  1. Email me through BOL so I can let know what dates we are thinking about. We definatly had some of the best snow yet this season per the guides and staff. I have done 3 yrs with them and had good snow each time (1st year at tsuises? lodge) The cutblocks are alot more fun in with a deeper snowpack. Last year I was doing plenty of stumpjumps.. You should think about coming along next year Ed. I might go to MHM this weekend. Jim
  2. negative, no camber loss on mine.
  3. I had some telescoping ones but forget to bring them so used rentals. It looks weird but saves so much time at the beginning and end of runs when we often follow creeks out to the cat roads. They were a few hard core snowboarders that refused to use poles but they always were last out and definatley slowed our group down. They often fell crossing downed timber or a few fell in holes over the creeks. Its all about saving time and getting in as many runs as possible. With riding a Tanker I probably could have gotten by without using them as the board floats so well and keeps its speed on the flats. However its so much easier with them and almost every cat or heli outfit recommends them. Jim
  4. I had both 178's and the older one rides about the same. I bent the old ones nose at T-line after going over the handle bars on spring snow. Volkl sent me a brand new after sending it in for warrenty . I never expected them to be so generous... :) Jim
  5. I will email you when we get some dates. We have been going Jan 2-5 the last 2 years but are open for other dates. We drive from pdx and could carpool with anyone on the way up. It takes about 10hrs from portland. You will have no problems if you bring some ski poles in case you fall at the wrong time. Video link http://home.comcast.net/~jmcgrane/mustang_form_034.mov Jim
  6. I use the same "sweet spot" marks on my tankers as well. It seems to work great with some front and back canting also depending on whats comfortable. Jim
  7. You might try shifting the screws to a different spot. Just move the front the same as you move the back. Race plates are usaully pretty reliable unless you are a heavy rider. The first time you thread the screws into a new hole on the plate its pretty hard to drive them in without a #2 posidrive. The stock block screws have a nylon threadlock groove in them . Jim
  8. Just got back from 4 days of Cat boarding in the monashee mountains in BC. We had great snow everyday with some new fluff every night. This place definately rocks with awesome terrain and excellent lodging. They have 2 cats with 12 guests each . Our cat had about 1/2 snowboaders with 3 on alpine setups (radair 187, Inca 178, osin 178). My tanker outfloated most everyone including the skiers and guides. I have lots of pics and some excellent video. Anyone know how to post the video easily? We are looking to book again next year and it would be cool to ride in a alpine only cat. We need only 9 more !! :) Let me know if you are interested for 2007. http://www.mustangpowder.com/home.html Jim
  9. I have three tankers and they all have a some "base suck" . I use catek olys on them to try and spread out the force over the embrossed topsheet of the radairs. No problems so far. I did pull the inserts out on an older one that had a weird kind of threaded insert (green 192 w/ hibicus flower). However this worked out well in that roces usa let buy some newer ones at cost of the 03 models like yours. Jim
  10. I used for my 4yo last year and she liked it. Kinda expensive, if you go full day they give them a lunch. I would definatly call and make reservations. Jim
  11. I know I should have resisted posting but had some time kill at work.... :o Jim
  12. Found the thread on LGT.com car forum (legacygt.com) Here what he said to me .... Quote: get a pair of skiis if thats what you want to do, hard boot snowboarders are an embarassment to us all This Kid (teenager) is a little weenie jibber.. Jim
  13. I never made it up Dan as I could get my a_s out of bed after working evening shift on friday. Jim
  14. I the thought the 9am thing was just a daylight savings thing and that they would start the 8am mthood express lift again soon. Someone should ask on "daves blog"... I have an extra set of 323's in 29's and a sims premium 169 to borrow if needed. Jim
  15. I saw the one you have before Byran traded it away. Its in perfert condition and has the 03-04 graphics and it very sweet looking. We compared it to my 178 of the same year and its core is about twice as thick. However it wasnt quite stiff enough for Byran . I should have bought before he sent it on in his never ending snowboard dealing. Jim
  16. I never got the pics. Send the full res files if you can to jmcgrane @ comcast.net Jim
  17. Fire= Fully intergrated rattle eliminator Its the yellow board
  18. +1 Had the same boards and still use the 173 as my rock/early season board. Damp, maybe 14-15m sidecut, cap construction. Jim
  19. I might be able to make it . Use frs 5-12 ... Jim
  20. I always pictured it grey and smelling of paper plants;) Is hood really that close? The paper plants are accross the river at Camas Washington so no smell in Pdx. We usaully get 60-70 days straight in the summer with no rain and warm low humiditiy days . Mt Hood Meadows is a 1hr 15min drive from downtown on a midweek day. Timberline and Ski Bowl are only 1 hour . Cyrstal Mountain and Mt Bachelor are both about 4 hrs away . Jim
  21. I am surprised that that no mentioned Hood River Oregon. Its 35min to Mt Hood and has great summer sports also. It is a fun town year round and was in the top 10 ski town list last year. It has world class windsurfing-kiting and tons of mountain biking hiking fishing. It close to pdx for shopping or the airport (60miles) It is the tech center for the columbia gorge, and is HQ for a number water sport manufacturers. I would seriously consider moving from PDX to HR or Bend if a job was open for me. Jim
  22. Eric, Monday is still on.... How is the riding up at T-line ? Jim
  23. My friend Eric is up there this weekend at t-line. I am taking the kids night skiing at MHM sat evening. Jim
  24. I think alot of people who get to ride in powder in tight trees have fallen in tree wells. Most fall in right side up, get stuck and after stuggling for a while get out. Its the unlucky ones that fall in head first and end up dead (avalung??). Perhaps falling in right side up isnt a "true clinical tree well fall" ??? Having intecs does make it easier to detach your board to get out after getting stuck right side up. With all the new snow in the cascades there is air trapped under the branchs of the trees so when you get stuck and try to swim or step out you end up punching a deeper hole into this air pocket and fall in deeper. I never have fallen in head first ....and I hope this trend continues. Jim
