  1. softbootsailer- would you recommend the burton triad?
  2. I'm looking at the Burton T6 as my freeriding non-alpine setup for this year. They look really nice and responsive. I'm gonna get 2008 model to save some money. I am 6'0, 148 lbs, expert- lots of experience snowboarding, and riding style is very agressive. 17 year old and eventually I might gain some more weight. Hardly ever in the terrain park but I might take it off jumps/cornices sometimes. Im basically trying to decide between the 159 and 162. One consideration is that the waist of the 159 is 246mm and waist for the 162 is 248mm. I don't know if this might be an issue for my size 9.5 boots. If anyone also happens to know where I could find this for a killer :AR15firinprice, that would be a plus! And any suggestions for bindings for this? Obviously its a softboot setup. I'd like to go high end but maybe a previous year to save some money and catch a sale. Thanks!
  3. Hey I know this is too late, but maybe for next year's Copper nationals... I stayed at the Ramada in Frisco, only a 10 min drive up to copper (well, when there wasn't a 50 car pileup at least...) Kind of minimal, but it CERTAINLY got the job done and was more than enough-- free breakfast, hot tub, small rooms I think it was around $85/night which blows away anything else in the area.

  5. Can anyone tell me ABOUT how many spots there will be at nationals for junior men (16-17) in boardercross? I need to know if I'm going to qualify as i plan for nationals. Anyone know how many there were last year or in previous years? Also, if a kid who lives outside my series beat me, does that mean i still qualify? For some reason, even though he lives outside my series, he's listed under mine... so whats that all about? Thanks
  6. Hey I doubt this qould actually happen but ever hear of an exchange kind of thing? Like since I have a 154, could I go to Head and say hey look, I bought the wrong size, can I swap it for a 162 or something?? Think I have any chance at that? Anyone out there have a new Head snowboard that is too long:o:lol:!!??
  7. thanks for the feedback. the courses I race are very small scale because they're just my local USASA series courses. If and when I get to the nationals it may be a bigger scale course but probably still nothing insane. If I had a longer board I would ride it... my next step up is a HB generics 163. Maybe that is an option, I don't know. I don't own a board longer than that though. Possibly, I should try to get a SB board even longer for BX? But I just don't have the money for it. I was lucky enough to WIN this Head snowboard...
  8. Nice! he'll be all over the slopes before you know it. Make sure you don't fall while you're carrying him!! (I know you did greens so I'm sure it's fine). That mountain looks really good compared to Massachusetts right now.
  9. how wide should my stance be? This will be my second time ever on my new Head "true" freestyle board (154). Right now the stance is set pretty wide... about 24.5 inches. That will surely give me some good stability but do you think that is too wide for sharp turning? It is a USASA boardercross event, so I don't THINK that the course will be that intense. I am about 5'11" tall and 145 lbs. Is it to my advantage or disadvantage that I'm pretty light? Should I just wear my normal, kind of baggy, snowboarding pants? I know most people do but would it not help me to go with something tighter? (I dont' know if I actually even have anything else...) Any advice on pumping? I see pro's throw up their arms as they go up and tuck as they go down... anything else I should focus on? At the starting gate, should I start with my board kind of back, and launch myself through the gate (though because I won't know exactly when we start this could hurt me) or should I start with my board as far up as possible and just push off without "winding up" or moving back first (the idea behind moving back first is to generate more momentum, but I don't know if this is what I should do.) I would really appreciate some advice anyone has to offer to answer any or all of these questions, and any other words of wisdom. I'm especially concerned with the start. I'm excited for tomorrow and I want to do well. My board is nicely waxed :D
  10. I am going to try to get up there saturday but no promises. I'm really surprised to see that you're up there 3-4 times a week because I really have never seen a hardbooter there... hmmm haha and the website is so out of date that they're giving the conditions for opening week!! anyways I really hope that it didn't completely wash out, where I live was awful too. We need some colder weather and fast
  11. Berkshire east has been my home mountain for all 7 years I've been snowboarding. While they're not the biggest place, i have grown to like it quite a bit and I think that they're overall a great mountain for the value. (Check out this deal: On saturday nights, 3 people=$39, 4 people= 49, 5 people= $59, etc... that's like 12 bucks for 6 hours of riding!!!) Anyways, it is a great place for practice for sure. Competition, flying cloud, exhibition, big cheif, are the best runs that are commonly open. If you're lucky, you'll get mini dole, Umass, grizzly, and the beast which are fantastic, fun, and relatively challenging trails. I just wish they were open more! Yeah the lifts are slow (I think it's 8-9 minutes to get up to a pretty low summit) but I can deal with that because I have literally NEVER waited in line to ride the lift. NEVER!!! That just makes up for everyting! I mean go to killington or okemo or something... yeah they can get you up three times as high in the same amount of time but you wait for 15 minutes in the lift line! I go to berkshire east and I ride non stop, no nonsense, no BS for a solid block of time. I am very impatient because I always want to get the most runs possible and B-East allows me to do that all the time. I have to say that in the past 7 years i've been on the snow, I have never once seen another hardbooter up there. I myself have actually just started this season (only been on them twice!) but I'm loving it so far. As with any place, you get a few weird looks but that is the least of my concerns when I'm tear-a$$ing down the hill linking perfect, agressive turns on a race board!! Anyways it's a place I really recommend especially during the week, becuase you will literally never wait in line (unless it's a ski race day for the local schools... after 3:30 the main lift could get busy). You will enjoy it though. Tip: use the blue lift to the left of the main lift (if open) if it does happen to be a race day. It goes to practically the same place, it's much faster, and it only serves people who know what they're doing. I'm glad to hear that SOMEBODY is going to berkshire east, and a hardbooter at that! I would love to see you or any other HBer around there:biggthump You can't beat the value and they've got decent snow. Maybe some of you veterans could show me what I'm doing!! :D
  12. correction: 146 lbs. haha just weighed myself. anyone know if head makes decent snowboards though?
