  1. That's funny. Hey DFJ, that may be a way to fund your next trip???
  2. On an interesting note: The last board I had stolen was a Rossignol Levitation (big board with a picture of a hooka on the base - speaking of drugs) in the summer of 1999. To replace it I bought a Burton Factory Prime. I'd had a carving board before, but this was the board that really got me big-time into racing and carving. Some good can come from theft, if they still your twin-tip boards.
  3. A couple of tips. I assume you have a good wheelie board bag. I'll let the others discuss packing appropriately. 1) Carry your boots on the plane. They can lose everything else, but without boots you are screwed. Although there is a shop at Northstar that sells Head Stratos boots (Elite Feet). Last time I actually removed one set of bindings from the board and clicked them onto my boots as part of my carry-on. Just screw the whole thing together and click onto your boots. This way the worst you'll need to find is a board to ride (see tahoecarvers folks if you are in a bind - they are very helpful). Boots and bindings are heavy so this also helps minimize checked baggage weight. 2) Curbside check-in. These guys usually don't have scales, and even if they do, a $10 tip will virtually guarantee your heavy bag get on the plane with no over-weight charge. Not only is curbside faster and easier, its the best way I know to avoid the weight nazis. New airline bag restrictions have dropped weight limits dramatically. The overage cost is crazy (that's how they expect to make up for some of the money they are losing). I've never had a problem with a heavy bag getting through curbside check-in. I bring $5 and $10 bills for the guys there and it always works. Good news: the car rental at Reno airport is only about 100 yards from baggage claim and there are no stairs. Oh, and there's a big Sportmart across the freeway for the stuff you forget. REI in Reno is supposed to be a good place to get tuning done as well. If you need to tune gear yourself, look for a hookup on Tahoecarvers. I know there are people there who have places in Tahoe with tuning equipment (like that Randy guy who got banned from posting on BOL).
  4. Jack, You of all people should know that reposting is a
  5. When he gets out, you can post his name all over the web so folks can deliver some frontier justice.
  6. Regarding eBay: New ebay coupon codes: I have not tested any of these. If they work for you, please post here to let the rest of us know. I am guessing that they are a tie-in with PayPal -- i.e., you have to pay through PayPal in order to get the discount. Save 10% (up to $25) CODE: c-march2006cat (expires March 31) Save $10 (min. $50 purchase on fashion) CODE: c-apr2006fashion (valid April 1-15) Save $20 (min. $100 purchase on technology) CODE: c-apr2006tech (valid April 16-30) Alternate 10% off code: C-MAR2006ANNIV (expiration unknown) Some codes may not work for your ebay account, so YMMV.
  7. Really. Someone email the thread link to Rick Ferguson and CMC so they can come spice things up.
  8. Blue-Tomato used to sell them. They may still have some.
  9. Hey, there is Tuckerman Ravine. That's pretty steep IMO. Not much lift serviced qualifies though. Lex - get a helmet ASAP!
  10. Bummer....Was he partying w/Bordy and the PC crew?
  11. Fuel Injection also helps if you fly upside down! Your argument re: the boards makes sense. Go for it. I had a FP 178 for a few years and it was a great board. Just make sure you can get 3-hole disks for whatever bindgings you plan to mount. The Classified section of BOL is a good source.
  12. No offense to Klug/Burton, but any particular reason for that purchase plan? 3-hole binding mounts are increasingly difficult to find, I doubt there's much if any warranty on those boards, they are old (except the Addicted ones). Seems a better deal to buy a brand new, awesome Donek, Prior or any board you find on Bomber. That said, I can't help you with your original question.
  13. Me = Righty Goofy Kid 1 = Lefty Regular Kid 2 = Righty Regular
  14. What do you mean? You mean cant? I use the 3 degree cant in front, with pure toe lift and 6 degree in rear with mostly heel lift, but some inward cant. There are loads of discussions here on cant/lift.
  15. Looks to me like you got the front seat. The one where the driver can keep an eye on the really bad kids. That was one of the funniest posts ever on BOL.
  16. If they are brand new pants, send them back to Helly Hansen. They should replace them with no questions.
  17. Curiously, I had a good friend experience something similar. He's in his early 40's and basically had a stroke from a blood clot. The only speculation I heard that made any/some sense was that sometimes things as simple as visiting the dentist or flossing your teach can cause it. Bacteria gets in your blood and causes a clot. Weird. He has a stent in a vein now. It was scary when it happened. Glad to know you are OK.
  18. What's wrong with PayPal? Faster, cheaper and easier.
  19. Show us some pics Willy. The beer is great, no way the board is that good. If you want a good one, figure out a way to screen print the label on a big piece of cloth, send it to Sean @ Donek and he'll make it into a board for you.
  20. I like the reversed bottom buckle like on AT boots. This will help a lot when postholing along in deep snow, or just stepping off the board in deeper snow on a powder day. My bottom buckles always come undone in these situations. Having the clasp on top should minimize that problem.
  21. Get him to make an awesome split tail powder board custom. That way the rest of us can buy it as an already available pattern. 185 length, swallowtail (a la Winterstick), 22-23cm waist, huge sidecut, big pointy nose. Stiff enough in the middle that it won't break. Reinforce the swallow section for the same reason.
  22. Ha! My housemate is a Pirate on occasion. Freakin' hilarious. Plus he wears a kilt and does swordfighting at Renaissance Faires. His room is quite a place. On the side he creates an online comic strip. Quite the interesting guy.
  23. Maybe so, but wasn't it Neptune who built the course that wrecked Grahame Watanabe a couple seasons ago? The slow snow/fast snow explanation makes some sense. Anyone have any first hand info?
  24. That's a tease! Tell us at least a little more? Length? Who is he building it for?
  25. I know a lot of people run a stepin on their rear foot and bails on front. Why does Bob have it the other way around? Don't make sense to me. I did laugh at that pic, the logo on the front of the Donek makes it obvious its Bob's board. Oh, and the broken board pic was cute too.
