  1. I am going to try wed and thrus am this week . jim
  2. My friend Eric ,who rode with me at t-line yesterday, drove back to pdx via hoodriver. He commented today at work on how it looked even more barren on the east side of the mountain at lower elevations. Maybe the top would be ok ? but I would hate to be in a big crowd on one lift with minimal snow . We could see the top of the new lift from palmer and it looked completely melted off and rocky. Give it shot and let us know (I will be working) Jim
  3. The guy I know has the freeride twin tip models so I don't know much about the tail flare. I am NOT sold on the idea of dual camber especially for carving boards as the dual camber makes a serrated like edge that would definately slower on hardpack. Overall they are very soft boards. Taper on a traditional alpine board is a different story....? Jim
  4. I went to BC with a guy who knows the owner of the company (from portland oregon). Anyways he has 2 incas and rides them with raceplates as his powder setup (big wide 178) They are the weirdest looking boards ever (dual camber) He rips on his in the powder as the board is softer in the middle than in the tails which allows him to make powder turns easy. The downside is that it is slower in the flats and has to use his poles (powder cat) to push out some terrian. He rode my 192 tanker for 2 runs and thought it was pretty different and went back to the inca. We measured the bottom surface area of both the inca and tanker 192 and 2k . The tanker 192 < inca 178< 2k tanker which explains why it works so good for him . Jim

    t-line

Palmer was excellent in the morning, highly recommended! However it got soft by 1130am and felt like it was June (with less snow). If palmer isn't open I would stay home (the mile sucked and was rocky). Pics to follow. Rode with Eric and saw one other hardbooter. Talked to a gal on softies that liked carving and had a setup but wasn't riding that day ...MT's wife ? Jim

  8. If you were here in 76 , you definately lived here a lot longer than me.... Sorry EP for the BS Jim
  9. I use the crayon method of waxing and find it works great. You can use different waxs and blend/layer them easily with no waste. Adding a rag as a wax wick would seem like a good idea and allow faster waxing as the rag would hold a good amount of wax .
  10. Worst year on Mt Hood since I moved here in 1993. I heard rumors form an oldtimer that in the 72-73 el nino Mt Hood Meadows didnt open till sometime in feb. We got 7 inchs today for a base of 22" (but still closed) The forcast is for warming after today for 1+ weeks.....yuck. http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/total_forecast/index.php?minlon=-125&maxlon=-120.8&minlat=43.39&maxlat=46.91&mapwidth=354&map.x=282&map.y=192 Jim
  11. I want one of those 187 wides. I have a 192 and 2k that are both slightly used if anyone is interested (will sell only one). I use catek stepin's with rachlie 325's and it works great. I like the control of full on plates verses the softbinding route. A bonus of using intec's is that if you are caught in a slide you can pull your cables to release the board. Now if we could actually get some snow in the PNW. Its going to be an ugly dry summer..... Jim :(
  12. I had great snow the first week in Jan while at the Monashees Cat boarding -town of Sicamous BC . Drove through kamloops and wanted to stay some extra time to try sun peaks out. (Maybe next year, I rebooked) Excellent outfit if anyone is interested its called Monashee powder's anstey area. Dates are jan2-6... What is the closest area to OR/Wa that has decent snow? know of any good fly/ski deals? Jim
  13. I have today off , working fri to tues ..... Next wednesday ? It will be my 2nd day this winter at Mt Hood:( I have never seen it this bad with no hope for improvement ..... Jim

  16. I have a set of the 5-hole variplates if you want . Email me for pics and $ Jim
  17. Eric , You are going to mark your spot for the 4x4 holes on the top and drill straight through the bottom. Use the same size drill bit as the barrel of the t-bolt. Then take the t-bolts and break off the 4 points on the wide part by twisting then off with a pliers. Then from the base of the board drill a place in the p-tex with a 3/4" wood bit (the flat type) . This should just be big enough for the flange of a 1/4" generic t-bolt. Drill this hole deep enough to completely recess the metal flange of the tbolt but try to minimize removing any real core materal if possible. Warm the board and wet the area with marine grade epoxy . Press in the tbolts from the bottom and fill the extra spaces (except treads) with epoxy . Cover the bottom w/ saran wrap and flip the board over. Fill any space around the tbolt epoxy (except threads) . Take a 4x4 disc or td disk and screw this into the tbolts pulling it together from the top tightly. Note pre grease the screws so that you can remove them later. Let dry x 24hrs and remove and hand sand bottom flat . You can fill any holes on the bottom with epoxy if you want . Jim

  20. What do they call the liquid (name and model) ? I will have to look for one of those some time.... Jim
  21. Mine is currently T-bolted in a 4x4 pattern as Bryan has described. I just went to home depot and bought the ones they sell there in 1/4" size and used some SS screws. I just did this again to 192 Tanker that I pulled the inserts out with my cateks. Just use a 3/4" wood drill and remove enough base to place the the t-bolt in . Try to minimize drilling into the core as this will weaken it. Assemble by using boat epoxy and using 4x4 discs with greased screws to clamp/pull it all together. I just left the hole open and sanded the tbolt flat with the base so it looks like a metal insert. Ugly but it works good. I broke a nitro asym epic 173 in half after tbolting and weakening the core too much. This caused me to buy the Ride (a good move). Jim
  22. I have that exact board and really like it although mine is now in rock board status. I wish it had 4x4 inserts as it was made in the pre insert time. It doeshave a nice metal insert (under the topsheet) that can be tapped for m6 screws. Bryan from oldsnowboards.com just bought one somewhere but said his was a 167 , I told him mine is a 169 exactly like yours. Does the shop have any more? I would interested if it did. Jim in PDX
  23. Good score bryan .....sell me your old ones... Jim
  24. I will take them, if the 1st post backs out . Jim in pdx
