  1. One of the joys of riding with friends who also carve is more eyes keeping folks safe. I still swivel head, but it's great having a no pass group.
  2. I think you need the longer version, but I have a bag of these for my Race. https://www.mcmaster.com/92467A442/
  3. I posted this earlier in regard to MS springs: "Oh, and 16mmx 38mm is 5/8" x 1.5" if anyone is looking. Doing some quick math, it looks like blue metric is a touch softer than blue imperial, and red imperial is a touch softer than red metric. RM(221 lbs/in)->RI(190lbs/in)->BI(108lbs/in)->BM(104lbs/in) Greens are not comparable- Green Metric is extra light, and Green Imp. is extra heavy."

    Yo Lci!!

13(?!) of us out today. Great weather, great snow, more killer riding. Looking forward to next weekend!
  6. I was at the valley end with L & K getting flogged in softboots. Switched to hard gear for the second half of the session to redeem myself. It was a great day!
  7. Some of us stayed lower on the hill and enjoyed balmy single digit temps! Killer snow.
  8. Lets remember thst mens SL decks are in the 160-165 range typically. While they might be small for folks used to 170+, they are not really "short", certainly by normal race standards or the general market. When I think of tiny boards, I think of stuff below that sort of range relative to the rider. A 155 for my wife is pretty normal and small for me. Now when I jump on a 141, thats tiny. And super fun, but very limited.
  9. Rode this today (thanks, Lance!). I'm not really qualified to review it, but I'll give my impressions. Today was the first day I've put on softboots in 20 years, so needless to say there was a bit of a learning curve there. But the AZX felt great. It was 0* after a cold night and a few day old snow- so firm but great carving conditions. The board had no problem rolling between edges, and seemed happy to lock in when you got there. At the same time, it could easily be broken into slides or skids, and seemed totally content to ride base flat at whatever speed I could point it. I imagine for someone who has more experience on softboots it would be stellar, and if you wanted a bit more surface volume on softboots for a race deck alternative, I think it would be a fun option.
  10. Just set the edges and did some base prep on my new Coiler. Based on my long sidecut 180 (which is very, very fun) I thought I'd get something for the Sunday Loveland get togethers. I asked Bruce for an equivlent 15m side cut on a 170ish (171cm) Stubby with a 21.5cm waist. I also asked him to flip the graphic to the tail so that when I sit on my butt you can read it (goofy). Widened the inserts just a touch. I hope to get out Tue on it, but so far it looks the business.
  11. Looking forward to Tue. Setting bevels on the new Coiler after Lovey tomorrow.
  12. Ive ridden boards sub 150 as an adult. They are lots of fun, but sub-optimal. Unless Im goofing around with a beginner, I dont go under anything of typical SL length, and even then only as far as an old 155 prior. I spent a few days on a 148 sushi last year. It works, but naw.
  13. I'd also be supprised is Backalnds were an easy fit with wide feet. I have very narrow feet and was supprised at how they seemed pretty decent on me. That class of lighter touring boot is good for all mountain riding, but not beefy enough for my tasted on a race style snowboard. Most of the 4 buckle AT boots with DIN style ledges (so not Tech/ Dynafit only) will work with most bail bindings. I'd tend to go for something in the 120 or less flex number range as they are typically already pretty laterally stiff compaired to alpine SB boots. On the plus side, there are quite a few different fits from the major players.
  14. A hard shell upper makes it into an SBH like the 325. I tend to agree that might be a step in the right direction.
  15. For folks following along at home, that 14mm is for the Apex X. The V0-3 are in the 24mm ball park depending on the layup. Bomber, Virus, JJA, SG are all withing a couple of MM (22mm-24mm).
  16. What's the Allflex height off deck? (That is, the top surface/ binding mount off topsheet).
  17. I think mine are pushing 60 days or so, and no isses at all. I did tighten one of the buckle screws a month back maybe.
  18. I'm painting tomorrow, but I think H&K are up.
  19. I have a JJA listed in the classifides. I'd prefer to sell it with the plate, but if you are interested in just the board, let me know.
  20. Vist is different than Allflex is different than UPM. Some boards have a combo. Allflex is the current king of the racing scene, so it's what many of the top level boards are coming with. Apex is out of buisness and Bomber is no longer producing plates. There are still a few smaller Asian and European makers of UPM style plates, but with Apex gone and Allflex/ Iron rock racing darlings, the money isn't really there for stock board makers. That said, smaller companies are still prodcuing UPM boards (some only on request). *Not sure why this is in the "For Sale" section?
  21. Still available for the bargain price of free.
