New Board Porn 2013-14

As requested, I am starting the new thread as I am jonesing for winter and am curious to see what everyone else is getting. Mike Tinkler built me a brand new machine at the end of last season that I gave a sneak peak of before, but now that the season is approaching (and I found my camera) I thought it would be good to share.

Specs are:

Length: 201

Sidecut: 11-14 m

Effective Edge: 168 cm

Nose Width: 32.7 cm

Waist Width: 26.1 cm

Tail Width: 30.7

Cambered board with slightly de-cambered/rockered nose and a wider nose profile than tanker. My normal boards are Rad-Air Tanker 200's and I am 200+lbs with size 11 feet, so that is why it is wider and a little more powder specific than my everyday rides.

cheers and pray for snow,

sandy

Mike built me a brand new machine that I cannot wait to ride. I will attach more pics later, but here is a quick video from Ipod (can't find camera ?&*^).

bottomless powder softie-surfing with a groomed return route. looks great.

With 26ww, riders weight range will be like 220-300 and more, I guess. Or some big and flat areas on the way.

Swallows around 185-190 with 24cm waist easily hadle 100 kilos guys in any conditions.

This might be the best place to ask this kinda thing... Anyone know what's up with Frank from Virus?!? Is he on summer holidays? I requested a new board a few months ago and sent a few e-mails but haven't heard from him. That's not like him at all, he usually replies to every e-mail within a couple days at most...

SVR, I hope you don't mind. I moved the comments from last years thread to your new 2013-2014 Board Porn Thread.

Actually I think I'm the only one. xy9ine has been trying to contact Kessler! Thanks if you could. It's not a rush, Frank and I just worked out a deal for a board back in May/June or so and I wanted to make sure he got the okay from me to proceed. He'll probably know me as the guy from Alberta buying an Avalanche FLP AFT 160 with a dark blue scheme. :D WANT TO GET IT TO POST PORN! :D

Hey Poutanen,

Well, that line of communication no longer goes all the way to Frank, Umm sorry. Late Summer is vacation time in Europe, Germans in particular seem to have months of it, so I would just be patient. I'm sure He has every intent on getting your new ride to you before the snow flies... My new "gal" should be arriving any day according to the Professor of Ptex.

TLN,

Yes, swallows will handle just about everything, but I wanted more edge contact for stability at speed and a little more versatility than a true swallow. I am considering expanding my quiver with a Swellpanik next so that I will have a surfy long swallow, but for now, the Tinkler is built for me as a very capable soft-boot carver and pow charging ride.

cheers,

sandy

I'm going swallows this season too. Will post a picture, when my quiver arrives. And I'm looking into swellpanik too, but before I order one, I'd like to know what I want from a swallow. Now I don't and I relly waiting for a season to try this. )

So I bought a board from the Donek sale:

185 REV Prototypestock dimension / Experimental Fiberglass Construction / not quite as damp as metal / REV Base

Sean said about the board,"The boards in prime condition. It was just ridden during testing a few times. We are experimenting with mimicking the behavior of metal laminates with fiber laminates. The glass version wasn't as damp. The carbon was as damp, but the reduction in weight resulted in a feel the racers didn't like. I think you'll find the fiberglass construction is more durable than the metal. That is our motivation for trying it. It does have the same amount of rubber that a metal board has."

Looks Great! Can't wait to get it on the hill! Thanks Sean!

Let us know how that board works and if you have ridden a metal board how it compares for you? I wonder if that board would be cheaper than metal if it was a production model and almost as good? Maybe it would last longe rthan a metal board although I am not wearing out the metal boards I have too fast. I have yet to wear them out.

Two newish boards for this season:

A BIG board for my height and weight, but Sean said it should be fun since it's all carbon, super light and softer in flex.

post-7685-141842395589_thumb.jpg

And my board to use when I have to hang out with my soft boot friends while they hit the trees and general crappy afternoon snow.

So the quiver contains:

Donek Rev 185 Carbon

Donek Saber 160 Glass

Donek Proteus 170 metal

Coiler VSR FC 169 metal

F2 Silberpfeil 162

Dynastar 3800 163

Burton Supermodel 163

Oxygen Proton 149 (for the cute girls on the mountain to try)

That's a lot of boards.

Those are nice!

Thanks!

I would love to try that Saber! Im riding a super custom FC Bamboo that is not far off from a saber.

Anytime we are both on the same mountain, my boards are open to demo.

Two sweet boards for the price of one!

It was the "Buy a a Rev, get a Saber for free" sale. Thankfully, I'm single and I don't have to justify my purchase or hide it.

My first board purchased firsthand and I guess this thread is to show off, so here I go :)

Plasma Carving Extreme

185 cm, 17 cm waist, and a perfect 12/14 m sidecut

All sorts of magic inside topped off with bamboo.

After testing the latest wares at Carving Masters in Austria this year, this was the one board (besides Donek's Proteous) that blew me away.
