  1. what is the width? is it in usd or cad?
  2. Couldn't upload a video on me on cat tracks going strigh and slow. Anyway. Same crazy arm movement exactly like the earlier vid. Me thinks I need an arm sling ?
  3. Been riding with partial ACL And PCL tear, grade 1 MCL and LCL injury. The brace has been invaluable Injured myself early in the season after twisting the backlegg just after disembarking from the chairlift and the person beside me lost control and made everybody crash =(
  4. Always unlucky with the crowd on days i bring the camera along. But got some clips to scrutinize.... this is cruising mode on a relatively easy slope I really dont know what to do with the back hand. Most of the time it has a mind if its own P.S. im only skimming my hand on the snow because my camera man insists =)
  5. Best to try your friends SL board? Then you would get a feel of a turny board and see if you like it. Plus these race boards have scr that shoots you out of a turn and from what i understand, the mk is a single scr...but who knows its top secret specs. Considered a nirvana energy? Never tried one but lots of good reviews floating around regarding handling on steep hard/icy slopes.
  6. we are about the same height. On a board with flat bindings I have 45 cm stance and on a board with heel/toe lift i have 47cm. I found this to be ideal for me after trial and error
  7. I can say it's a big difference from your older videos. I cant comment techniquewise as i'm still figuring Things out myself. But i too was thinking of getting an MK as we do get bulletproof ice every once in a while. But I have a rev SL which is a tight turning Board. Great on the steeps and ice but I can't ride this thing for long as it just drains me of energy. It just wants to turn turn turn. I cant do cruise mode like on a nirvana on the steeps =( On a Bright note, short slopes dont feel so short no more but hopping to gain more stamina during the off Seasons so i have an excuse for an MK.
  8. Had a try at it again. was trying to be consciously aware on how my weight is Distributed on the Board. when i was warming up in the blue run, i notice that i automaticly load up the tail early. But on the back slopes my weight is mostly on the front leg during the Whole turn as suggested by Beckmann. I tried to make it it an effort to shift back, but it was not easy. Ended up taking off the inward canting of the back legg and have now purely lift on both legs. Somehow this made it easier
  9. So i've been playing on the black slopes lately after getting comfy on the blue lines. Cant find a descent red slope. Something is happening once on every single run! Its during a heel side turn and towards the end just before the board gets perpendicular to the fall line. Somehow the tail releases its hold on the snow. I dont get over pressure anymore or chattering after learning to pressure at the beggining of the turn. But the tail just releases while the nose is still carving. I always end up falling down while the board is still turning so that when everything is done, im on my back and my head is pointing downhill and and the board base is pionting uphill. For the life of me, i dont know what i happening there. I mean everything happens so much faster on a black line. Any ideas?
  10. Damn it, im working =(
  11. I merely doing the people on the chair a favor by entertaining them. In all seriousness, i am a bit freaking out during a vanity run that is unavoidable and it somehow takes away the pleasure of carving. But if i manage to pull it off....suck on that mortals!!!
  12. Is this the one in voss?
  13. Mind you, had to check uphill on every other turn. But anyone wanting to bomb the hill got discourged that day. At leat i didnt see any from the chair. That is a very steep slope slope. 35-45 deg on the uper top part *300m. Been practicing on this one and its scary as hell without the gates already. Plus norwegians take they're skiing seriously. They dont want no snowboarder disrupting their training =) Wrote tanglefoot last week since I thought of going up there. But decided to stay in Oslo after he described the weekend crowd. Will drop a message when im in the area.
  14. Video taken in a mellow blue run. Was crazy lots of people on the slope i was on due to fog on the rest of the mountain. Took the SL 7-11m. Had to stop after 3 runs because it just got to crowded and unsafe. Fire away with some tips i van do for next time.
  15. Saw the guys from maverick snowboards two weekends ago. It was a really icy day and from the chairlift, they were ripping it up like hardbooters. I really thought they were on hardboots!!!
  16. how does "sitting on the toilet" look (i don't know if i'm doing this)? any one got some pics?
