I thought burton fires were intec compatible, but i could be mistaken. taken from the carvers almanac: Burton made several Intec compatible boots that are recommended:Burton Wind, 4-buckle + strap. Also, a women's version was made ('99), using a different last, designed for a lower calf position. Burton Fire, 4-buckle + strap. Stiffer then the Wind, with a slightly taller cuff. Burton Ice ('00), 3-buckle + strap, designed for women.

overall i think i like the article. The entertainment value is enough for me alone, but I feel like it presented a side of alpine carving that, like it or not, is just as present as the BOL savvy carving community: the middle aged washed up amateur racer hopping back on 90s gear for the first time since his heyday. I see these guys all the time, and still think theyre lame, but now i ive got a little more respect for them, even if they twist kinda funny when they carve their neon-spattered asyms.

In my opinion the most important part of that statement is the "searching" part. like you said, I feel you need to go through a few to figure out which one's gonna work the way you want. You can convince yourself that your board is the greatest despite its flaws or you can listen to explanations from great riders like Billy and Jack, but it really doesnt sink in until youre on new and different gear. right now I feel like the best all-arounder for me would be a skinny (20cm waist) metal axis in the low 70s range with a 14m scr. but I wont know until i can compare.

ive already pre-ordered five of them to go with my custom made decapitators. It's the only binding that wont crumble due to the force of fin's all titanal board.

i think ideally there are 4: the open groom carving board, the soft/chop/powder board, the ice/night board, and the rock/thin cover board. any more than that is excessive and confuses me...

Ive got a Pogo Overdose as my goto board and a Pogo Longboard as a powder/chop/slop board. I would like to get one more board, something in the 170 - 175 range with a large SCR as a goto board and make the overdose my night riding board (because its shorter than i want for the good days) but i cant afford it this year. maybe next year:(

perhaps the blax (F2 carve rs w/different paint) in the classifieds would be a good choice (100 OBO!) just make sure theyre not stepin/intec, get some pics
