  1. Thank you all! Appreciate the thoughts and advice. I'll be reaching out to a few of you. Thanks!
  2. So...I've hit a plateau in my hardboot riding. Been on that plateau for a while (years) now, and I really want to take my riding up a notch. Haven't really improved since the last ECES (2014?). Maybe its because I don't ride enough in my hardboots anymore, or maybe because I don't ride enough with other hardbooters anymore, or maybe its all simply in my head. Or maybe its because I've been spending more time on skis chasing my kids, or riding softboots with my softboot friends. But I want to make an effort this year to ride more in my hardboots, and focus on getting better while in my hardboots. Who in New England can provide some one on one instruction to hopefully help me? I ride mostly in Southern Vermont and Connecticut. Guess I'd say I am maybe, just maybe, an intermediate rider in hardboots (advanced in softboots), trying to get to advanced intermediate or better in hardboots. Willing to pay resort private lesson prices if need be...but enjoy sharing beer much better...
  3. New England trips I usually have these in the car, with a game time decision on what to ride: Donek 177 AX 21.5w 10.5sc Coiler NFC T178 VC 6-6+9 Radair Tanker 187 OS 187x25.8x9
  4. Hitting Okemo tomorrow Tuesday December 11...
  5. @GeoffV honestly, 2 of the 3 were good, but there are a bunch of beers out there like them. Not worth chasing IMHO. But if you come across them, buy them (to at least compare them to other beers)... The Chinooker'd was my favorite of the 3 new ones, followed by Hopzilla. The Space In Between did nothing for me. Chinooker'd reminded me of old school IPAs, almost Pliney tasting. I heard that double and triple sunshine should be making their way south very soon as well.
  6. Anyone have a set of Catek long plate standard bindings they would be willing to part with?
  7. Quick search didn’t find a recent thread...so starting a new one: More Lawson’s has landed in Connecticut:
  8. I thought I heard ski md stopped doing alpine boards? just checked his site, all I found was a note on his mail order page that he no longer grinds snowboards. found this in my email but I can’t open it for some reason:
  9. Ah, got it! Thanks for that clarification I appreciate it!
  10. Per the Bomber site, on their parts page, the toe pieces for the stepins are the same part numbers as the heel pieces for the standards. Are these not the same parts?
  11. Sorry, don't think my original post was clear, so I altered it a bit... I'm looking for TD1 or TD3 toe bails w/clips and toe blocks. I want to convert a set of TD1 stepins and a set of TD3 stepins to standard non-stepin type bindings with toe clips... Sorry, no TD2s...
  12. Anyone have some toe bails w/clips and toe blocks for TD1s and/or TD3s that they would part with?
  13. Side note...ended up finding a used set of Scarpa T3 telemark boots in a size 32, that have had the duckbill cutoff. They fit great as is, but might still get new liners for them! Hoping to use these as my non-corduroy hardboots (trips out West with softbooters, trees here in New England, powder, etc) on my all mountain type boards and splitboard.. Will be curious how they do on corduroy too... Oh, and still on the quest for new 32 true snowboard hard boots...or might try new liners in my Heads.
  14. Starting to look for new boots. Currently in Head Stratos Pro mondo 31.5, with some grinding work done in them. Everywhere I look the biggest I seem to find is 31. Really want a 32 this time around....getting older and my feet are getting flatter... Any companies make a 32? I hear UPZ run big, any truth to that?
  15. Only Feb 19 + 20 off for my kids here in CT...not the entire week for us anymore, due to the recent years' amount of school closings..."oh it might snow tomorrow, better cancel school now."
  16. So... Thursday - Solitude Friday - Snowbasin Saturday - Powder Mountain Sunday - Brighton Overall a great trip. Didn't get to go to Whisper Ridge like we planned, at their advice. But had a blast around the other mountains. Got to rip some soft groomers. Got to ride the PowMow single ride cats a few times, doing Hook Chute, Y Chute, and bunch of stuff off the Rain Tree cat. For half the trip I wish I had hardboots, but the other half I was happy in softboots... Longer (8 min) video: Shorter (1 min) video:
  17. Yup, heading to Solitude today. 48 is the expected high on the mountain... Whisper Ridge has called and is urging us to take a credit and not go cat riding this weekend. But they will take us if we really want to go. Probably not going. Tempted to drive to Grand Targhee. If not, then Pow Mow tomorrow, with Saturday and Sunday up in the air. Snowbasin one day maybe. We'll see....will make the best of what we get. 2 years ago it was even warmer when we were here, 60 on the mountains, mid-70s at the condo at Wolf Creek in Eden.
  18. I'll be at Powmow a week from Friday and Whisper Ridge a week from Saturday and Sunday. I so can't wait! Almost splurged on the yurts but couldn't this trip....
  19. Mark, we definitely plan on spending at least one day at PowMow, love that place. And I did hear about the 2 new lifts, saw them putting up the towers on one of their social media feeds, Also heard PowMow's lead cat guide is now working for Whisper Ridge...and PowMow may not run cats beyond lightning ridge any more...all rumor...but who knows...
  20. Hitting Pow Mow, Snowbird, Snow Basin and maybe others in early March with some softbooters. They want to get out for a day in a cat. Can anyone recommend which, Whisper Ridge Cats or Pow Mow Cats? And why? We are staying at Pow Mow. But 3k acres accessible to Pow Mow Cats versus 60k acres accessible to Whisper Ridge Cats has me leaning towards Whisper Ridge. Not worried about the hourish drive unless we get dumped on. Both same general per person price. Is this Whisper Ridge's first year of operation?
  21. Sony's RX100 line is comprised of some great cameras. I have the RX100II. Great little camera. Very good ratings other more recent versions as well.
  22. PowMow was great. Snow Basin was great. Snowbird was great. The Canyons was fun. We home based out of Moose Hollow condos / Eden at the start of the access road to Powder Mtn. Day trips to the mountains I mentioned. Had a good time at all. If I were to do the same trip again, I'd probably skip the Canyons and double up at one of the other three. If I had 10 days out there, I'd do 3 or 4 days where I mentioned above, then drive to Jackson and Grand Targhee for a few days.
