  2. So I left my home with only a wood stove to heat it to the watchful eye of my cat Yonder and my cousin Johnny:confused: on Tuesday to head east. So I arrange to have a friend ship the boots to my brother:smashfrea. On Wednesday we stay the night in Niagara Falls:biggthump. Thursday I end up in Boston to visit my younger brother on his birthday:D. I have noticed since I slowed down that there is a weird noise coming from the rear of our vehicle:(. So Friday I take it into a shop in Boston and they say no problem...465$..no make that 935$..I need both rear wheel bearings replaced:barf:. 3. It was awesome out there this morning...4-6" on top of the groom made for a fun morning. I went into the ski shop asking about liners and one of the shop techs hooked me up...gave me their catalog to look thru then ordered me a pair of intuition liners at cost + shipping. Its been a good year for deals on new equipment. I have to work again tomorrow but will be back on the hill by Friday or Saturday.
  4. I went out for an hour this morning...Boiler plate everywhere. The North Face was the worst. Hopefully we will get enough snow today to make it nice again tomorrow.
  5. Interested in the boots with liners....or just the liners email sent.
  6. Sugar Loaf deal reached Brad Lutz of Omena has signed an option to purchase Sugar Loaf Resort from Kate Wickstrom. Lutz told the Enterprise just before press time on Wednesday that Wickstrom had signed the agreement early this week. Terms of the pending sale were not disclosed, but the news was being hailed in the county. The resort has been closed for skiing since March 2000. Lutz offered no timetable for reopening the resort, but made it clear that he expects the return of skiing at Sugar Loaf to be “a central focus” of his efforts. The condition of ski lifts and other facilities at Sugar Loaf Resort is such that no skiing will be possible there this ski season. “Of course, we want skiing to return,” Lutz said. “Sugar Loaf has some of the best runs anywhere in the Midwest.” But, Lutz added, he is “going into this deal with some fear and trepidation” and is well aware that he may be facing many obstacles. “I’ve heard people in Leelanau County say they’ll believe it when they see it when it comes to Sugar Loaf,” Lutz said. “Actually, that’s just about the right attitude to have in this case. I’m enthusiastic, I’m local, and I believe in Leelanau County – but I have no illusions. This will not be simple or easy.” Wickstrom has owned Sugar Loaf Resort since March 2005 when she purchased it from from a Florida-based corporation known as SL 2002. Corporate documents indicate that SL 2002 was controlled by the wife of Remo Polselli, the head of a company that formerly owned Sugar Loaf, the Pacific XIX Corporation. Polselli was spending time in a federal penitentary on a tax evasion conviction in connection with a downstate Michigan property he owned when ownership transferred from Pacific XIX to SL 2002. After she purchased Sugar Loaf, Wickstrom unveiled plans to turn the resort into a “board sports mecca” including snowboarding and skateboarding – but never followed through. In July 2007, Wickstrom was notified by the Benzie-Leelanau District Health Department that the lodge at Sugar Loaf Resort had been declared “unfit for human habitation” because it had no sewer service. Wickstrom and the previous owners of Sugar Loaf Resort had long been at odds with owners of a private wastewater treatment plant that provides sewer service for the resort and nearby residential neighborhoods, the Sugar Loaf Service Company. Wickstrom and the Sugar Loaf Service Company last year were embroiled in a lawsuit over Wickstrom’s alleged non-payment of a sewer bill which was settled on Dec. 12, 2007. Settlement of the case last month is believed to have helped pave the way for Wickstrom to sign an agreement to sell the resort to Lutz this month. The owners of Sugar Loaf Service Company, Brian Sculthorp of Florida and Ed Fleis of Leelanau County, also own the Sleeping Bear Golf Course adjacent to Sugar Loaf Resort, and last year were forced to relinquish ownership of the nearby King’s Challenge Golf Course to a corporation that formerly owned the resort, both golf courses and the sewage treatment plant. The split-up of those elements in 1997 when Polselli purchased the resort further complicated efforts to make the resort economically viable. “I’ll be willing to work with anyone to make this happen,” Lutz told the Enterprise. In addition to working with private investors, Lutz said he hoped to work with Leelanau County’s Economic Development Corporation and the county’s Brownfield Redevelopment Authority to bring Sugar Loaf Resort back to life. Sugar Loaf Resort is located in Cleveland Township’s “recreation district.” Township trustee and Planning Commission member Cindy Shimek was among those who last year labored on a zoning ordinance amendment at Wickstrom’s request that was designed to streamline approval of Wickstrom’s plans to revive the resort. Wickstrom’s plans were never submitted for approval, however. “I’m thrilled for Mr. Lutz and the possibilities for Sugar Loaf and our township,” Shimek said. “If there is anything we can do as a community to help, I know there are many people who would be pleased to do so.” Shimek said she wishes Lutz “good luck,” but added that she wished the same for Wickstrom. Andrew MacFarlane of Leland offered only one initial comment upon learning that Lutz was buying Sugar Loaf Resort from Wickstrom: “Yee-Hah!” The owner of “leelanau.com” which for years hosted an online discussion forum about Sugar Loaf, MacFarlane said he was hopeful that Lutz would succeed. “The impact of not having Sugar Loaf open here in the wintertime has just been crushing for Leelanau County,” MacFarlane said. “He sure has a lot of hard work ahead, but I know there are a lot of people willing to lend a hand.”
