  1. Meh! I have been looking but got tired of waiting and when I found a well priced set of NX2 CXs I bought them, arrived this week. I will follow the reviews with interest.
  2. Careful what you ask for, you could have a lot of visitors Great book, you’ve lived an amazing life … respect!
  3. Thank you Dred - I enjoyed the book very much.

    Pity about the view!
  5. Thanx Neil! None the less I have appreciated all of the above comments, thank you all. Any ideas on when they will be released? There is nothing available anywhere at the moment, that I can see.
  6. Thanx - I assume you need to order the boots as well as the bindings?
  7. Looking for a step in softboot binding to use when riding with my daughter. Does not have to be super carving stiff but should still be good for carving. Checking here before I buy retail.
  8. Seldom do photos provide a true perspective - this appears to be as steep and gnarly as stories of your previous trips imply, meaning that it's probably worse. RESPECT!
  9. Winter reading, much? I came across a completely new author whose quality of writing is breathless. Reading my next book felt flat by comparison. Great storyteller. Winterglass, the first of a trilogy, by Benjanun Sriduangkaew.
  10. @Carvin' Marvin This is how John M manages his responses
  11. Clearly we have been looking at this all wrong: its not the board that people are responding to, its the rider
  12. Thanx all - my underlying assumption that base bevel was intended to help with the effective edge angle was flawed. Great input as usual from all - much appreciated.
  13. That makes sense but implies that you are detuning it and not making it sharper for ice (for example)?
  14. post fright adrenaline cackle!!
  15. I have long been confused by the need to add a base angle when tuning edges. Assumption: edges less than 90 deg are sharper than edges greater than 90 deg. Below is a screenshot taken of a base tuning tool that confirmed for me what I thought was happening: Below is a diagram of the geometries as I understand them: So in my mind: adding a base angle makes the edge less sharp adding a side angle makes the edge sharper What am I missing: why add a base angle?
  16. Somehow this is just not fair: here on the east coast we are seeing too many rocks, you are seeing too much groom FOR 1 PERSON!!!
  17. Three time this week: Hi are you Geoff? Who is Geoff???
  18. I thought I would post a positive report. I was hit from behind earlier this week by a young racer warming up, just above the lift. Thanx to @Jack M for his concerted efforts to make me look across my turn and then back up the hill to finish it, I saw him coming with enough time to evade a disaster - he was flying. Minor back contact for me while he plowed on down the hill on one ski, having broken one binding. I had another carver behind me who saw it all so am sure I was not at fault. Both of us walked away, him grumbling under his breath - didn't even check in to see if I was ok despite us both querying his well being.
  19. "Hardbooter ... HARDBOOTER!" softbooter with a smile and a thumbs up.
  20. This is an issue that I have been working with for the last year and which was exacerbated at MCC as it got steeper. Over the week I had several pieces of advice that all helped when followed: Even before the toe to heel side transition, start looking back over your shoulder into the next turn After transition push your right hand DOWN (regular rider) and grab your front boot If you are still front loaded through the turn the back of the board cannot follow the radius - move weight backwards (to centered or more if necessary) Extend your knees through the turn Don't reach for the snow with your front hand, let it come to you
  21. In the lift line at MCC a carver points at a skier in front of them and says to his carve buddy: “what are those?”
  22. I identify as a snowboarder trapped inside an old man living vicariously through the forum.
