west carven
howdy all last year was a great carving year with mostly sunny days. beautiful firm groomers most of the time, the year before was mostly powder fest every day. really hard to tell what you'll get. Cuban Carving Gooding
I'm glad to see the interest in the Big. If we were having this chat in May when the flight was $200 dollars less I would say sure thing. Paul what week were you thinking about? Dr D
flight prices will change 50 times between now and game day! Watch for flight specials online and watch the BM wwebsite for housing and lift ticket deals.
Paulk
Hey all, Shred and Cuban, I always head out to Colorado a week before SES...It's been my secret to ride Summit County to aclimate prior to heading into Aspen....Thus the comment on tying the two trips together..So the last week in January suits me well.... I will adjust to whatever dates work out...you guys know that already. I would like to hook up with dredman and johnasmo if they decide on the dates though. Just got back from camping in Watertown Park(alberta/ BC / US line)...and hiking on the glaciers, hmmm Montana was so close.... It's gonna ba a long summer at this rate.
Dr D
johnasmo hardly misses a day on the mtn all season. hooking up with him isn't a challenge:lol: Dredman is no longer local but is relatively close I would think he has some flexibility. Hard to say till they all check in I guess. any of those weeks works for me. I just need a month or so lead time to get the extra days off. boarderboy
If this were the year, does Big Mountain have some "mellow" groomed Blues, or lesser Blacks an out of shape duffer could rest on in between intermittent stabs at the steeps? Helmut Karvlow
SES = Sausage Extravaganza Session? Hey, the hot tub ratio was 3 to 1 when I was in it. maybe not when Fin was in it, but I wasn't checking either:freak3: I remember boy shorts come to mind;) and NO not on a boy!!!!!!! You want to answer border boy's question about outa shape rest areas at the fish...........you are an expert right! The fish is an easy place to ride Groomed runs. some steep stuff once in a while is groomed. they used to do a Great job on the grooming. don't know any more ask Doc. he rides the groom every now and then......mostly off! Shred Gruumer
Yes... ahhhh relax and ride and nobody to hit.. Plus Im riding softies now!!! but... if I go it alone I may venture to Canada or some other non traveled mountain.. To hell you ride comes to mind,,, SES is still on the list though... will see what kind of numbers $$$ comes out.. RSS
boarderboy
We have it all minus the people:biggthump I have nothing against the Sausage Extravaganza - I really hope to make it some day soon, if just to observe the notorious hot tub sessions. But I've already been to Aspen/Snowmass (back when I was in shape and Snowmass alone could have kept me busy for a couple of weeks, even then), and I'm trying to keep completely new experiences/places on my "Top 15 Things to do Before..." list. Boarding Montana will surely be near the top of the list (along with seeing Big Mario do his subtle mountain samba at Loveland...). Trying to B.S. less on BOL since I've not started so many projects I'd "announced" on here. But when you guys come up with probable date(s?) for BMES (er WFES), I'll start plotting, scheming, and saving shekels in an earnest attempt to make it. Based on Doc's recent commentary about the local "public servants", this southern hothead has some concerns about getting past the border checkpoints, but where there's a will... (First) meeting Mellow Yellow outside Possum's Pouch would be a hoot, and what hardbooter's career would be complete without meeting the co-conspirator (designer?!) of der Schtump, I mean der Schtubby. (Think that's Shred...?) Finally, to me, westcarven's running commentary has always been one of the most enjoyable things on the Forum. So I'll watch this thread with much interest. Big pool of cold air in the Northeast extends down into the hills of Western Possum's Pouch. Supposed to be 57 F in Boone tonight... just 3+ hours away... hmmm BB

dredman
A week at Big Mtn. followed by a week at SES! On the drive from Whitefish to Aspen we could stop by at Grand Targhee(my home resort). So for you folks fortunate to have 2 weeks off. Lets plan traveling/riding from Big Mtn to Targhee to Aspen... We will have to throw in a Turner Mtn day also while in NW Montana. Drop me an email.. Just a thought. DrD. Aspen was vacant other than all of the carvers, never a lift line. Just like Big Mtn on weekdays.
