  1. What do you do with your boots now? Do ride with the boots locked on groomers and switch to walk mode in powder? Your binding angles play a roll in this as well IMO. I rode in walk mode for 10+ years on groomers and powder. I have BTS with yellow springs now. If I were hitting pow I would stay with my yellow springs - they are pretty darn soft. I will be getting stiffer springs next season to see if I like em - I'm on groomers 99% of the time now.
  2. Dumb blonde?....dumber husband. This guy will never get head again for putting that vid online. Have fun wacking off to the Sears catalog and sleeping on the couch.
  3. Dude! You won a kessler? Congrats! If I remember correctly you have some good luck with ECES winnings.
  4. I do not detune, but I also wouldn't tune my edge up around the corners into the nose.
  5. Good lord...that pic is photoshop heaven. The addition of dildos and unicorns to that pic would surely have me banned for life.
  6. Great pics!! and great job too. That must have been reeeally fun to do.
  7. Pretty sure this means that I won. YEEESSSSSSSS!
  8. Ban me if you must Fin....but now we both know that I know your secret.
  9. Another fantastic event! Thanks to all of the organizers for a fun and well run event. Some of the highlights for me... Sharing a great beer with great people in the parking lot. Watching a line of talented carvers ripping down the mountain, each with their own style. Being able to talk about hardboots with someone that gets what the hell I'm blathereing on about. Reconnecting with friends. Tuesday morning on Liftline. There was a little blown in dust on top of pristine, firm hardpack. The sun was shining. About 6 - 8 of us were some of the first to hit this trail and it was just magic. Fast conditions with that little bit of fluff to give a few face shots when getting down into a turn. Shred let me borrow his Virus (thanks Shred!). What a great effing morning. Chasing PaulK around making the longest most roundabout way down the mountain possible. Most of all...just riding with friends. Thanks again for a great coupla days.
  10. 1 - Going to ECES. I was exposed to upper levels of riding, equipment and drinking that I'd never seen before. 2 - finding BOL. I've been on here since the old forum and have learned soooo much from this site 3 - moving out west. riding my hardboot setup anywhere and everywhere, on and off piste, made me a more rounded snowboarder 4 - moving back east and finding out that my west coast experience meant nothing on ice - east coast is where I was able to dial a lot of things in. 5 - always having a season pass, always being close to a ski lift. I go out for one run sometimes just for the hell of it.
  11. Just secured my time off for ECES. See you guys there. And thanks for gettin my good side in that helmet pic Shred...damn I look good :) That bus pic makes me shart every time I see it.

  13. I'd be up for meeting you guys at some point. I have a season pass to Mt Peter and have been riding there before work. I'm living at the Great Gorge condos temporarily due to home damage. I can walk to the Granite lift from my door. jt, sic t, carvingbassist, and the others that I have not met yet - lemme know when you're out again.
  14. On an original 158 I mounted the front foot as far forward as possible, then set the rear foot to a comfortable width. The ride was effing amazing. On a green sidewall 158 I mounted my front foot forward but not all the way, then set my rear foot to a comfortable width. a great ride as well.
  15. Liftie - "that's one of them flyin boards" on my next run... Liftie - "you make good swirls in the snow - i looked up an seen it" guy likes my swirls. life complete.
  16. ...what jt said Also give us some more details about your setup. Width of your stance, binding angles, any canting. Too narrow of a stance can keep you from positioning yourself where you want to be. Knees bent Keep your upper body "quiet" - especially on good old NY glare ice Be aware of your arms - keep them forward of your torso. An arm trailing behind you may unbalance you on ice. Look into your turns. The sound of ice can distract a person and make one look too closely towards the nose of the board. Put earplugs in to deaden the sound of scraping ice. It might help to concentrate your senses. Just don't drown out all sound. At the top of the run, grab your balls with one hand and beat your chest with the other like a wild silverback gorilla. Tell the mountain "I'm coming, do not f@$k with me." just sayin
  17. blasting snow last night. Guns were out in full force. should be soon! yeeehaw!
  18. WTF... Did some company have an overstock of steel frame sex swings? Hangboard just removed the dildos and bolted the frame to a board. Are the youtube vids even SFW? I refuse to watch any more tentacle pron. ........... Dear INtErnET, Please find a way for me to be @ss raped while sliding down a mountain. (response from INtErnET) You sir, are in luck. Look what I found for you! A hangboard! ........... And how the hell do you get out of that contraption at the bottom of a run? Or do you just smile, roll over and light up a cigarette and stare at the clouds with spent bedroom eyes. for a real board, check out this...http://www.cheetahultrasports.net/ :):)
  19. I would not get too hung up on AM vs freecarve. IMO the flex pattern and dampness will have a greater influence on getting you through the chop. A softer flexing, more damp ride won't bounce you around as much. If you are not in the park or the trees I wouldn't worry too much about it. no, you'll be fine This comment sticks out. Is this a regular thing? Keep at it and you will surprise yourself at how tight these boards will turn. A modern board (like the one that Sean will make for you) should give you a whole new outlook on carving. Not sure what you're on now but it sounds like you will be stepping it up a lot equipment-wise. Better grip, a smoother ride, more fun, etc. Our trails are short, icy, fairly narrow and can get somewhat cut up by end of the day. But then in the end its the rider, not the equipment. Your personality has a lot to do with it. Are you aggressive and hungry to ride whatever is in front of you? Are you looking for a more laid back ride with not too much work? You won't go wrong with a Donek. Listen to Sean. Have fun.
  20. http://www.freecarve.com/default.asp look for PSR
  21. +1 - and don't over grind the meat, pasty meat is not good IMO. Use the grinder plate with larger diameter holes. You can add fat to the mix if your meat doesn't have the marbling. Pork fat works nicely. Keep all the grinder parts ICE cold (put them in the freezer), including the meats, you'll get a better grind.
  22. I really enjoy slush in hardboots. The sensation of being able to push against the snow to manipulate turns is fun for me, skipping over the top or digging in hard. Early season it's omgIcan'tgettothehillfastenough. Mid season I'm feeling my legs under me and the edginess to get to the hill is gone. End of season feels sooo laid back to me. Reggae in all the lifty stations, t-shirt days etc. I have gotten my fill for the season and I'm just enjoying the ride.
  23. Best wishes to the people of Japan and everyone that is affected by this. The footage is unreal. The link below has a few different ways to help. http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_newsroom/20110311/wl_yblog_newsroom/japan-earthquake-and-tsunami-how-to-help
  24. I don't like long boards. I don't like wide boards. I absolutely loved riding this board at ECES. Of all the boards that I demoed (about 10), I had the most fun on this board. I had my usual angles of 60/60ish and this thing turned on a dime - counterintuitive for me at 23 wide. Suuuper stable. Lighter than my 170. The light weight was weird -the board is huge but weighs nothing. On snow the board can be flicked around at will. Landing aired transitions was a dream. Effing gobs of edgehold. ("effing gobs" is an industry term btw). Most fun board I've ridden since the Madd 158.
