  1. Let us know how that board works and if you have ridden a metal board how it compares for you? I wonder if that board would be cheaper than metal if it was a production model and almost as good? Maybe it would last longe rthan a metal board although I am not wearing out the metal boards I have too fast. I have yet to wear them out.
  2. Maybe you don't need to change your set up? I have changed mine some what over the last couple of years and have settled in. Try to figure out why you would need to change something and then maybe experiment with a change if you think it will help?
  3. Thank you for the replies. I guess I will not convert sw to standard if it is stiffer than Phiokia. I only use phiokia with 1 pair of boots so no adjustment needed after setting up. Easy to switch from 1 board to another than sidewinder as I have to disassemble sidewinder to remove from board due to small boots-26. No disassembly of phiokia to switch to another board
  4. Has anyone ridden both the td3 standard and the Phiokia binding? Just wondering if they ride very similar or not? if they do I was considering converting my sidewinders to td3 standard? I like the way the phiokia binding rides in comparison to the sidewinder.
  5. Wondering if anyone is interested to trade my 172 aX for a 162 AX or similar all mountain deck in a 162-164 length? Would also be interested in a Prior in that size . Also maybe a Hot shine or spot162 in good shape. Maybe an sg all mountain as well? The 172 AX is a glass board.
  6. Most of the time in November it is man made snow. Maybe 1 or 2 runs? Sometimes we will get snow early season. The last 2 years I think were all man made in November. You would have to check weather and snow reports right before you get here to see what is going on.
  7. If just your liners are packed out and your boots are in good shape you could get new liners. I have been using intuition liners and like them better than thermoflex because they are thicker and do not compress as much. Maybe the newer thermoflex liners are thicker? I am happy with intuition and will continue to use them. You could go to a ski shop that sells intuintion and get them molded there as well. I would recommend getting them molded and fit at a shop as it is hard to do it yourself unless you have the proper equipment to properly heat and fit the liners. I am on my second set of liners with my Susaka boots and they are still holding up. I also ride lemans boots for all mountain . My Susaka boots have been around for many yeards and are still going strong.
  8. Just went back to 20" after riding 18.5. Much better on the longer metal boards-184cm. I think I will ride 19" on all mountain boards as they are shorter andI need to be able to manuever quick on steeper terrain. 5' 10" 30" in seam. More stability and I feel like I can get better edgehold with the wider stance. You will have to experiment with width to see how it works for you? The only real reason I went narrower was because my back was hurting and I thought it might be due to stance width? I think the back pain is less because I got some custom orthotics which also got rid of my right ankle from hurting. The orthotics also might be helping me with balance as well?
  9. You might go on the swoard and or pureboarding sites to see what clothing will last on laid out turns. Of course on the pureboarding video I think it is the passion of carving Joerg shows how he is tearing up gloves and pants. You should do fine riding a plate. You saw me do it. I might show up tommorow? You might be able to sew on a leather pad on the areas that your pants are wearing? Maybe some velcro on the leather and those areas and then you can replace the leather as it wears out? Or maybe some other material that slides well on snow that could be replaced as well?
  10. Those boards are very old and not worth much to sell. I demoed the shanon melhuse if that is a Rossi board? It was fun to ride. Those were made back in the 1990's I don't remember which year? The only liquid Arc I have looked at was at a swap meet a couple of years ago-very very stiff and wide? I have not ridden a liquid arc. I would think the Shannon Melhuse would be better as it would not be as stiff. Both boards could be used for carving or racing. I thought the liquid arc would be too stiff for me and I weigh 185-190. The boards would be better suited to sl racing rather than gs as they are short. If you want to be real competitive you would have to buy newer boards but you can race on anything if you want to. You will have to buy intec heels for your Blax boots if you want to use step in bindings? You would have to contact Bomber to find out if Blax boots are intec compatible?
  11. You don't have to wish. Simply have Donek snowboards build you a board of your choice whether it would be a tanker type board or the f2 elminator?
