Plus Buck Hill was there looooong before the townhomes.

That kind of flooding happened a lot, nothing new this year. The grading on Milk Run didn't make matters any worse than normal.

Lots of snow left, no customers left. At least, not enough to remain open and still make money.

It was too warm overnight to groom, last night was the first night they HAVEN'T groomed so far. Depending on what Saturday's weather brings, things should look good for Monday morning. We're closed Sunday, but the forecast for Sunday night is about 20 degrees, and just around freezing for Monday, so everything will get groomed Sunday night.

Fat Lady ain't singin' yet, Buck will stay open until April 6th, although will be closed Easter Sunday. 10am-6pm next week, 9am-6pm next Saturday.

Depending on tonight's weather, we may make a bit of snow overnight to touch things up a bit. We still have plenty of base, but yesterday's rain didn't do the surface any favors.

Couple of reasons we groomed: the forecast was calling for fairly stiff winds at the back-end of the snow, so that was going to just blow everything into drifts, and expose nasty hard-pack below. Also, we tend to be somewhat steepness-challenged, and 10" of fresh powder, while beautiful and all, would be damn-near impossible for most Minnesota skiers & boarders to get through. Mound of snow @ bottom of Milk Run is for our Quarter-Pipe Dreams Competition this Thursday.

We've tried to get Google to correct the map, but so far they have not responded.

Wednesday morning the Race Clinic is on from 10 to noon, and the Ski Jammers have their year-end race on Milkrun in the evening. The Buck Team is using Milkrun at night these days as they train for the final events & championships of the year. That's in addition to their courses on Olympic Dreams. Saturday will be a busy day, Airbag at the bottom of Redtail Ridge, Winchfest on Milkrun, Bed Race at tubing at 5pm. Sunday is just the Airbag Jump. Last chance of the season to try it out, and on Sunday Josh Tranby will be here from 12 to 3pm giving tips on using the Airbag. Should be fun!

Nothin' going on at Buck. Thursday is the last night of Ski Challenge, so other than a course here or there, racing is mostly wrapped up, the big exception being Saturday March 9th, which is the D-Team Invitational.

FYI, D-Team races are at Buck this weekend, both days. Warner's Way & Milk Run will have courses on them from 9am to about 3pm each day.

2 notes: On Sunday Buck is hosting the Snowboard D-Team competition, which will be mainly located on Warner's Way. Not a huge group, but worth noting. Also, snowmaking will start up Sunday night and go for a few days, though not full force. Just a half dozen guns or so, but covering most of the area over those few days.

Looks to me like the "II" is just covered in the first picture, on the truck. You can see they added a protective covering to the metal wherever they strapped it down.

Government-run (even quasi-government-run) areas tend to have a set life for things like chairlifts. Whether they need to be replaced or not, they get replaced. Hyland is in the process of replacing one of their lifts this summer too, because the calendar said it was time.

The Snowboard & Twin-Tip D-Teams will be at Buck on Sunday. They'll be here from 8am to around 3:30, and will be in the Rail Yard and on Warners Way. Expect about 150-200 kids. Warners Way already has features set up on it, and is partially closed. On Saturday, the Ski Challenge Individual Championships will be taking place on Milk Run, from about 9 to 3.

These temperatures certainly have been tough on snow conditions this winter (if that's what you can call it so far). Snowmaking will start up again for a few days later this week, and that should help a lot.

I think there are some D-Team races at Afton this Sunday.

...and snowmaking will resume Wednesday night and go through Thursday night. Then we look to be getting back to near-normal temperatures.
