  1. Hmm, I'm more of a duck-feet type with softboots for latter part of the career. I'd say roughly 2002/2003 was when I went duckfeet. Previously, it was relatively mostly slightly angled on front and less angled on rear. Now, during my entire hardbooting/racing career, I was quite high angle. However, I've retired from hardbooting since 2006 and switched to skiing (with UPZ boots) since then. So I don't know how it is now-a-days for me, though.
  2. I hope it's not health related for I've been interacting with Dan Yoja for maybe 2 decades when it comes to those boots. He's gone extra miles here and there. Thanks for chiming in, @martock_carver, for it does help clarify a couple of things.
  3. I didn't want to revive an old thread in 2004 however I'd like to ask what happened to this article? http://bomberonline.com//articles/physics.cfm I'm a fan of Howe's book of mechanism of skiing. Hence my re-visitation to sidecut formulae for my upcoming customized skis. Trying to figure out how to transform from 159 to 183 length of snowboard to skis.
  4. Oh, those scenes in Critical Condition still give me the hibbie jibbies (Steve G and Nick P)!!
  5. I had to ask since I was a S'thorne local and stop by to visit Fin and Michelle on regular basis. Is the Bomber still at the same store as it was? I presume Gumbo's the owner, yes? I'd like to re-visit my old stomp ground with bomber as one of my destinations.
  6. I take it this gears box has not been sold at all?
  7. Wow, I remember that! I was caught off guard when TWSnowboarding magazine somehow managed to find my post via newsgroup/tin relevant and published it in "dear reader" in mid 90s. I can't remember which group it was but I think it was rec.skiing.snowboarding or something like that? It's nice to see somebody at TWS magazine to be familiar with tin/newsgroup, too!
  8. Wow, those are the nicks I have not seen in a long time! Good to see y'all! And the yesteryear BOL face - I'm only familiar with 2nd or 3rd iteration (pre-VBulletin days) with the forum. Man, there were quite a load of good stuffs in there at the time. And mad honors to get to know Fin since he and I did indeed lived in the same town. Im so grateful to him for letting me try his original Madd 158 which really set the bar much higher for me, personally. My 2nd gen Madd 158 doesn't even quite just cut it like that one. And the Madd 170. Yowza!! It is my wish to reconnect with Kress and go riding for I reckon him and some other cool gal was there on my last time of riding alpine which I got wiped out and knocked out at Keystone. -wince-
  9. How many of youse still alpine riding these days? Me, not since 2006 switch to lib tech skiing with upz boots. Yet, very seldomly, I pine to return to alpine for a mad fun run on my madd 158 this winter. Naturally, hare scramble riding/training takes precedence over alpine riding these days. Is it me getting older and getting sick of being cold after 25 years of living on the mountains or I'm not the only one? Cheers, mate! L-
  10. Actually, I just did google up to see what became of them as of right now after a very very very long time since the fiasco. Hmm, I choose to plead the 5th on my opinion.
  11. I can relate since I'm somewhat retired. I have not done hardboot snowboarding since 2006 but skiing with UPZ boots since then. Last time I went skiing was two or three years ago. I wish you the best of luck with that original Madd 158. I so want it that bad but I got other priorities like my house, motorcycle, repair my diesel bmw, etc. Also, do you realize the angle of your photo did make me do a double check to see if it's symmetrical or asymmetrical.
  12. Out of curiosity, why are you selling it?

I'm surprised no one picked up this board. I would have but I have retired from alpine snowboarding as well as skiing after 1/4 century. Sorry for the threadomancy, btw.
  14. Ah, mine is more or less a permanent ski DIN on my ancient UPZ boots. I very rarely switch back to intec/hardbooting DIN these days. I thinkt he last time I did that was 2006. Considering, purchasing a pair of UPZ boots and have one dedicated to skiing and another one for hardbooting... but then again... its more likely because I'm very comfortable with those boots than the ski boots I have used over the years. I dont know if you can find an old thread of UPZ installation, etc. on this forum, but it should be there.
  15. Man, was that a d--k move you just pulled? LIttle do you know, I broke my fibula from alpine snowboard racing/training so it's not exactly the same as it was. Hence my retirement. So, with that said, don't be a prick when there's two sides to the story. EDIT: Alright, I get your gist for pulling that d--ck move so I'll not post my comment anymore to any of your post. Good day to you.
  16. Well, I still have my Madd 158... from 2004. I have yet to meet another alpine board of equivalent caliber. However, the market niche for alpine snowboarding is quite narrow, regardless. Hell, Pete Saari told me himself when I bugged him if we could bring the Innercourse alpine back at Mervin MFG. It's just not financial sustainable in his perspective. So it's rather pointless to debate on whether if it holds the sport back or not. If I -do- find a board that can sustain my riding, then yes I would purchase a new board. It is unfortunate that I don't do much alpine snowboarding these days (I last touched my alpine, which is Madd, back in 2006) for I have gone on to skiing and ski carving on my lib tech skis.
  17. Jean Nerva for sure. Peter Bauer - one of the face looks like him.
  18. AW, MAN! Had I known this months ahead, I would have attend to this event and play!! -_____-
  19. I was trying to find out when I bought 2nd re-issue of Madd 158 batch via my old posts... Saw a long forgotten post on tandem snowboarding... thought i'd post the URL to it. Enjoy.
  20. I might be interested in the Madd 170. I forgot the stiffness for green wall?
  21. I'm sorry to come out as a prick but am I feeling this whole deal with USASA and safesport being real f--king stupid? I get it we're trying to help the victims, and the likes. Ok, ok, ok... however, are we gonna kill the thrill of sports itself in the name of "-extremely excessive- potential preventative measures"? I'm real glad I've retired from racing many moons ago and I prefer to go freestyling or whatnot, for -THAT- is the true art form of sports, not some competition where you have the odds of getting your behind creamed just because somebody doesn't like you and chose to retaliate via safesports? F--k this... that's what I'm saying at the moment.
  22. Now, that's that. May I propose we close this topic? It's a bit of a wincing and a pain to read all those stuffs on both sides of the coin. I think it would be wise if we could move on?