  12. I think Alta has always been a no snowboarding resort? Don't know about the others?
  13. Cool bike. If your rims are pitted too much they will not look good if you get them replated? The old plating has to be removed completely before they can be replated. Plating work is expensive because the metal has to be returned to smooth condition before plating is re done. I know what is invovled because I work in the band instrument trade and have toured a plating plant that does this. I am not qualified to do plating work. Plating has to be removed with chemicals . It would be cheaper to buy new rims if you can find them? Replating will not hide flaws if they cannot be removed? You might be able to find rims as lots of people are restoring old bikes and some parts are available?
  14. Remember you can demo bindings at Bomber for a small cost.I would recomend doing this since you are moving to Colorado. I do not know if they demo the I bex binding but they do demo all of the newer Bomber bindings both td3 and side winder. I demoed the sidewinder before I bought it and I think I demoed the td3 as well. Of course the demo would include cant and lift options. Contact Bomber to set this up.
  15. The solution for me was to ride hardboots all the time and use 2 diffrent pairs of hardboots. I use the Deluxe lemans for all mountain on all mountain boards and Dupraz d1 and I use the Deluxe Susaka for carve specific boards-metal race boards. I had too much foot pain and leg fatigue with softboots no matter what boot or binding I would use even with custon insoles. I don't ride trees. I will ride bumps but only certain types of bumps if they are spaced properly and not too icy. I ride powder with Dupraz d1 and lemans boots and Nidecker plate bindings. I tried bts with different springs but prefer to use the boots in stock condition as I don't want the extra movement. Hopefully we will get decent snow this season so that all mountain riding will be good this year?
  16. Anyone ridng a Carveboard? I guess Mark Fawcett uses one. is it good for off season carving practice?
  17. thank you for doing this. I rode asyms a lot back in the day and it would be interesting to know the history. Is Pogo in the running as they have been building boards for a long time. Would be fun to have an accurate account of the whole history of alpine snowboarding as well. it would take a world wide search of all the companies to find out who built the first plate binding and first board and first pair of hardboots?
  18. Was up wensday. Very hard groomers. It softened up later in the day and I had a blast riding chair 4 when it was soft. I will be going up Sunday and it should get warm enough to soften again. I will be riding chair 4 as soon as it is soft as I would rather ride softer snow than hard groomed snow.It is supposed to get up to 49 on Sunday so should be good if you like slushy snow. I rode last sunday as well and the groomed snow was very hard and I rode slush later in the day and had a blast. The groomed runs softened up earlier in the day last Sunday then they did on Wensday. I think the snow will soften up earlier this Sunday as it is not supposed to be as cold at night? the other nice thing about last Sunday was light traffic. i rode the whole day and left after 4 p.m. and drove straight home. Spring conditions- ride the slush and have fun on your all mountain set up!
  19. Simply talk to sean at donek snowboards and he will build a custom board for you at no extra charge. He will consider all parameters-your height, weight, foot size type of riding you do and can reccomend types of boards for you.
  20. If the board is in good condition you could ride it. I rode one years ago at Ski Sunlight in Glenwood springs CO and it was fun. Does your board have inserts or is it ski screw mounting? If it has inserts it would be fine. Virus is making an asym race board now. If the board has ski screw mounting that would be a problem to mount today's bindings on it.If it has real old snowpro vario p3 bindings on it I would not ride the board. You might post a picture of the board?
  21. bomber had a 185 rev for demo when I last visted their shop in January?
  22. Rossi made race boards in the early 1990's and I demoed a 171 at Vail and it was fun. You might post a picture of the board so that we can see what it is. It would not be competitive in racing today if you are trying to be real competitive. I have not heard of a rossignol pro ride? Some of their boards had wood cores and some had foam cores. More info needed to get an opinion of the board.
  23. step in or standard? what cants does he want and what type of e ring-yellow blue or red?
  24. Sounds good. I will keep an eye out for you and if I don't see you I will head over to lift 2
  25. Off work this week March 5-11. Will be riding at Loveland Monday March 5 and might alternate between abasin as well. I am going to try to ride most of the week days and might show up Sunday? Had a good day last Wensday riding with GV27 all mountain on lift 1, 2,8 and 4.
