I was in the singles line at the local hill the other day when I heard, "Alpine guy, hey alpine guy!" I thought, "well, at least he got it right", and turned around to see a ski instructor with four very young students in tow. "Like herding cats, eh?", I said to him. With a harried look on his face he asked me if I would mind taking a couple of the kids up the lift with me. I said sure, and then he says, "Please don't tell them that what you're doing is way cooler, I don't want to lose my clientele".

They mean the nose of the board is stiffer than normal. Board works well with hard boots and plates, but don't expect alpine board performance. I broke an ankle on one of those when I augured the nose into the snow by overloading it on a toe side turn. Have fun with it. Supposedly was Mark Fawcett's AM play toy in the day.

I got my bell rung the other day at the top of the hill. I was starting a slow heelside, and just starting to pick up some speed when a tiny kid on skis came into my line. Afraid I would squash the kid, I tried to tighten the turn and got my weight back on the board. Missed the kid but was locked in the turn and hit a wood fence with my head. Lucky the helmet and goggles took most of the impact along with my shoulder. I have a nice black eye and a purple shoulder as souvenirs, but the skull is intact. A really good thing I wasn't going any faster or I would have been missing some teeth as well. Always a helmet, always....

And while you're at it: back out the torx bolts on the tongue, cant adjusters, and the ratchet teeth and lock tite those. I neglected to do this and found myself minus a cant adjuster the other day. Makes the boots unrideable. Other than that I love the RC-10's. They hold my ankle and heel in place and leave room for my wide fore foot. Nice moderate stiffness too.

A little grom in the lift line today says, "Hey Dad, look at that guy, he's riding a RECTANGLE!" And THAT is how you describe a Coiler AMT 168.:D

You don't have the right bumper for the disk under your plate by the look of it. There are little marks on the bumper that tell you if it is for a 3 degree, 6 degree or flat disk. Maybe you have the bumpers reversed front to back? If you have the correct bumper there would only be about 1/16" of space depending on the angles of your plates

You must have TD1's right? Depending on the angle of the plate on your disk you can get some gap between the bumper and your board. I used to use a large diameter stainless washer or two to take up the space. Let us know how you do next time out!
