount. 3. Match front pin in the beginning of slide. It will move forward when you turn. 4. Move all that construction so mounts are symmetrical around board inserts. Figure out what mount holes to use, and what holes on 4x4 mounts to use. 5. Mount em. Don't tighten yet. 6. Put plate normally, insert all four pins. 7. Push on top of the plate to make sure it slides. 8. Remove plate and pins and tighten everything. 9 Attach plate and bindings on top. Add spacers on the inside/outside if needed I usually went through steps 6-8 to make sure everything is straight. May be it wasn't necessary, but it's better safe than sorry.
  2. I'd trade my Coiler plus cash for this
  3. Not enough adjust-ability. It rotates is like 5-6 deg. Even if you rotate it 20-30, you'll gain support only on one side. Steep angles with softboots work in powder, but not on hardpack. Any BX board will work better than ATV with softboots imho.
  4. How does Apex work for free carving? I'm aware that all the racers use it, but does it work in less than perfect conditions? I remember reading about snow/ice getting underneath the plate and etc. That's not the case with UPM plates obviously.
  5. Are you sure ATV is 23.5 waist? I thought it's less then that. You'd be fine with angles, I was running 45/30 on U198, but softboots/bindings will be limiting factor with those angles.
  6. How often you're riding in Boyne? Wanna get there this season, but it's 7hr drive from Chicago, compared to 4-5hr flight to Denver
  7. I got my Coiler based on mens GS board: shorter but wider @ 180/21 with 13-16m radius and it works great. Needless to say I got myself Virus and wasn't riding coiler since then. ps. I also blame @b.freefor that.
  8. That's stock SG graphics for that season
  9. I can only think of resorts. No big mountains, lots of local resorts, with green-blue runs. Plus they somehow carving popular.
  10. Is there a consensus on recommended zip fit? Grand Prix? Would like to check em out in person, but would prefer to know what to look for? Also, size up or down?
  11. Is it that bad though? Asking from Chicago
  12. Hm.. Mind you asking if you tried swallowtail before? Long one with big cut out and long nose? (Not like Johnes Storm chaser or such).
  13. Im trying to think of any reason to take furberg over swallowtail in "wide open bowl".
  14. By Cigar shape you mean traditional board with nose, smaller waist and tail? Well, then you'll need furberg snowboard, or something like venturi euphoria. Other then that... number of swallowtails: undertaker is more or less traditional. Winterstick is crazy and fun one.
  15. I got NS Chairman 173 that I won is NS contest few years back. #00001 serial for that year. Got a few days on it, borrowed to friednds few times, but mostly sitting unused, since I ride alpine most of the time.
  16. Cheers to another one rider from Chicago I don't have geckos, but I still have a pair of Elevators somewhere.
  17. Welcome to the forum. Find yourself comfortable boots (UPZ for example), F2 Race ti is the goto bindings and look for a some board. Depending on how much you're going to spend you might go for a beginner or better setup. I'm located in Chicago, but ride in Wisconsin mostly, was considering trip to Boyne (highlands), but that's 5hr away from here. Post in local forums to find someone from Michicago. I bet there're few people riding in midwest
  18. Was in the cinema yesterday. Surprised to see that Montucky part was 2-3x smaller tham any other part. Expected to see @b.free laying down on his Virus, but nothing there.
  19. I'll take em. PM coming
  20. Speedster = race models. Equipe = entry level, no metal WC = Titanal Proto = Pro team (even stiffer?) Then: SL = slalon (153,157,163) RS = GS (169-185) Speedster GTS = All round model AFAIK.
  21. Hi. I got Burton Elevators, that have 3D pattern. You'll be able to mount any regular 4x4 bindings on board with 3D. And vise versa IIRC. Elevators are in storage, but I can get there if you want pics.
  22. I got something similar. Soft-ish pad block on the nose on my Apex plate Haven't tried it without it, but doubt it will do alot though. I think it was there to keep snow from under the plate.
  23. Damn, I'm sorry, haven't communicated well. I'm looking for Bruce from mt. Turner, not Coiler.
  24. You can see few additional pictures here: https://imgur.com/ZhvhTwp https://imgur.com/be9lgF9 It was widened by a few mm to accommodate flat foot. You can see area marked here on this pic: https://imgur.com/JQ5NMQJ about 1-1 1/2" Here's a picture of boots side by side, but boots aren't perfectly alligned: https://imgur.com/t7KnAhS I can take some more pictures if you want me to
