  1. Just sent you a message. I am interested in the boots.
  2. Hi there, I'm in Ottawa. What size are they?
  3. Yes, very reasonable. catek.com's online store is still up though. Reason is the one of the 1st things to go when the sh!t hits the fan. Well put! I really appreciate this site too but at the end of the day it is exactly that; " a sales device". Fin was way ahead of the curve when he created this community, online years ago. In addition to creating the community; BoL has done a great job of keeping the Forum relatively vendor neutral. I think this has been key to BoL being the center of the online carving universe (at least in NA) for so long. I have never met Jim or Angie but I have met many people on this forum who have. They all to a person have stood up to support them; for now that's more than good enough for me! //P
  4. How much for the TD2 and pieces? I'm in Ottawa and could pick them up
  5. I got the boards yesterday. Huge shout out to @iav8 for arranging to get these from Barrie to Ottawa!! -The Coiler: The Coiler is in the best shape by far. It is a 2009 PRC with Titanal. Built for 150lbs or less (if I am decoding Bruce's SN# properly) It was built for the previous owner It is in 8/10 shape -The Kessler: Well used, edges are thin. Feels soft by hand. Custom built for the same racer @ 150lbs or less, 5/10 -The Donek: In good shape, maybe 7/10. Lots of edge. The bindings are Burton Raceplates (rental version that allows you to change the size without removing screws) Missing the plastic lever on one toe bail All in all I'm pretty happy with these for $175 all in.
  6. -Posting on Bomber -Spending lift ticket money on gear -Using it as an excuse to make a summer trip south....way south
  7. The video at the bottom of the article is crap. The author says he was at Bokwang for the previous two weeks. That means he was there for the PGS World Cup event Feb 12th. (explaining the abundance of hardboots) He then uses a 2013 video at the bottom of the article. A quick search finds these
  8. I'll add one to this. iav8 generously offered to deliver 3 boards I bought out of town (about a four drive away). A local friend has been holding them for almost a month and I had given up hope that I would be able to get there this season to pick them up. Looks like I will have them this weekend thanks to his generous offer!! There's a saying in Newfoundland, Canada: "there's no such thing as a stranger, just friends you haven't met yet" BoL is full of many friends I have not yet met and ones that I have been very fortunate to meet over the last 10 years!
  9. Any details on the heel? F2 Intec or Fintec? What broke?
  10. Understatement of the year for me......Between work and conditions I have not got out this year once. I have 5 new (to me) boards including my first skwal that have not been touched. We have lost a crazy amount of snow in the last week after getting 50+ cm the week before. I'm trying to stay positive and frame it as a great reason to make a trip to the southern hemisphere this summer..
  11. Smith SoL X Gold - 7% vlt; about the same as the Oakley Black iridium at 5-10%. you can't go wrong with either the Oakleys or the Smiths, I have had better luck finding deals on Smith and find the lenses easier to swap personally. Polarized will make a difference too, I'm too cheap to spend that much though. prolens.com is a great spot for finding replacement lenses for older goggles or extras for new goggles
  12. I hope they turn out to be a good buy! I have not got down to Barrie to pick them up yet.
  13. So nobody local bought these, I could not stand seeing them listed for that cheap and bought all 3 unseen for $175. The seller was a retired since 2010, female, Canadian national team racer. A friend of my wife lives in Barrie and met her to pick them up and pay for them. I am hoping to go get them in the next couple weeks, will post pictures
  14. My pre existing investment in step-in bindings is the deal breaker for me right now. I figured a grand too (was hoping in CDN$ though) The Track 425 Pro are $739 on BoL store, $211 more for the 951 is not unreasonable considering they are a new manufacturer where as Deeluxe has more than recovered the capital outlay for their molds. It's unobtanium either way for me (along with new Virus, Kessler, Oxxes). Congrats to the team that pulled this off!!
  15. I'm not so sure. They seem to know an awful lot of info about each one. The weight range is pretty specific on the Coiler. I think someone is selling their kids old race gear. ....betcha we find out regardless. Lots of riders in that area, it's about 30 min from the Coiler "factory". Someone from here will get them. If they were suitable for my 225lbs I would have done the 8 hour round-trip already.
  16. And when you go pick it up,grab the $75 dollar Coiler and $50 Donek from him too!! http://www.kijiji.ca/v-snowboard/barrie/alpine-race-giant-slalom-snowboard-171cm/1232519941 http://www.kijiji.ca/v-snowboard/barrie/alpine-race-snowboard-168cm/1232522952?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true

  18. I wonder if it's the plastics or the shell shape? The Northwave shell shape always reminded me of Burton hardboots without the recessed heel ledges.
  19. I'm no expert and not involved in this at all...but I would suspect they are trying to establish a baseline to build on. You need to duplicate the originals as closely as possible in order to determine if you were able to accurately reproduce the boot. Once it's determined that they are as close to the original as possible then start improving. If they added Intec heel compatibility right away and the boots did not feel like the originals you would never know if its the modifications to fit the Intec heels or if they missed something in the process of copying the orig design These seem to have cult status among racers but nobody can explain the allure. If they do not match as closely as possible the original design they will have trouble gaining traction in the market I suspect. Regardless, it's great to see some innovation in this space!!
  20. He's in Kamloops according to his profile; and on "hiatus" from following the board http://forums.bomberonline.com/index.php?/profile/304704-excelsiorthefathead/&tab=field_core_pfield_19 I miss the postings too. I was looking forward to hearing about him coming North of the border this season. I rode with him a few times the season he was in Colorado a few years back and I was there on a trip Great guy in person too!
  21. For those north of the border, you can search for Canadian Bank unclaimed balances here: https://ucbswww.bank-banque-canada.ca/scripts/search_english.cfm?
