  1. heading up tomorrow (friday 2017/01/27) and would love some company! i will be wearing grey with brown pants and green helmet. probably going to be staying vista/daisy side.
  2. got me a pretty prior 169 wcrm with td2s from bryan/oldsnowboards :)
  3. currently planning to go up sunday. weather shows sun with some clouds but snow the previous day. how should i divine this? will they groom? should it be decent? i will have room in my car if anyone is interested..
  4. dang is right... might rethink my sunday plan to get up to meadows...
  5. i try not to get upset about things that nothing can be done about. i was tempted to try and rent something and salvage the day but it felt too forced... the bit about the mt being beautiful was to report back conditions for the sake of the thread. a positive is that i have the opportunity to try and find a board that is a better fit for me. the lotus was a bit short and too stiff i think. i do not feel stable at high speeds and it was really tough to flex... so yeah, not the greatest day on the hill but i made the best of it and came out un-injured. i broke the lotus. i email you some pics...
  6. not to bad of a day up on hood. snow was fast, little soft but could hold an edge. rode up with a friend and got up later so it was a little tacked out. started the day up MHE down voyager to SS. one my first chair on SS i caught an edge bad, flipped, and de-lammed my board at the front binding. the thing is totally borked. got a nice toboggan ride down the hill from ski patrol and drank in the bar all day waiting for my friends. got a pass voucher so its not all bad but my googles got nicked to boot... so yeah, anyone one got a kessler they want to kick down to me for a few hundred ;) ? also brian, you are welcome to my cocoon lotus for the museum if you want it (its the hooger booger tailed board...)
  7. thinking about hitting meadows tomorrow with the alpine gear (got a job so i got to brave the weekend crowds)... how have the grooms been?
  8. i made it there at 8am (roads were as clear as i have ever seen them) and got first chair on shooting star. it was beautiful up there with groom and an amazing sun/clouds/colours all throughout the day. in the morning the trails were fairly stiff, a little to stiff for the years absence. i had forgotten how to really control my board and my heelsides were ****e, this was paired with being timid about how stiff the snow was. to top it off my boot strap broke and i had to hobble down the mountain to the pro shop. we got the strap taken care of and i talked with rob (who knew a thing or two about alpine). got back up to shooting star and switched up between the ridge and voyager, carving came back to me and i was ripping turns. spent a while on SS then headed over to vista/daisy and cascade express, never found a good run on them so i went back to SS. i think there were only 5 rows of cars there, no waits for lifts, and you had runs all to yourself. despite the so so morning, i had a great afternoon and got a lot of runs in by not having to wait. my legs gave out abut 2:30 and my feet were not too happy so i headed home. i definitely have some boot issue especially my back (left) foot. in order to have control i cranked my boots tight and i am paying for it now... the side of my foot is quite swollen and its a bitch to walk. i pushed myself fairly hard especially considering i have been getting about 4 hours of sleep a night for a few weeks now (my architectural final was yesterday) and while i should have slept, i could not pass up the conditions... i think the trail of the day was def voyager, i could carve up the one stretch and the rest was an easy ride down. while i like the size and length of the ridge way more, the turn to the steep section under the lift is just too steep and tiring for me...
  9. i had a great time up on thursday. beautiful blue skies... met up with brian and mike @ vista after a few runs on shooting star. me or my board just could not keep up (it felt sticky) but we got some runs in before the crowds maddened. being still fairly green to alpine riding i was a little nervous on steeper runs because of speed/control. i was tentative to go down stadium but it turned out to be one of my best runs so i feel like i am getting a bit better... a pouched another run a little later on stadium and was having the best run of the day until a guy ran out in front of me waving his arms... that run had the best snow... things warmed up and my legs got noodlely so i took off around 230 good day up.
  10. anyone heading up and got some room? thanks! alex
  11. well... if you decide to fight the crowds bring along an extra tanker for me ;) actually, i think i would kill myself on a board that big....
  12. it might be a tough day then because all i got is my little lotus setup, regardless, i will give it my best go... the report says snow at times so perhaps the groomers will not get too covered... are the slopes not packed enough to hold an edge?
  13. my friend rob and i are heading up to meadows tomorrow. i do not have an all mountain board so i hope the influx of snow will not sink my nose... anyways... if you are up look for me: olive green helmet, blue coat, brown pants, and a 158... i will be on SS, HRM, or vista and would be down to make some turns! also, are the grooming schedules predictable? yesterday they did not groom SS but today they did. do they alternate or is it at their whim?
  14. looking to head up with a softbooter (he says he likes to go fast...) i know that it is a less than ideal day (everyone and there mum with shinny new stuff to clog up the runs..) but my schedule prevents the luxury of midweek off peak riding. we are staying the night before in the reed college cabin then hitting it early! weather looks like it will be partly cloudy with a chance of snow. i only ask for nice groomers and some visibility ;) let me know if you want to make a run!
  15. [point of information] i am living down in eugene so there is one more hardbooter down here! yet me know if people want to hit it! ...at least til architecture school starts...
