  1. Some manufacturers use them as a chassis for fire/rescue apparatus http://www.fentonfire.com/wildland_and_brush_trucks/listing.php?lid=601
  2. I don't ride one but they have a very good reputation in the triathlon world. I test rode the Cervelo Dual but didn't end up buying it because it didn't fit me well. Had it fit better, I would have bought it. The spec was good for the price and the fit and finish was nice.
  3. another Clydesdale here, 6'3" 250lbs. All of my boards are shorter than me. Guess that balances out the short guys on big boards.
  4. Finis Lap Counter This might work for your lap counting problems. I'm not sure how many laps it will record though. I've never used one as I rarely do more than 1500m a session but Finis makes pretty good products. They make a cool waterproof mp3 player too called the SwiMP3. I'm not sure about the pedometers. I searched in google for "top pedometer" and "best pedometer" and came up with several articles on how to choose the best pedometer for your needs. Good luck on meeting your weight loss goals. I'm working on it myself and its a huge challenge but its well worth the effort.
  5. Damn man, that does not look like fun. I guess I can safely assume that you aren't going to be coming up to Timberline on the 23rd now. Take care and heal up fast.
  6. I have similar pain in my back ankle. I used to ride with my front boot locked and the back foot completely unlocked (only choices I had on the 413). I got the BTS and ride blues on the front and a long yellow/short blue spring on the rear. I really like the way they control the flex of both boots but maybe I need to try a long blue or try to limit my forward flex some. I will say that my ankle is not in great shape to begin with. I pulled a chunk of bone out of the maleolous last spring and had partial tears and pulls in a lot of the connective tissue. Its been very slow to heal and riding probably hasn't helped. As a side note... I avoid basketball now.
  7. That makes it look a lot more in proportion. The first one looked like the headtube was a foot and a half long and you were riding 650c wheels. Nice ride, btw. Just in time for spring too.
  8. Got another one yesterday... I could just tell the dumb question was coming when the guy approached me. Him: Hey, What is that thing? Me: Its an alpine board. Him: Is that harder to ride than a snowboard? Me: Well, it is a snowboard. Him: Oh. and off he skates to the lift
  9. -20F air temp, -70F windchill. It was a tad chilly but thats part of the fun of being a patroller. People were still paying to ski in that crap. That was at the top of the hill but it wasn't much warmer at the bottom.
  10. Judging by the boards in your profile, something like the F2 Speedster SL 163 or 166 might work out well for you. Bomber has them on sale right now too.
  11. That should buff right out. Glad you are ok, sounds like a nasty fall.

    Moving Sale!

Bumping this up. Just got home from meeting Gary to pick up the Renntiger. Board was as described and the transaction was very smooth. Can't wait to get it on the snow. Thanks Recon.
  13. I'm riding 55/50 on a Donek Axis 177 with size 29 boots. TD2 stepins. The waist is 21.5. I could probably go more shallow but I'm comfortable at those angles.

    Donek

I haven't gotten a reply yet. sent her an email at about 10 last night.
  15. You are right there. Unfortunately we don't have any new boarders joining us this season, all skiers... When I started patrolling I was one of the first couple snowboard patrollers at our hill. It was very difficult for the instructors who were all skiers to give much advice, sort of had to pick it up on my own. There's all kinds of hard, unpleasant things to fall on in our packs and vests. Radios, Trauma shears, Sharpie markers/pens, multitools, pocket masks, oral airways, hex keys, carabiners, sled pins, etc, etc, etc.
  16. Yep, I'm one myself. Almost always on plates. Also a S&T instructor and my patrol's S&T instructor trainer. We have 2 other patrollers who ride plates occasionally too.
  17. Good stuff! I think its great to see other patrollers on alpine boards. To me it adds an extra layer of exposure for the sport and legitimacy to the public. i hear you on the vest adding edge pressure/jelly belly look. All that gear can certainly be bulky.
  18. Thanks, any idea what year the Volkl is?
  19. intersted in the Volkl, can you email me pics?
  20. Big thanks to Phil and the gang for putting on another great event. Phil even saved the day for my wife by having some extra binding parts laying around. Ordered her some new TD2's to replace the Burtons when we got home. I've got some pics that I'll be posting up soon. Here's one of Neil Sunday doing the limbo.
  21. Leaving soon to head home and pack. See you all tomorrow morning!
  22. Had to laugh a little this weekend, I was working an incident where a first time snowboarder landed a jump poorly and broke his wrist/forearm. I rolled up on scene and steped out of my bindings. Started working on the kid and 2 of his buddies (one skier/one snowboarder) were watching and talking quietly. There discussion was not about their friends obviously broken, nasty looking wrist, it was about my boots. They just could not figure out why I was wearing "ski boots" but there was a snowboard laying there. I paused briefly to get their attention so I could explain what the deal was while I finished packaging the patient. They were pretty cool kids but man were they ever confused. Had someone ask me if my BTS units were "rocket boosters" in the lift maze. Huh, wtf?
  23. I'm going to pass. Thanks
  24. Interested, How much do you want for it?
