  1. Dan, I used Bryan suggestion of using craigslist and it worked great . Everyone's already paid today so we are set . I have a coworker Eric who is still a little undecided yet join. He a carver and posts here. You might try and emailing him. His ID is "Eric" ...see thread snow in the cascades ... Who is buying the T-lines $169 pass also? Jim
  2. My old burton was well used in the mountains of wisconsin. I took the fins off it because I thought it rode better that way. I retroed on some steel edges from wood skiis to give it more bite on wisconsin ice. It doesnt look as perfect as some of the others collector boards but represents a more personal value to me. Jim
  3. Wow, those are cheap! Do you think I cound retro a set of old burton 5-hole plate bindings on to them? Do they have a 4x4 bolt pattern that attaches the clickers so you can swap out other bindings? Jim
  4. +1 on the dually . It works great for the tankers ..... Jim
  5. Mike, You should check you the saabaru's 9-2x also. Its saab's rebadged wrx wagon and with that "GM employee discount pricing" you can get a loaded one for 19k . All the subaru mods work on it too. Its smaller than an outback but would work good with a skibox on top. Its has a 2liter boxer turbo.
  6. I would say its the "toy value" as the na subarus have plenty power if you get a MT. I have heard the autos feel a little slow. The fun factor is so great with the turbo, its well worth the lower mpg. You can always drive like a grandma and get decent milege if you want. The cobb AP really makes the Gt's come alive. Go out and drive some and you will know what we mean. Jim
  7. I had a subaru 98 outback w/ the 2.5liter MT with studded tires and it was unstoppable in any condition ...ice, snow, slush. It got around 21-24mpg. I traded it in for a 05 Legacy Gt MT turbo wagon for a little performance fun (has sti 2.5 turbo engine). Its great, but some give it a bad rap because the poor mpg performance. My experience is if you drive the subaru turbos (legacy gt, outback xt, forester xt, wrx) like a leadfoot and put the car in boost range all the time like >2800rpms they dont do so well and get about 18-19mpg. However when you drive conservative you will easily get 24-28mpg. Another thing is that you can get a ECU reflash device (Cobb accessport) to change boost/timing ect. to load diffferent maps to increase performance or increase ecomony by limiting boost. People have been reporting 28-29mpg with the ecomony maps. Portland has a large group of performance subaru shops that can do almost anything from ecu reflashs to custom turbo setups. I would check out a outback xt if buying new or look for 2000-2004 outback if buying used. Jim
  8. Most of the guys that do window tinting also do Clear Bras or Rock Blockers or 4 or 5 different names for the same 3m paint protection film. Try looking in the phone book under auto detailing?
  9. They were my boot of choice for years. Rode them with my burton 5-hole variplates for many years till boards started coming with 4x4 patterns . I still have an old pair yet . I always wished rachele would come out with a snowboard boot based that flexion tongue (progressive stiffness) instead controlling from the rear with the RAB or 5 postion adjusters. Jim
  10. I been with a few people climbing and boarding and the plastic water tube and bite valve tends to freeze during winter activities. They make some with foam insulation along the sipping tube which helps to prevent this . Jim
  11. Mike, its 90 in Portland so it must be 100 in Bend and you are shopping for a new boot dryer? I guess I should get an extra one... Jim
  12. I hope you get better soon Mike. I crashed on my bike coming home from work in march and dislocated my knee . It was just going around a corner in the rain and opps, ****.... There were no cars involved but a driver saw me fall and stopped to see if I was alright. He let me use his cell phone to call my wife. So some drivers are great!!! I thought the year was over but 3 weeks made a big difference. Definately get a MRI asap just to make sure there arent any torn ligaments. They had to put me under to pop my knee back in the right place and now I am 100% again (ran 5 miles today) . Jim
  13. If anyones interested in ridin timberline its their "founders week" so tix are only 19.95. I plan on riding monday am if possible . It snowed on the the upper mountain 8-12" this last week so hopefully conditions will be good. Jim
  14. I have suunto x-lander for everyday use and it has a log book function in it somewhere but prefer as Bryan does to use my old trusty avocet vertech for skiing/boarding. Its simple to use and is a great gage of how much vert/runs you do on a day or season. Bryan introduced me to one up at MHM many years ago. Sometimes ebay has some deals on new vertechII's.... Jim

  18. I had planned on being at MHM today but my wife had to work all morning and had to shuttle my 2 girls to/from school ... Jim
  19. D-Sub or anyone , What are the current condition down at Mt Bachelor like? I am coming down thrusday night and staying through monday at Sunriver. I plan to ride friday and monday if conditions are decent. Jim
  20. Perhaps you can host a US based longboard classic somewhere in the states next year? It looked like a good time for everyone. What kind of bindings do most of riders use....softies? Jim
  21. The board looks great. How does it ride? Eric at work said he saw you up at MHM on tuesday. Does Mike still install snow sticks on production boards? Jim
  22. I used to skate burnside early in the morning before the youngsters woke up. I worked graveyards and went down there after I got off work at 7am with a 16oz starbucks and skated for 2hrs with another old-school 80's skater-pharmacist. No one really bothered us and there was maybe 1 or 2 other riders plus a group of homeless folk. I havent done it it for 6+years but it was a lot a fun and seemed to improve my riding on snow too. I would like to try it again or do that carve board stuff mike t does. I still have my well worn big board from the 80's. Jim

    MHES?

I can only make it on saturday right now. I think the conditions at MtHood are excellent right now (best of whole year) . I went up on thrusday with my oldest daughter and had a great time on buttercup in 2-4" new snow and sun. Its probably bad to teach your kids at an early age to skip school for good snow but oh well:) Its strange to hear about everyone's last day as it seems our season has just begun again for real. I am going to be at Sunriver from 4-28 to 5-2 if anyone wants to ride MtBachelor with me , D-sub , Mike? Also can be up at MHM tues thru thrus this coming week... Lets ride while it lasts Jim
  24. I will be there friday and saturday . I am taking my 2 girls on sat am for lessons at MHM ...they are 4 and 6. Lets hope they get 8" on friday as forcasted... Jim
