  1. Bob, We send all the surfer dudes who can't play well in the sandbox off to the ice coast. Hence your experience.
  2. going to get This is gonna get good! :p
  3. It isn't usually the radio or TV that messes me up, its the internet. People should put "SPOILER" in the heading of any post that talks about results. Another forum I frequent has that as a policy and most folks abide by it (or they get flamed if they don't). Also just my yahoo homepage has sports results so if I'm not careful, those can spoil it for me. I was setting Tivo this morning for some stuff and went to nbcolympics.com. I tried to ignore it, but it spoiled tonight's Tivo for me a little. Now I know that if I want the detailed listings w/out results flashing all over the place, to go to www.nbcolympics.com/tv
  4. Real buckles on '07 Raichle boots! Plus the bottom one is reversed like AT boots so it won't flip open when you are post-holing! F'ng fabulous.
  5.   Ha Ha. I was reading that thinking 'the guys a stoner.' Then you confirmed it! I do that sort of stuff all the time when I'm baked.
  6. If you make it up to Tahoe, there's one shop that carries the new Head boots. I'm all for supporting Fin, but if you want a place to try them on, then that's an option. They also do a great job fitting boots. Its called Elite Feet at the Resort at Squaw Creek. They also have a store at Northstar but that store doesn't have the Head boots yet.
  7. If you aren't familiar with Steep and Cheap, you should be. Each day they have one item they sell at really discounted prices. They put up the item at midnight mountain time. Today its a Head back protector vest for $46.99. That's a deal. Act quick because once they are sold out, you are SOL. Here's the link. Tomorrow it will be a different item.
  8. Dude. Spare us colorblind folk. Pick a different background color (not dark green - that's just as bad). Red on black is impossible for the colorblind to read. Sorry to hijack your thread.
  9. Just watched the opening ceremonies. Tyler was on there for about .2 seconds.
  10. I have those boots also. You can heat mold the liners, but it will have minimal effect on the angle pocket area. You can have the shells punched out there. The Head boots have great shells that will hold up well to doing some customization to the shell (unlike some other snowboard boots that aren't made as well as the typical ski boot). Do you have custom insoles now? If not, I'd recommend going to Surefoot. There's one in NYC at 69th & 3rd. They'll make you a custom footbed for just under $200, but once you pay that, they'll do any work necessary to fit your boots. Plus you can go to the one at Kilington if you are up in VT and still need some tweaking. They make great footbeds and in my experience do really quality boot work. Plan on spending 2 full hours there to have all the work done. If you really want fully custom liners, you could go with Conform'able foam injected liners (Surefoot sells them). They are expensive though - about the same amount you paid for your boots. They will also stiffen up your boots a fair amount and be a bit uncomfortable the first day or two that you wear them (after which they'll be awesome). Thermoflex liners are a cheaper alternative, but IMO won't be much of an improvement over your Head liners (there's just not enough spare room around the ankle if you really do have freaky wide ankle bones.
  11. I like the way the little dots jump when you look at the animation of the BX. Cute.
  12. Cool article. Interesting picture. Is Tyler riding on Coiler/Catek now? Last I saw he was on Tomohawk boards with Burton bindings. Go Tyler Go! Fast! Oh, and everyone should go out and buy some Welch's grape juice and then email their PR team saying how surprised you are at what terrific juice it is and how you'd never have tried it if it weren't for Tyler!
  13. There goes my whole workday tomorrow.
  14. That 70's looking gear is ugly. Too bad for the team. Lousy souvenirs. How about this item from Reliable Racing though. MORE COWBELL!!!
  15. Just an FYI, Superfeet is not the same as Surefoot.
  16. I've used Surefoot for my boots. Do you have custom footbeds already? If not, I'd suggest having them make you a set. They charge a lot for them (around $190). However they are great footbeds and will last a very long time. Plus, once they make you footbeds, they will do ANYTHING necessary to make your boots fit perfectly. Forever. Go there your first day in town. Get them all set and then go back as many times as necessary during the week until the boots are perfect. Plus you can go to any Surefoot location for future work. Plan on spending 2 hours there the first time you go visit. They aren't fast, but they are good. FWIW, I've never been to the Surefoot in Aspen, just the ones in Park City and Squaw Valley. They have the oven to mold your liners too.
  17. Back on topic: I really like the Ultimax super thin socks. Really great for tight fitting boots. Febreeze works well in boots. As does Boot Juice (I think I got it from Reliable Racing or one of those outfits). Works best with a boot dryer. I never tried the freezer approach. Not sure my liners would fit in there with the food and stuff. My kids boots get pretty stinky after a while. I use boot juice pretty regularly along with a dryer and it works pretty well.
  18. Then there's Randoneee. Randonee is a French word that means "Can't Tele".
  19. WTF? Rent a car and drive to Tahoe. Stay in Reno for dirt cheap and ride Squaw, Alpine, Northstar, Heavenly, Kirkwood, Rose. Way bigger mountains than what you'll find on day trips from Seattle. Go to www.tahoecarvers.com for suggestions and riding partners.
  20. URL above doesn't work. Try This Link. I think you'd find that to be a great camp. I suspect you'll see Lisa Kosglow around that weekend too. Too bad its a Boreal. Although if you are just going to run gates, it doesn't matter too much.
  21. Order a Bomber Needs Your Help kit and you'll get some Bomber Butter. Put it on the ramps of the receivers and you won't get a lot of wear on them. Plus you'll get cool stickers and be helping out the Bomber Legal Defense Fund!
  22. Rick, You are WRONG! If you can make the tail sink, the nose will float better / stay afloat better. To a certain extent, you can accomplish the same effect by moving the bindings to the back of the board. However, giving it more of a swallow tail will definitely work better, especially in light, fluffy powder. In Tahoe the 4807 is pretty good, but it still lacks something on fluffy days. Its a major improvement over many other boards, but it could benefit from this mod. Its not like surfboards where any design will work the same, regardless of conditions, rider and other stuff, right? I think you know something about surfboards, no?
  23. I'm 5'10" and ride about 19.5" stance width. Measure the base plates when you mount them (center to center - use the little fingers as the center point. If you matched your freestyle stance, I suspect you could go a lot narrower. Its impossible to tell from the photos. As D-sub suggested, having some boot overhang won't be an issue for you for a while. Feel free to back off into the high 40's, low 50's even. Its hard to make the huge jump from F/S stance angles to 60 degrees all at once. Another option: Just don't turn. Point the sucker straight down the hill!
  24. Bummer. I have to be in Seattle that day. That would have been fun. I just mapquested it to see how far it was before I realized I have to travel that day. Mapquest says 775 miles and 12.5 hrs. Either that or a $375 r/t on Southwest. Too bad I can't blow off my client. Please give us more warning next time. Thanks.
