  2. actually, i think it was Al gore that invented the snowboard.
  3. thats a reproduction though, and still going for 30?
  4. I'll take it! let me know where and how much to paypal you.
  5. for me, i started off by putting the angles as low as possible without over hang and then add 2-3 degrees in the front. The cant was essential for me to get heelside down, but that is something you'll have to play around with. I only had a rear cant. Stance should be your regular stance with while standing with feet shoulder length apart, at least thats what worked for me. Good luck.
  6. Money being tighter than I thought, and having no luck on my search for an Arc'tyrex, I'm going for the Mountain Hardwear Epic Trifecta Jacket. originally $250, i'll be getting it for $100 so it should last quite a while. Anyone have any input on these?
  7. Still haven't gone yet!!!! Won't be able to go till after finals (12/15) but even then, i chose to work to avoid the crowds during the highschool break rush and make some $. I'll be there for 2 weeks starting january 2nd to the 15th before school starts back up again. See ya guys in a month or so.
  8. Welcome to bomber! but wow, that really blows, sorry to hear that. I can't believe someone would do something like that. Just imagine how much business this has brought, and will bring to the town, and they fail to recognize you...sad world we live in.
  9. exactly why i love my big zigs. Excellent wheels. Although I have very little to compare them to.
  10. I can't wait to get a nice custom footbed. Next year is when I'm planning on droping big $ to get my fit right. Riding in complete comfort is something I can only dream of right now.
  11. i'm gonna pass on going to loon on the weekends. I can miss my classes on wednesdays, so i'll try to head there this wednesday for my first day. I'll be taking full advantage of my friends' condos at Sunday River this season too, so my weekends will be spent there instead. I hate going to loon on weekends. Loon is still my favorite though. Get enough carving in for me, since my days this year will be much more limited. JD, hope your sister is aright.
  12. sorry i missed it (no internet in the aparment yet...f'ing comcast!) Happy belated bday.
  13. nice to hear about the speedy start of recovery. You guys are extremely lucky, and he is very fortunate to have a dad like you. Keep it up!
  14. is it worth going yet? Hows the snow?
  15. that carbon board was nice!! Too nice almost. I'd hate to take a tumble on it because I'd be afraid to bang it up. I'd like to put some of those downhill trucks with ceramic plates in the middle. They help build up momentum. I can't find the picture right now, but it was in a section on silverfish where people customized their Vangards and Dervishes.
  16. I love mine more with every turn. I get bored of the way it handles so i just loosen the trucks and it feels like i have a new board. God i love it! Just started to get the wheels to begin sliding, but nothing big yet. The big wheels it comes with are nice for the crappy pavement of boston. Saved me many times.
  17. awesome board for beginners.
  18. I think if you make your order now, you might recieve it before february.
  19. I usually do a few runs with the stones when I get home and I find it didn't help out too much. I must be doing something wrong then. The edges never really stayed even close to as sharp as they were before. Maybe it was all the questionable snow I was riding? I know that with PTC, the edges get vulcanized because of the way he does it, so the tunes do last longer than a regular tune.
  20. wish i was there Will probably wait till next year. Btw, Gecko, I'm going to go with what you recommend and stray away from the DH or evo, for now. I'm going to get a demonseed or hellcat for next spring. Focusing on snowboard gear now.
  21. ben, i have ridden a ptc tune that was fresh enough to cut through my thumb, and I loved it, but it didn't last me long. The reason i say not to do it is because as a beginner, the tune will be dulled down and destroyed very fast since most of the time, you are not on edge correctly compared to when you're a novice. This will be dave's (dizykay) first time on hardboots, even though he was tearing it up nicely on loose softies on my supercross. Since we're both poor college students, I a ptc should be done maybe midseason after the basic carving is down. I do understand that having a good tune to ride with will help learn faster, but I think the $75 is better spent later on, especially when there is more snowcoverage and less rocks laying around. I will be having my board sent right to PTC from Bruce when it comes in, because 90* that only makes sense. Also, i'll be bringing in my 2 F2 Speedsters there, but not till January. Whats the deal with the loon mountain season pass for tuning? Someone mentioned that last year, but i can't find info on it.
  22. does he do his own topsheet design? that looks beautiful but I'll be getting a custom topsheet. Hopefully I'll be getting it before the new year!
  23. I know everyone will jump on PTC, but for a begining carver, i don't think a $75 tune is worth it. Outside of PTC, i don't know which shop is better than another out here. After you get your board tuned up (base grind and all), I'll show you how to maintain it, since i got most of the tools we need. edit: also, check out http://www.swixschool.no/
  24. Holy ****! that really blows. I can't imagine the agony of not being able to carve. I was really looking to riding with you. Do what you have to do, so you can do what you want to. We just learned about this in school, but we never touched on why a back injury would effect muscle loss in the legs. Was it because you didn't move much after the surgery? Good luck and hang in there!