  7. So after reading this post I widened my stance from 17 to 19.5 inches and wow. I thought I had it pretty good before, but It was so much easier to lay it out on the heel side with the wider stance...I even got taken out by one of my own trenches:biggthump
  8. Florida...the devil you say. I moved to Colorado in 95 and found I couldn't afford to live in the mountains so I moved back to northern Michigan. Now I am in a position that I feel my wife and I could get good jobs in a ski town and want to try it again. If the housing market here would just turn around so we could get a little more out of our home we would be on our way. If I'm lucky maybe I will find a job that lays me off every winter (please don't wake me...I'm dreaming) and I could spend all winter on the slopes!.....Florida...too hot in the summer and who would want to got there in the winter when you could goto Aspen!
  9. I was appalled at all the carnage on that course....shame on the course designers:smashfrea....did you notice in the mens final they all hit it hard too.

Ok Art...seems like I agree with you but the you say this.... But really, come on, the kid should have kept his mouth shut and walked away. If it was my kid, I would have finished what the cop started. Make up your mind dude!

  12. Welcome back, I will be out early Saturday and will be off the hill by 11:00....I got alot going on that day....It is presidents day weekend so it will be crowded especially with all this snow we are getting. Hope to be out Sunday too, let me know when you will be there and I will try to see you out there. I am having trouble keeping my feet warm in my new boots and have only been lasting 1-2 hours between warm ups even with heated footbeds. Last Sunday the hill was closed due to extreme temperatures and wind.....-4 and gusts 30-40mph...I went out Monday morning to find perfect conditions and no crowds. Wednesday was a little choppy due to overnight snowmaking. Putting new Intec heels on my td1's tonight and waxing the snowbob for a sledding party tomorrow.
  13. I cracked my sternum a year and a half ago and there was no way I could imagine getting on a snowboard for the next 3 months....It hurt to breath, laugh, sneeze. It still hurt up to 6 months later but I did snowboard a little that season....I also suffered a broken ankle at the same time. I took it real easy last season...and I am glad I gave myself that time to heal. I guess it all depends on how bad you are hurt. Try making some turns on the bunny hill before you buy a lift ticket. If you can handle the pain from a little fall there I would say go for it.
  14. Dam...I've wanted one of these since I read a review in SKI magazive back in the day. So how is the camber?.....Is it a lively board? I would commit to purchase but my pockets have been spitting out money like no tomorrow.
  15. Wow, those are some sweet lookin hardboots! Are they Intec/BTS compatible?
  16. So I was searching for things going on in Stowe during eces and found this http://www.stowe.com/mountain/news/event_calendar.php?d=1204952400 The nighttime log jam should be interesting.....anyone here going to compete?
  17. I had a great day at crystal today....showed up at 9:30 and left at 12:30. Here is a quote from one of the lift opps after I carved a circle around the slow sign at the bottom of loki "dam dude, you can straight up rip on that thing!"....gee thx for the ego boost. I got alot of milage out of that quote at the reception. My new BTS seems to work pretty well, but i will continue to play with it looking for the right setup. I got to ride with another hardbooter for a couple runs till his rear heal bail on his classic emery bindings broke:eek: That as about the end of my day on the hill. I will be back on Sunday morning to dig some more trenches.....please feel free to join me in destroying the hill if you are in the neighborhood. I'm allways looking for someone to ride with. peace out Tim
  18. I'm going out for first tracks in the morning to try out my new BTS! My cousin is getting married at Crystal in the afternoon:biggthump but I'm not invited to the wedding. ...So I had to take the day off and ride!
  19. I do see where they are coming from. My only negative feedback came from a seller with great feedback who forgot to ship half my order(but didn't forget to charge me for it)then he took a week to respond to email. When the rest of my order came it was damaged. It took another week to respond to that email and he never made it right! So when I gave him a negative he gave me 1. He sells so much that negative didn't affect his positive feedback percentage. But it sure affected mine! :boxing_sm:flamethro:argue:
  20. New price 150 shipped continental US
