  1. visor plus goggles? I prefer non-visor helmets so I can change my goggles/lenses to suit the conditions. also, be sure to actually try on any prospective helmets to ensure they fit your head shape comfortably.
  2. Step-ins listed here: https://forums.alpinesnowboarder.com/topic/56989-fs-bomber-td3-step-in-bindings-blackgold-fintecs/
  3. Just watched this video and learned a couple things I hadn't realized. Release on Supermatic is press down vs Burton pull up, I think main thing for me is how many moving parts the Supermatics have... Step On definitely seems a lot simpler, just need to add cost of boots, assuming you are ok with Burton boots etc.
  4. Bruce mentioned some recent production issues - perhaps some challenges in getting those wide boards finished I'm torn between getting a softboot Contra and another hardboot board... thinking I'm going to stick with another hardboot Contra given I think there will continue to be more options avail for SB boards in future.
  5. Thought we could share items we come across should they be of interest to members here. This listing was posted in Cochrane, Alberta, not far from Calgary. https://www.kijiji.ca/v-snowboard/calgary/kessler-alpine-185-cm-with-plate-and-bindings-used-only-twice/1625397293 KESSLER THE ALPINE 185 with Geckos and F2 Ti bindings Same seller has some Deeluxe 325 with Intec heels for C$300, MP 27.0 https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details.html?adId=1625397583
  6. Saw pics of a few of the boys skiing out in West Bowl - looked pretty decent.
  7. 8. Cateks, but OS1 I think? (Not mine) https://www.kijiji.ca/v-snowboard/ottawa/catek-alpine-snowboard-bindings/1678832639
  9. Welcome Jay, Andrew from Kijiji here. @TJR was looking for a set.
  10. I messaged him today suggesting he could list here, but doesn't like like he got around to it yet: https://www.kijiji.ca/v-snowboard/bedford/trench-digger-3-power-plates/1680435168
  11. I actually thought on the outside like this, where the original tongue insert sat, would be the least impacting to the boot. I'll give them a whirl inside but I was worried they'd be loose and prone to shift around more and/or require me to futz with them when lacing up the boots. Whereas fixed on the outside, I can just lace them up.
  12. Rode with these for the first time today (medium/medium in size 7 boot). Very pleased. Improved response and bonus, distributed binding pressure on forefoot better than without.
  13. Rode some shorter boards today and it quickly became evident that I prefer a longer board now. Started on an old Mistral Sonic 167cm with 18cm waist. Tried a 154cm Mistral Pace 'freecarve' deck and put it back in the car after just one run. It felt so short and like there was no edge to set in comparison. Then softboots with bomber power plates on my older Burton Dragon 156. It's a relatively stiff board suited for the pipe but also very short and small sidecut radius. I've no interest in riding those short boards any more. It was a good exercise for me, reinforcing that at least for carving, I want a longer board with more effective edge. Supposed to go up to +6°C here tomorrow so I'll start the day on the 166cm Coiler.
  14. I've got both a first gen and 2nd gen Fly6. Relatively old now but decent image at 720p. Not sure if they've improved since. I bought the first one after an interaction with a police officer who passed me on a two lane road at same time as oncoming traffic. Scared the crap out of me and he did it on purpose. I wanted proof of what occurred. (the police offer declined to participate in the 'voluntary' Office of the Independent Police Review Director (OIPRD) process we have here) I don't ride as much road as mtb these days, but make sure to have one on the bike when I go out. Came in handy earlier this year as I was able to identify the driver of the hot rod in the pic below. Some internet sleuthing by friends identified the two vehicles as father and son (multi-color S-15 pickup) and I got ahold of the son on Facebook... "hi Jared, wondering if you could have a word with your dad about buzzing me on Galetta Side Rd a week ago Sunday morning. There was lots of room on the road, no traffic etc. I appreciate you giving us the space but your dad flipped us the bird as he went by..." So, they work.
  15. Yah, different stage of life for sure @nicman Two kids (6 and 12) and with other extracurricular activities, we stay closer to home and have season's passes at Pak. We'll try to host a Friday evening carving session at Pakenham once the base is established. With a season's pass, I've got a bunch of free tickets for Friday's so we'll get something set up in the New Year. Bump for seller.
  16. Genuinely curious about the other Canadian custom boards you have in your quiver...? JJA and Prior come to mind, I'm not aware of others but I'm probably a bit in the dark so would be interested in learning more. Great to hear that your first Thirst experience was so positive!
  17. Stittsville?! Just down the road from me. I'm up north end of Huntmar. Welcome to the forum. There are a couple of us active here. Riding regularly at Pakenham and Calabogie. GLWS
  18. So this tool didn't pass the test for me. It's actually pretty good overall but the bit holder was too 'fat' to allow the bit to reach the screw in my sidewinder toe block. As seen in the photo, the opening narrows and the standard bit isn't long enough to reach the screw without the bit socket hitting the sides. I need to use a standard T-handle for this specific setup.
  19. He's in BC. Try giving him a call? UPZ BOOTS North America Dan YOJA Box 475 Osoyoos, BC CANADA V0H 1V0 TEL / FAX 001 250 495 3388 yoja@upzboots.com www.upzboots.com
  20. Good stuff. I sent him a note couple days ago, looks like I will try to switch back to another hardboot Contra instead, 12m to complement my 10.5m 166cm I have now. I'll get more use out of a hardboot Contra then the softboot, at least for now at our local hill which has short runs, more suited to step in bindings. I don't have budget for another set of bindings at this point. I am confident you'll have fun with the new Coiler. As long as you've been clear in your needs, I'm sure he'll build something to suit. That's the beauty of working with Bruce. Sneak peak on what you've got planned for graphics?
  21. Ooof - sorry to read this outcome. I've learned some today. Best of luck with improved sensation in future. Hopefully not permanent and its simply going to take a bit longer.
  22. Does COP no longer have lift access? There's tons of hiking in Kananaskis Country, as well as mountain biking. Some of my all time favorite trails are in K-Country - alpine ridgetop singletrack with great descents. When I first lived in Lake Louise, they had gondola access for mountain bikes, in the original gondolas (2 person). Had to fit the bike in upright. I think they only allowed it for a couple of years. As Rob mentioned, the lease/permits for the resorts inside the park boundaries won't allow for the amount and range of traffic the bikes would generate given the areas being prime habitat for grizzly etc.
  23. Wow, amazing package deals, looks like both pending now.
  24. The Commissioner was apparently the Timeless replacement so I wouldn't be surprised if they were very similar, or even the same. I've abandoned the Commissioner for now and will see about getting Bruce to build me another board. I'll work with him on geometry. I'm certainly happy with my Contra 166 10.5 19cm waist. I appreciate everyone's input. It's been valuable feedback.
