  1. Jack, Just saw your mom's interview on fox news. Good job on the photo credits! Glad to hear everyone is alright, or atleast as alright as can be.
  2. It wont be THAT bad. Im not staying with those hooligans in the bomber house! How much damage can i really do from a distance?!?!!
  3. Need more info (and still likely will not offer too strong of an opinion) How many have 2.7 threads compared to 3.5? Is it just 1 out of 4, or 1 out of 8 . . . or more? How many threads do the remainder have?
  4. So the day started with the boards pictured above. . . and then in a little box under the tree I received the following "coupons" from my wife, daughter and son. Also worth mentioning is the implied "permission" to ditch my wife and kids for 10 days to go play with the boys (and BOL gals) in Aspen! 2 Boards, 2 Plates, a Trip to Aspen for SES and permission to go! Can this day get any better?!?! Time to get the legs in shape!
  5. Sean might stop in and better explain it, but the basic concept is that it takes all the benefits of a metal board, and brings back some of the liveliness and "pop" of a glass construction board. It works in conjunction with the tail decamber profile to give you even more options on how to finish the turn. Several freecarvers have raved that this is the way to go.
  6. Just had to share what was left under my tree. . . errr . . . umm to the side of it. Woo Hoo!!!! Thanks for getting these here before christmas Sean, these things look great and cant wait to get them on snow! For people looking for details, They are two slightly different 184 metals, both with plates. one is a 14-20 SCR, the other is a 14-20-17 "Hook" SCR. The Black one is pretty stock, the white one has some other modifications that I will be trying out this year. now, if I can unwrap a box under the tree that is a "get out of jail free card" I can abandon my wife and kids long enough to give these boards their fair shake!
  7. If there are any other bomber riders in your riding group, see if you can borrow 2 x 3 degree cants, or a 3 and a 6. Getting off of the flat on the front foot will let you dial this in.
  8. What do you need for OS2's drop me a PM or e-mail
  9. Please take this all with a grain of salt coming from a "wrench fiddlin, princess and the pea, fussy little catek rider." (AKA, I don't have the pleasure of sidewinders and e-pads to play with) Mike, normally when I feel as you describe, it is because I do not have enough cant. If you are riding 3 or 6 degree cant/lift you could try pushing both of your cants outward by just a little bit and I think it would make this feel alot better. If you ride flat, then this e-pad idea is a good one, or, it is possible that your body is actually asking your to add some cant/lift to your setup. Another large culprit can be your boot cuff cant.
  10. I have been waiting for the 4X4 plates to be tested. I had a feeling someone would post a review like this. Personally, I would love to see someone try the combo of: New VSR sidecut Traditional camber profile (no decamber) Metal construction. moderate amounts or possibly no rubber Ill be able to come close. Gen 1 Donek metal that I still love (the ones that sounded like a tin can on ice), with the 4X4 plate that I hope is comming my way some time soon. KEep the posts comming you luck SOB's with snow!
  11. You are far to kind here. If you start throwing my name around recklessly like that, we would also have to give an equal amount of credit to all the testers (which I know you were a significant part of) and tinkerers who where lucky enough to be part of the on snow evolution of both the new shapes and plate systems. I just sat at the other end of a computer screen (much like I am now) throwing some ideas out. Hope we get to make some turns together this year!
  12. I don't think im letting any kind of hat out of the bag here. . . . Sean has already talked to me about shipping a spare plate with both 4X4 and UPM hardware so I would have it available for people to try, either on a spare donek demo board, or their own board. I live west of boston, but will likely be at: stratton sunapee Wachusettes (possibly in the gates) Ward (USASA) and Nashoba (5 minutes from my house) Other arrangements can likely be made.
  13. Sean!!! I want mine I want mine I want mine!!!! no huge rush though. . . . no snow here yet I still want it though just to play with! Looks nice bryan, what is that red board you put it on?
  14. As I have stated in other threads, I am looking to race this winter. . . I was going to do the WA race league but could be talked into USASA . . . Being in your region I was going to look into what this would entail, but the website has not been updated with any info about this upcomming season. Being a family man, if I can get this stuff on the calendar, I can probably do it, but if its not on the wife's calendar soon, she will fill it up with other commitments. Any idea when race schedule will be published?
  15. Sigi, Glad you posted here as it shows GREAT product support. As a frequent reader, but seldom poster, I just wanted to chime in and let you know that I did not think this thread painted SG product in ANY bad light at all. Based on the original poster's want to fix the board, I read it as knowing that this was not an OEM issue but that they didn't want to give up on a great product.
  16. Last season, 25 days on snow. 2 Fridays 5 Saturdays 5 Sundays 2 mondays 6 days at ECES 5 days in Utah Of these, I would have preferred to be on a softer metal . . . 3 of the days in Utah, 0 of the days at ECES, and maybe 3 of the remaining 14 days. 6 out of 25 days. I NEED both in my quiver, don't get me wrong. But I saw enough good snow last year that I will NOT be selling of my older boards.
  17. I still like what a stiffer board has to offer my riding. . . especially when conditions are good! I told both Sean and Bruce at ECES this past year, that based on how good the conditions were, I found all the new metal boards to be a bore and not too much fun to ride. I stepped back a generation to a board that was metal, with less rubber and more stiffness and had a BLAST of a day, all day long. I pulled out a glass board that was even stiffer and had more fun. I think both have a place. there have been some poor condition days where the stiffer boards have been no good and the new metals were great. but on an epic groomed day, gimme a stiff board and let me loose! just my 2 cents.
  18. Last time I did the side by side part count. . . the OS2's and TD3's had the same screw/part count. . . . complexity. . . just different. One you have to do math on what angle two plates are relative to the other. The other, you just tweak some set screws.
  19. Those are some hot looking parts Sean. I can't wait to get my plate(s) and start playing with them. What boards from my past will these re-invigorate? The list of experiments is endless! I knew there was a reason I was holding onto so many of these "older" boards. Snow can't come soon enough this year.
  20. tekkheadd, Ace has been updating the price in the original as the price has dropped over the summer. This is a KILLER price for a virus IMHO and represents and off-season need to move a board. If I could ride the angles associated with the narrow waist, I would have grabbed this by now. Truly surprised someone else hasn't
  21. Actually. . . It is metal! If you look, there is a metal plate in this board just under the topsheet starting just infront of the font inserts and extending to just behind the rear inserts. This board was so far ahead of its time. . . .Im going to have to raise my asking price now that I know that it was one of the first metal boards!
  22. Quite enjoying the threadjack. . . but I don't know if a picture exists of me riding further away from the snow then you bryan. . . Ill have to start looking. I think it would be easy to put a plate ONTOP of this board. Look at all the inserts on the edges!!! Lets cut up one of those tinklers and bolt it on man! Everyone claims these plates are magical. This would be proof of that!
  23. Give me a couple minutes. . . .I will have to bust out the sextant to calculate the Sidecut radius on this one
  24. Probably not. . . but I am sure it would make a great "plate system."
  25. The base looks like it is either dirty. . . or someone used a black or carbon wax.
