  1. Ok, need lodging thoughts and mountain thoughts now. Our party is increasing. We originally had a 2 bedroom condo at PowMow for 3 guys. We now have a confirmed 4th and possibly 5th going. Where should we look? House rental is fine. $100+/pp per night is fine, so call $500ish/night. We are in friday March 13 and our only set plan at the moment is we have a cat booked at PowMow for Sunday (day 2) the 15th. Other than that we are open. Thinking PowMow on Saturday (day 1). But for Monday and Tuesday day 3 and 4 where should we go? Snowbasin? Depending on snow, conditions and availability we would gladly jump on another cat. But is Eden a good spot to hit both mountains? Or stay closer to one than the other? Need some local insight on where to stay. Rodney Dangerfield's house is available to rent, we may jump on it: http://www.vrbo.com/663412
  2. Erik, a huge thank you for all that you do for us! Hope to see you at the next ECES!
  3. Snowcat is booked! Now to pray for snow to keep coming into March! Also, I may end up riding softies...since I am going with all softbooters. Rode my softboots this weekend, and had a blast...been a long time! Thinking maybe bringing this Donek and put some softboot bindings on my 187 Tanker OS:
  4. Thanks all so far! Starting to look into booking days with the Powder Mtn run snowcats or possibly with diamond peak heli-ski (http://www.diamondpeaks.com). Any thoughts on cat vs heli for that area and time of year? I saw Mark's comment on heli and saving my clams for something epic. Prices look like ~3 days cat = 1 day heli, or thereabouts. I am leaning toward cat, but never went heli and not sure when I will be back out west...
  5. I have Level's I bought from Bomber several years ago and love them! Still going strong, no tears, still warm, built in wrist guards....shell, liner and wristguard are completely separable. Probably the super pipe model, as I just googled them...
  6. There are several phenomenal riders who hit Waschusett from time to time (they live in the general area), and some may even race there. I'm sure they will post here eventually.
  7. Thanks! We will have 4 days riding. Most likely at least 1 day via a cat. And we plan on hitting Snow Basin as well for a day. Sat, Sun, Mon and Tue riding. Any preference on what resort to hit during the weekend? Is one typically more crowded than the other on weekends? Probably will try to book the cat on a weekend day to avoid weekend resort crowds...unless thats not a concern there like it is here in the Northeast...
  8. Thanks all! I appreciate it! I will certainly revive this thread come closer to trip time. Just too excited to not start asking questions, as I haven't been out West to ride since the 90s.
  9. Just booked a mid March trip to Powder Mountain in Utah! Need some advice on what boards to bring please. I will be riding plates. I am definitely taking my Rad-Air Tanker 187 OS and my Prior splitboard. As we are doing some cat riding and some guided side mountain riding. But what to bring for a carving board???? An all mountain board like my Donek Axxess? Or something more groom specific like my Donek Freecarve or a Coiler Nirvana? What SCRs would you recommend for groom at Powder Mountain? What else do I need to know? Oh, how about what local beers to pick up?
  10. Ha, ha! So true, so true...
  11. Thanks Geoff! A couple more:

  13. Was there Friday and Saturday. Had some great carving time frames and some not so great. But once the freeze comes I think ECES will be in for a treat!

    Yo Lci!!

Big Mario and Inkaholic, maybe next time we can hook for a ride. I ended up riding North Table Mountain (North Table loop -> Mesa Top Table climb -> Cottonwood Canyon -> North Table loop) last evening and Lair O' the Bear (Bear Creek Trail) this morning. Both were great for a CT lowlander (~300' above sea level). Really enjoyed them both! I am planning on being back in September, and then again in probably February for work. May have to make some family vacations in there too! I had a blast, so different than CT / East Coast riding I am used to....

    Yo Lci!!

And with that said... I might try to get out of work (in Greenwood Village) today (Tuesday) around 4:00ish, drop my stuff off at the hotel and then go pick up my bike demo at Golden Bike Shop in Golden. If I have time once I get my bike I might try for a night ride. I'll buy new lights from them if I have to, could use them anyways. Does North Table allow for night riding? I'll ask the shop and search the web too. So, if anyone might want to get out for a ride this evening let me know. Just keep in mind you guys are most likely in way better shape than I am, as a low lander, slower rider anyways, so don't expect a fast pace…..it would be sweet if I could get two rides in, possibly two different places…

    Yo Lci!!

Looking like I am only going to be able to get out Wednesday morning. So NTM will be a good first taste, see how I do at 6500' versus 300' back home. I think I will be back in September.

    Yo Lci!!

Looking to hit North Table the morning of June 26th, first ever mtn bike ride out west... Hoping to rent a XL Pivot Mach 429 Carbon bike from Golden Bike, supposedly it will fit my 6'7" frame...

    Yo Lci!!

Double squish hadn't been ridden in 2 years, just sold it... Only geared mtn bike I have is a Surly Moonlander. Maybe renting is a possibility of anyone might carry a XXL or 23" or larger bike. I will PM you, thanks!

    Yo Lci!!

Forewarning, in case anyone wants to meet up potentially for a ride.....I will be in Denver / Greenwood Village June 24-26th or so and may bring my mtn bike. I am a fairly new rigid singlespeed rider, so just getting into singlespeed shape. Been averaging rides of 6-10 miles with up to about 1300' of vert (@ ~400' above sea level) to give you some general fitness level info. Might look to do a nearby night ride or two and maybe take a day off to go exploring. Link to my MTBR post. A local ride of mine on Strava. And I will not be offended if you do not want to ride with me due to our varying fitness levels, as I am the slow guy in my normal riding group of riders...
  22. Ever since getting mine, I wear it daily, and it reads as such: MY NAME / BIRTH YEAR CITY, STATE, USA HOME 555-555-1212 WIFE's NAME 555-555-1213 WIFE TYPE II DIABETIC PENICILLIN ALLERGY That way should anything happen to me, whether I have my wallet with me driving to work, or out riding my bike, first responders know my name, age, medical alerts, and they have some contact info.
  23. Yup those are them! Putting the CygoLite (w/ dual elements) with battery pack on my bars, and the 650 with integrated battery on my helmet.
