pow4ever
Enjoy your stay and have fun! Lots of Alpine Snowboarders at the loaf. Mountain OPS does an excellent job on recovering from mother nature's surprises. It's just too far for a weekend trip for me.
Kneel
They haven’t had to work that hard. Been here since Monday. An inch or two of fresh per night is all they need.

Kneel
And the word is out. Not place to stay for me and my boys available for miles. I'm trying to escape 3-5 of "wintry mix" in southern VT...

TVR
If any hardbooters are on the Loaf Sunday, there is a USASA GS race gonna happen. Always good to watch the next generation and my kid will be racing it as well.
trailertrash
It's going to be mobbed here this weekend. Snow coming later today should make the drive up interesting for folks. Some pretty light snow/freezing rain happening now.
Kneel
Thanks, @Jack M. Will keep those in mind the next time. We got an offer to stay with some friends near Burlington. Much more favorable forecast up there. Still sugary, just a bush instead of a loaf. It’s pouring here in Dorset, VT...
trailertrash
The hostel is a good deal. It's on the shuttle route so you wouldn't have to drive to the mtn.

lonbordin
I'll be in Bar Harbor from the 12th until the 24th. Thinking about surfing.... If that doesn't happen probably sample Camden or Hermon. Maybe... just maybe I'll find my way over to the loaf. (How da' heck is the loaf so far away from Bah Hahbor?)
powdahbonz
Camden is a fun little mountain..better than Hermon..but I'd make the drive to Loaf. Think you're out of luck on the surf front...

powdahbonz
Yes, just that there are better options south of BH/MDI and that coastal vicinity

I've surfed nearly all the main breaks south of Camden to the Connecticut shore... Heck, Oahu is a better option too, doesn't mean I'm not going to be able to surf the BH area. Mahalo. trailertrash
If you're having trouble trying to decide between surfing in Maine in the winter and coming to Sugarloaf, which is arguably the best carving mountain on the East Coast, you should probably go surfing.