  17. Had a chance to ride a Nirvana Balance for a solid week. 170 -ish in length 10.5/12.7/12 sidecut I normally ride a donek rev GS(11/16) and SL(7/11) so i will base my opinion on this. I have never been on such an easy plank to ride before i got on this one. The main thing i notice with the Balance is that it is far more superior in regards to versatility. I found that i could still have fun carving on less than ideal anow conditions as if that was not the case. Soft snow? Choppy snow? Hard pack? Wet spring conditions? NOT A PROBLEM. It will continue to ride smoothly. But one thing i found it difficult to ride on was ICE. Most would say ICE is mostly technique. But with my crappy technique the REVs would bite on to the ice for dear life. With the Balance, not so much. I really like the SCR. Weight in front and it makes small SL turns. Weight in the middle and I could skim elbows on the snow. The one i like is the third SCR on the tail wich slows the board during a turn when weighted on the back foot when necessary. Where in the REVs like to be ridden fast and requires presence of mind 110%. The balance is a smooth relax easy going ride. Not much thinking and more like enjoying the flow of the turns. Every turn is a pleasure on this one. I actually get sad after the last turn. If you are new to harboots, i would suggest this one. So easy to learn on If you l hve been on one for many years and want to still enjoy carving in not so stellar conditions? I sugest this board. Maybe not for those who ride icy slopes
  18. I am at a piont where I am tired of explaining what a carving board is. . Feels very repetetive by the hundreth time.... my default answer now is either "i havent come up with a name for this yet" and "cowabanga board". The other week a 65-70 ish old man on skiis followed me after getting off the lift. He stoped beside me and said in a very confident tone "that is a carving board". I told him how shock i was that some one knew what it was. He politely ask if he can follow me down the mountain and said it was a joy to watch. On the way up we talk a bit and found out he had been on a SWORD for many years but now prefers skiis because it was easier on his body. Got good tips that day.
  19. So, somebody got a video of this bad boy in action?
  20. once i get home, I let the board/ skiis stand in the bathroom (heated) overnight. in the morning it's totally dry. Never had rust on my edges since i have been doing this.
  21. Yeah make sure to check uphill. My firends that are riding with me are mostly skiers. And eventhough we have been riding hundreds of times they say that they are sometimes still putoff buy the whole carving thing. They cant really put a finger to why but mention: 1. The direction of the board when carving--- the traverse and uphill part 2. Downhill speed --- fast when the board point down the fall line but then during the traverse, even though the rider is moving perpendicularly to the fall line with more or less the same speed as the start of the turn, for the one riding behind it seemed that I suddenly stoped or slowed down only to start another fast turn which was wierd for them.
  22. Adjusted the bindings like the pic above end ended up more or less close to the original setup i had. Wont be messing more with it. I was able to ride a dedicated freecarve board the otherday. Was able to do all the things you guys mentioned to control speed. It was somewhat eye oppening in that i realize that there are things that i cant do on a race board. And that they want to go fast and i just needed to get comfortable with it and that while the speed it rides is high, it is still stable and will hold crazy levels of edge. Went back to my racebaords with this in mind and it just clicked. Learned to get comfortable with the speed... no more chatter. Over all a good ride. Will probably take more days to fully get comfy. On another note. I have been experimenting with stance width. Today. Im 164 cm. Stance is 45cm. Been trying narrower and wider. I somehow feel like all the stance between 40- 45cm were riddable. Hkw do you guys find your stance? I mean is it what you feel is more stable/less tiresome/ etc.? I was mkre stable at 45cm but more quad burn. 40 was less tiresome but less stable for me.
  23. Got to ride a nirvana balance with your spect the other day. I have never ever rode an easier board to cave with. Carves really well at slow to moderate speed. I only have raceboards and they needed to be ridden aggressively. But this one was a really laidback ride.Like the others i think its down to the binding setup.
  24. Ok, did this today on the SL... and it felt sooo freaking WEIRD! Moved the front bindings to the middle 4x4 so that the screws are directly in the middle of the binding. The back binding is still scrwed where it was the last time but had to move it towards the nise to get the same stance width On to the positve side.... looks like i have been installing bindings on the board incorectly all theese years. The board felt more responsive to input. And much easier to ride. Took me quite some runs to get used to. But this is the way to go. On top of that i was able to ride twice as long as before. Everything just felt effortless and i got less fatigued. On the flip side, since i went on mucking about with bias, I moved back to theold setting where both toes and heels are equaly flushed on the edges and not minding the centered-boot-to-binding. Just fir refference. When you guys say no heel over hang, which part of the boot is the "heel"?
  25. In the photo, i tried to center the notch on the boot to the center of the bindings. It looks like a lot of overhang since the photo was taken from a side angle. The front binding is set at 52 deg with no overhang viewed directly from the top. The back bindings is set to 45 deg with a bit of overhang. I have really really small feet. 24 mondo. When i tried the toe/heel bias where in both toe and heel bails were were moved to the extreme opposite ends, i ended up with 55/50 with a bit overhang . Ok, I will try that. On the photo, the first 4 holes are used closest to the middle of the board are used both on the front and back bindings Workshop7, is this setup what is reffered to as the gilmour bias?
