  1. Last season was my first hardbooting season, and it was painful. I lost a toenail and sort of injured, or bruised my shin. The toenail wasn't a big deal, not painful at all, I was actually happier without it. However, my shin effing hurt. I've heard the term "shin bang" used on bomber every now and then, and that's the only term I can think of to use for this situation. What would happen is, the cuffs (topmost part of the boot) would dig into my shins. Exerting enormous amounts of pressure on the muscle there and (I think) bruising it badly, but there was no bruise. It hurt ALOT when this would happen, which was almost everytime I rode. When the season was over, it took nearly a month and a half to recover and walk normally. This only happend to one leg, my left leg, and I ride regular. Could this be because I have large calf muscles? my calfs are about 17 and a half inches in diameter. I realize that alot of other snowboarders also have large legs, so, I'm at a loss. Why did my boots kill me last season?
  2. kids these days, crying for a doctor. WALK IT OFF!

    Guns

I shot a gun for the first time this summer. I think it was a 38 special? A little bit scary, a little bit exciting, lots of fun. I'm not a very good shot, seems to me like a difficult sport. Here is a picture of a gun that I DO own. It's a pez gun.
  4. Alright, I find this thread incredibly insightful and packed full of knowledge. I didn't realize that everyone on Bomber was a genius. I mean really, I need to get alot smarter. Anyways, was I the only one who saw that picture of those guys DRAGGING THEIR FUGGING KNEES ON A HAIRPIN TURN, ON A BIKE!???!! What's the deal with that?!?! What was that?! I LOVED IT! !!!!!...!!!!! I'm speechless!
  5. I've got pretty long, shaggy hair and I wear a snowboard helmet when skating. It gets hot, but I could care less. Snowboard helmets are designed to be slammed into trees at high speeds right? So, they are probably good for pavement.
  6. I feel yah man, those dang automobiles just don't have any feelings. Does anyone else ever grab onto cars to skitch a ride for a while, talk about ultimate drafting. Pickup trucks are especially easy to grab onto and usually they don't mind. Mike- Lets see some pictures of your pizza!
  7. yeah these guys have been going at it all day now.
  8. Well, I don't think either you or I would claim to be harcore or extreme, but we can do it right? But yeah, I agree, old people should stick to the dirtsurfer. Especially if they're scared! ;)
  9. Yeah, I've only been skateboarding for about 6 months. It only took me a couple weeks to learn how to stop effectively. I can go from 20-30 mph and stop within 20-30 feet, somtimes shorter if I really have too. It's not dragging your hand on the ground that makes you stop, it's breaking your wheels into a slide and changing traction to friction. You only put your hand on the ground to unweight the board. And look at how cool Cliff Coleman makes it look!
  10. Hey guys, I came across this picture of Cliff Coleman on silverfishlongboarding.com. He's doing a coleman slide, and it looks like he's going pretty fast. I thought this picture really captured the speed and angle of his body. It reminded me alot of the pictures I've seen of carvers here on bomber. Betcha can't do that on a dirtsurfer You can see behind him there is a trail of stuff (don't know what) being kicked up behind him, reminded me of snow. Anyways, thought I'd share!
  11. There is also breed of cats called Tigons. The offspring of a male tiger and a female lion makes a Tigon. http://www.lairweb.org.nz/tiger/tigons.html
  12. Scott, it sounds like you've fallen for the dirtsurfer! I have been checking out their Road Racers, basically the same thing as the dirt surfer but with racing tires. Those things look bad as heck! I wish I could afford one. As soon as they get cheaper I'll be saving up for one. How easy is it to maintain the dirt surfer? The hubs are sealed am I right? I don't know if you're big on bicycle tech stuff, but how well are the wheels built? Do they come out of true very easily? From what I've seen on the web pages, they seem like they are made pretty well!
  13. I was looking over my last post and realized I forgot to mention that I fell hard while making that frontside turn. That's why the skate tool hurt me. TommyD- I have been talking to the Mile High Rollers guys. They are very cool, unfortunately I have been out of town for both of their garage sessions. Garages are definitely the best, always downhill. The best part is, you can usually take an elevator to the top of the hill. ;)
  14. TommyD- It's good to hear you're enjoying the Pintail. How are the Avilons holding up? Have you gotten into coleman style slides yet? I got a pair of sliding gloves the other day and I love the deep carving that is possible, especially on steep hills. I've already worn out the butt on a pair of jeans. However, the other day I was riding my skateboard a little bit too much like a snowboard. I was my upper body was too upright, and I was leaning wayyyy too much. This was on a frontside turn, about 15 miles per hour. Lost traction to the point of no return. wipeout... This would have been no big deal but I had a large skate tool in my pocket and it hurt my leg very badly. Oh well... have a safe summer!
  15. I'm so sorry for you and Holly. You are both in my prayers for the upcoming surgery and recovery. -Jason in Denver
  16. Skully- A bike is not a toy. Feel no shame, sell everything, get a bike.
  17. I've been riding a track bike for several years and alot of my friends are messengers in denver. They all use track bikes. I think they like track bikes because they are bomb proof. Also, it is much easier to do a track stand while on a fixed gear, which is nice when you have to wait at a stop light... I love fixed gears!
  18. Looks like a lot of fun, I'd ride it. Kind of expensive, but maybe it's worth it?
  19. SWriverstone, this article helped me when I first started skating. http://www.silverfishlongboarding.com/article.php?story=20030106141444786
