  1. I think I saw you at Crystal a couple times last year or at least a guy on a silberfeil. I'll be on Thor or Loki on Sunday (there is a race on buck from 9-4) or camped out in the Buck lot. I'm the guy that the skiers complain about ruining the hill.
  2. the t-bar was scary and dangerous...it was spring loaded and would launch you when you loaded. If you got on by yourself the t-bar could spin out of position and smack you in the jaw, don't ask how I know. The rope tow it was replaced with on the back hill is much safer. There is another passholder appreciation day in march and there is always the shell 2 for 1 coupons. Have fun and stay stoked.
  3. The Ski Bowl....I got taken out by the t-bar back in 83...what a great little hill. If you make it up to Crystal let me know, I can make it out most days with little warning. This Sunday is passholder appreciation day so passholders can get tickets for their friends for half off. Good luck deflowering your virgin run!

    wow

I always wanted to get that low, wonder if they can teach me how?
  5. It looks like I will have a window of opportunity between 9 and 1 on new years day, after that I need to watch my 1 year old while my wife goes to work. I should be able to get there for first chair. I will be wearing a green North Face jacket and riding a black Donek. Anyone else?
  6. here's the flyer http://www.jaseyjay.com/en/Camps/Camps_Flyer.shtml
  7. The first weekend is finally here! They are open 9-5 both days this weekend (only cheers), and open full time starting next weekend. Anyone make it out to brave the crowd? It looked pretty busy on the webcam. It was my sons first birthday party today so it wasn't in the cards for me, I might make it out sunday if grandma will babysit. Who has got a crystal pass this year?
  8. They are made in Ohio...so that is keeping it local right?
  9. Specs would help but I'm thinking $300 and a LIB Tech Inner Course.
  10. That is a sweet graphic, it's amazing that jack didn't move this to off topic yet.
  11. I'll be in the Buck lot by 9 tomorrow.
  12. So while taking Jorg's Pureboarding clinic at ECES he encouraged us to try some tricks such as the wheelie king and a heelside nose roll spinning in the opposite direction. The wheelie was pretty easy to do and fun to watch, but that nose roll trick he pulled knocked the wind out of me when I tried it. Part of the reasoning behind doing these tricks is to encourage the growth of our sport by making it look more fun to the general public, the other reason is to break up the monotony of carve left carve right carve left carve right. Yesterday at my local hill it was really slushy and not very good for carving so I started working on a nose roll off the heelside spinning the same direction as the turn then popping up half way through and spinning around to land in a toeside carve. I have been doing the nose roll for years but only landed it into a carve a couple times on accident. I landed it a number of times yesterday and got lots of stoke from the lifties as I slid past. Who else has some tricks up their sleeve?
  13. I was denied by an instructor a week ago in the line, she said she would take a skier but not a boarder, then the guy behind me snuck around me to ride up with her. I felt discriminated against.
  14. I just rolled into town from Vermont 5 minutes ago. The gut on the ultraprime works in the ski shop, his name is Darren. I might sneak out this morning if I can muster up the energy.
  15. I had to wait for my babysitter who didn't show up till noon. I saw your truck out there and I was riding from 12:45 till 3:45 but I never saw either of you on the hill. I am headed to ECES this morning maybe I'll see you guys in a couple weeks.
  16. My feet are 27.6 and 27.8 and I wear 27.5 head boots, well actually they are size 27 with custom foot beds. Head boots shells fit the whole and half sizes as do the liners, the difference is in the footbed. When I got them they felt really tight for the first 2 outings then they started to get broken in and feel right. I now have over 100 days on them and they are starting to feel a little looser than I like, it is time for some new liners for me
  17. Conditions today were windy and overcast with a light mist/snow. The snow was really nice and firm to the point where the skiers left little if any tracks but the board left nice trenchs. It should hold up well over the weekend.
  18. I just bought my wife a ticket for Sunday so maybe we can all be there on the same day and at the same time? We like to get our moneys worth when someone has to pay so we will be sticking around till 2 or 3 in the afternoon. I need to get my legs ready for ECES so I'm on my way to ride this morning.
  19. My wife and I went out on Sunday for 5 hours. I saw 1 guy on and asym alp with td1's, John was riding his rossi, Darren from Crystals ski shop bought a pair of hardboots from me. Conditions were nice early and were a little lumpy in the afternoon. Last Friday was an awesome bluebird day with a little fresh groomed in. The first time I got on the lift a local asked me why I was taking it easy...um cause I haven't made a run yet! Then when I reach the top the local group of senoirs ask me why don't I have a day job then ask me nicely to just ride in the middle of buck cause they plan on skiing the edges....I respectfully declined.
  20. Hey Blueb there is an arbor on ebay just waiting for your bid http://cgi.ebay.com/ARBOR-Carving-Snowboard-BOMBER-Trench-Digger-Bindings_W0QQitemZ160402807281QQcmdZViewItemQQptZSnowboarding?hash=item2558c099f1 not mine.
  21. I made it out Saturday Sunday and Monday and only saw 1 alpine setup on the hill the whole time. He was riding a blue flamed coiler, I saw him make 1 run down loki but I never did catch up with him. On my first run Saturday I got launched out of a carve on buck, flew through the bamboo pole holding up the ropes and slid head first right up to tower 4. I did not hit the tower but was stuck head down in the tower well. The intec heels and strap inside my bibs were vital in my escape. I rode from 11 to 4 on Saturday with a couple of hotdog breaks in the lot. Sunday we showed up at 2 to discover our insider reservations were never made but we still got a 3 bedroom on the 3rd floor of Kinlochen for 149. The room was awesome with a deck overlooking buck, and the spa was pretty nice too. We got on the hill at 3 in the rain...my older brother, my niece, and my mom in the neon green one piece. It was raining and blowing hard on top so we gave up after a hour of that, went in and warmed up then I went back out at five cause it had stopped raining. I could see someone's carve on buck and loki, I'm guessing that was you knoch. I found a line down buck that wasn't quite as awful as the rest of the hill and stuck with it for almost an hour. I switched to my slalom board and found a soft spot below a snow gun tower that swallowed my board. That one hurt a little unlike the Saturday tower incident. Monday morning I made it out at the crack of 10:30, let me just say the conditions sucked for carving. Got off the hill by 11:45 and checked out of room. With this weeks forecast for snow every day I am sure the hill will recover quickly.
  22. Sorry to disappoint you, I promise not to leave early this Sunday. I am staying at Kinlochen Lodge Sunday night. I received a 175 Donek in the mail Tuesday and took it out for a test drive today....My factory prime will no longer be the goto board! I'll be out all day Sunday and Monday till mid afternoon. Hopefully the forecast improves for this weekend!
  23. Spring spacing will vary depending on the amount of preload on the springs.
  24. I went to 3 bike shops in Traverse City trying to get replacement cables made for my intec heels with no luck. Ordering new is the only viable option I found. Hopefully intec/fintec cables are interchangeable with your old burton heels.
  25. Good question...I forgot. I had a major concussion 9 years ago, I fell 9' to concrete head first. I am sure I have had at least a couple more but my short term memory never fully recovered from the big 1, or at least that is what I keep telling people.
