SEJ
Got this from my buddy Thor. TONs of life left in it, but cosmetically, rode hard and put away wet. Actually most the topsheet damage was done by the plastic isolation plates he installed when he mounted it up. (Common back in 08 for metal topsheets)
SEJ
First thing was to repair the topsheet delam at the tail. The tear was only 1/2" long. Glued it back up with west systems Gflex epoxy.
SEJ
After demounting and pulling off the slippery piece of rubber, I ended up with this: Edited March 7, 2015 by SEJ
SEJ
So, the next step was to sand of the clear coat. I used 220 and it only took 10 minutes or so.
SEJ
]With the clear coat gone, this think looks mint! (Except for the lack of graphics) Next I wet sanded to 600. Let the polishing begin!

BlueB
Looking awesome! The easiest way to polish is to keep on increasing the grit of the sandpaper by 200 all the way too 1200. You might even not need the polishing compound.
SEJ
Automotive rubbing compound seems to be doing well, and I've got a killer buffer so it's easy.
lowrider
Looking nice ! Do you do Delorean's ?
big canuck
I have a pretty cherry one. Super nice boards. You did a killer job looks awesome. Can you get the stickers? Wouldn't be the end of the world to run it neked. Looks cool!
SEJ
Unfortunately, the graphics are airbrushed on. I was able to get close with the nose graphics through an online vinyl letter place. It was a pain getting the arch right. We'll see how it fits. Dan has one with different graphics, says afterburner on the tail. I'll probably add that as well. Maybe some flames, give it a little color. I'd LOVE to get my hands on the older graphics the glass ones had. The girl riding one between her legs. THAT would be cool. Tugboater
Get a pic of the graphics you want and have it airbrushed on.

The girl riding one between her legs. THAT would be cool. I might just put a giant Wusthof sticker on it and be done with it..

SEJ
I think I'm gonna red flame it after the polishing is done, then put the alpinepunk stuff on top.
Corey
Why are there no more pictures after polishing is completed? We NEED to see this! ;) I have a Volant stainless SL board that will be getting the same treatment over the summer. I'm hoping it turns out as well as yours did! Mine will truly be wall art though. BlueB
Try to ride it to, Corey. Its a great board. SEJ, you also can do the self adhesive vinyl masks cut at a sign shop, then sand in the graphics you'd like. You'll get a stunning combo of hi-polish and mate finishes.
Sailman
The alpinepunk website is gone, but it you want to have a look at your board here is a link https://web.archive.org/web/20081212181953/http://www.alpinepunk.com/ just select metalburner Edited March 11, 2015 by Sailman
