Hell, looks pretty good to me for October. I think I <b>rode</b> there with about that much base in the unforgettably bad 2000/2001 season, or was that '01/'02?

Eric, did you decide to get a MHM pass ?

Yes, looks promising. Although , over the years, I have learned to not get to excited too early. Allot can change in a flash, good and bad.

Opted for the MHM this year. Worth a shot. Still debating the Bachelor 4 day pass (anyone want a Bomber plate?).

Definitely don't have my hopes up for an early season, but it's still cool considering there was nadda a day or so ago.

Too right, Bryan -- it sounds like the base went back to 0" in our last warm spell. I just jumped in on my pass though, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for another cold front. Eric, are you likely to be a mid-week rider, or will you be a weekend warrior like me?

Hey Dan, this is great news!! Glad you bought a pass, now with Eric coming back to the "Hood" we have a nice growth spurt in the carving crew at MHM.

Not sure- I work for myself, so my schedule is pretty flexible. My current plan is to have a "floating" day- I'll go up when the conditions are best. I need to investigate some options I might have for places to crash- would be great to be there for two days when I can swing it.

Cool Eric, post on BOL when you're heading up. Typically I only go midweek for powder, but nowadays on a big powder day the Hood River crew comes up in force and the whole mountain gets trashed in about 90 minutes (even midweek), so I might start heading up for midweek carving days instead.

And, if I ever get it together to get our pantry out of our guest room (we have been working on our kitchen for a looong time now) maybe we can put you up in Portland a night or two this season.

Thumbs up to that- could be a fun way to spend a full couple of days up there.

Mid week carving sounds great. I love powder, but I'm not a huge fan of spending hours on the highway in torrential rain to get it for 20 minutes. Work opposite the hooky masses!

GO EARLY (beat the heavy traffic up and get in line by 8:30am )

Go review some of the "Ride Board" posts/photos from 2010 , it will give you a good idea of the "lay of the land"

My wife, Nichapat and I went to opening day at Meadows yesterday….

Snow was dry and nice yesterday….

Good day for gradually getting back into the swing of things!

Needless to say …we timed it nicely …

We were there from around 12:45 till 4pm ….

There were not that many people when we arrived … but passed lots going home on our way up there ..

and as the day went on … less and less people there …as they headed home for Thanksgiving …

Of course …the new Aspen Style Gates are GREAT !!

And now that we have ditched disastrous AT&T and got awesome VERIZON … I can easily WORK up there as well …

so that is PERFECT !!!!

Hard for me to be away from Cell, TEXT and E-MAIL during the day for work …but Verizon makes that all possible now.

OH ...IF anybody wants advice on how to get out of their AT&T 2 year contracts with NO penalty ... ask me ... I just got BOTH ours cancelled ..

and did not have to pay ONE CENT ..after they originally said we had to pay $275 each to break the contract !!!

Temp was 32 degrees when we left Meadows yesterday ...at the parking lot !!!

I doubt I will be going back till after we get some more real snow again ...which does not look at all likely this coming week unfortunately !!

Seems like yesterday was the best day for this coming week !!

I wish I had stuck to my plan of getting fit this summer !!! Guess I will just have to get fit now !!! And loose about 6 or 7 pounds ..

which I was also supposed to do over the summer !!!

I can only comment about conditions as of Thanksgiving day.

On the "groomed" runs there was no threat of hitting rocks ....

I would not ride if I had to worry about hitting them with my boards.

A 23 yr old wilder "non hard boots" rider friend of mine ... went off the groom / through the trees etc and only hit one rock.

But ... that was Thursday ... today is Monday ... so can't comment on the current rock threat.

I doubt I will be going up there till there is another good dump of snow.

I went sunday with my daughters. Really conditions arent too bad for opening. Rode mex, vista, star. It was pretty hard because we had clear skies and if warmed more the carving wouldnt be bad. Meadows did good grooming and obviously blew some snow on the trouble spots to get them ready . If it snows one more foot it will be pretty good. Will try to head up next monday as its supposed to snow some in the next few days. I didnt hit any rocks but it was sunny with good visability so rode around them! :)

Thanks Jim. Great to hear about conditions from those who have been up.

Contractors finished nailing the sheet rock today. Inspection Thursday and start the taping / mud process on Friday. Starting to look like a house :)

Keep the updates coming. Photos would be really nice too!

Stefan. Just wanted to let you know that about half of the alpine crew at MHM seldom if ever post hear on BOL. Don't be afraid to introduce yourself if you see another hardbooter, most are my friends and they a great guys. Maybe they will show you around to the best carving spots.

Grab the map. Look for "Shooting Star Ridge" , several areas off the "Vista Chair Lift" are good.

"Daisey", "North Canyon" and if they open "Hood River Meadows" it is a long low angle run.

Have fun, bring your camera please!!

Wow Bryan, that's a lot of drywall - any time they bring a crane to deliver your purchase, you know you've got some work ahead of you. Your place looks great with sheetrock!

I've been out of town and mainly offline for a couple of weeks. I'm headed back tomorrow though, and looking forward to getting up to Meadows.

T-Line is looking good for Dec. 1st. on their web cams.

Whats the matter with the Molly's chair? Seems as it hasn't been running for days.

Lots of "Weekenders" to pack it out nicely. Jim, I think you called it, Monday should be really good.

I have two crews coming, I will keep looking for the reports until I can finally go up.

I think Stefan planned to go today?

Surface Conditions: Groom is packed powder up high, heavy snow down low.

The main lot is now full. 9:20 AM
