snow was great today. thought for sure it would be crap being so warm out.

joe and i were there.

the airbag event was going on. there were some pretty wild jumps. i did see one kid do a backflip where he nailed his head on the lip of the jump. seemed fine.

tried GoPro to capture eye movement. too much glare from the sun. wearing clear lenses gave me a headache. the weight of the camera on my goggles didn't help either.

Noon Carving

i went riding after i fixed my boots. that's a project that i don't want to repeat.

snow was in good shape. the lighing was flat. took me a couple runs to get used to it all. overall felt great. looking forward to tomorrow morning.

Boot Repair

here's what the fintecs look like on the inside.

<a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/eFRg5nTnK9z8NG7iT0JuC3rH07UORgH08A1LDWyRG4g?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-1DUtiTKLJBc/T0eqFkJ7XcI/AAAAAAAAAG0/97G0WNboYCw/s800/DSC01209.JPG" height="600" width="800" /></a>

took me all week to fix both my boots. on my last t-nut to replace, the screw head was stripped. tried one of those tools to extract the screw but it made problems worse -- the damn thing broke off inside the screw. p.o.s.! :angryfire i tried drilling the head but because the grabit was still lodged in the head the drill bit wandered.

out of desperation, i ended up prying the heel off. i removed the remaining screws and mounted the boot in the binding backwards. i mounted it backwards for leverage. i pried the heel off by moving the boot forward and back. this snapped the threads off the t-nut. i removed the threaded portion of the t-nut with a pliers. i thought the screw would simply drop out of the hole on the fintec. nope. i had to hammer the screw out. took several hard blows. in the photo its the bottom right hole. there was lot of rust from the t-nut that seized the screw.

i cleaned up the assembly and put bomber butter on the moving linkage and springs. felt like new.

The Snowboard & Twin-Tip D-Teams will be at Buck on Sunday. They'll be here from 8am to around 3:30, and will be in the Rail Yard and on Warners Way. Expect about 150-200 kids. Warners Way already has features set up on it, and is partially closed.

On Saturday, the Ski Challenge Individual Championships will be taking place on Milk Run, from about 9 to 3.

Morning

erik, alex, myself on hardboots. bobd on skis.

snow was excellent! blue bird skies! :biggthump

early morning i was hauling a tv set upstair and i must've strained my back. i didn't feel any pain until i got to the chalet. i thought it might be an early day. endorphins kicked in after 3rd run. good times!

ski challenge was going on. crossroads didn't have much traffic for awhile. we were pushed over to olympic which was fine by us. almost had olympic to ourselves. went back and forth between olympic and crossroards.

didn't want to leave. after erik and alex left i went in for a break and came back out. did a few more runs. had to wait for space. stared at crystal lake for a while and realized that i too tired to compete with skiers/snowboarders. left around 1pm.

now my back is bothering me.

Evening

brought out the rusty scupper. snow was snow cone, at least my version of it anyway.

some skiers were carving deep ruts. me, not so much. forgot how to ride in softboots.

it started snowing when i got there.

Morning

showed up. i was in the lift line when i saw erik struggling down crossroads. i thought it was because of the skiers warming up on crossroad, there weere alot coming down the run. turned out that crossroads was rutted to hell. there must've been a course set up, the light was flat so it was hard to see. what i could see was not good -- ice.

went to warners. it was groomed snowcone. it was too fast for me with flat light. erik was holding his own but he was not liking it.

we both left after a couple runs.
