  1. Have you tried footbraking? For some reason, when I started skatboarding, that felt most natural to me. When you start to reach speeds that feel uncomfortable, or you need to stop, carefully pick up your back foot and touch it to the ground, gently at first. After you feel stable enough begin applying pressure. Basically you are dragging your foot on the ground. Be aware that if you are going too fast this could be dangerous because it compromizes your balance. And there's always the tuck'n roll
  2. Feel better Bobby, I hope you heal up soon. I am suffering from a degenerative disk disorder myself and will need surgery at some point.
  3. I LOVE this board, purchased it two weeks ago, very turny and pumps like mad. I'm going on a bike trip this summer, I leave April 15th and will be gone all summer. I need a new bike wheel and figured I won't be skating at all this summer.. So.. if anyone wants a cool Loaded pintail, drop me a line. $150 + shipping. I'll email pictures if you like. my email is Jasongfox@gmail.com loadedboards.com - for more information on the pintail
  4. JoeCarve, awesom deck, thanks for starting this thread, it never would have occured to me. Im pretty sure i'm going to have to pass on this opportunity, thanks for the first shot though. take care
  5. How much would you be willing to sell it for?
  6. I remember several weeks ago you order an Insect Dragon fly. Have you received it yet? If so, do you love it?
  7. I've never broken an arm or received a concussion while having sex....
  8. I love kids and everything, but I'm only 20 years old. I'll take snowboarding.
  9. If you can make it down to All boards sports in Boulder, it's well worth the drive. www.allboardssports.com
  10. My first and only pair of boots are Head stratus pro's. My size is also 28.5 mondo. I have been riding with them for about two months. The buckles are awesom for micro adjustment and the boots come with power straps on the liner and the shell of the boot which I find very helpful. Next season I will get custom foot beds and maybe even better liners. The liner that came with the boots are heat moldable, before I got them molded they were injuring my legs due to pressure spots, after I got them molded they were still pretty uncomfortable. And the cheap foot beds cost me a toe nail. But I love the boots.
  11. Lonerider, I love my pocket pistol (it has seismics), but those insects look awesom. I'm pretty sure that most slalom boards are excellent for flatland pumping. I think the GS city bomber with seismics would be really good for pumping. You probably can't go wrong with either Pocket pistols or the Insects. The only thing you might want to take into consideration is the width of the truck hanger. 105 mm can seem a bit tippy (from what i've experienced)....... I'm so new to this... Try out as many boards as you can, thats what i've been doing. I'll have a loaded pintail in about 10 days, i'll let you know what I think of it.
  12. SWriverstone, I've been involved in the same sort of wild goose hunt the past couple months. I have a pocket pistols slalom right now and love it, but want a carve board. I've tried tierny, Carve board, flow board, BMW street carver and a few pintal longboards. My favorite out of all of them was the Loaded vanguard, OH MAN I love that thing. I also LOVED the loaded pintail... as a matter of fact, I'm getting both(eventually)!! The vanguard for giant hills and the pintail for transport. .... oh man..
  13. I'm confused, I've been riding at copper all season and now I hear that there is free cat-riding there? Where is this located and ..?? Why havn't I heard of it?
  14. well that explains it.. but it still blows my mind
  15. John Gilmour, was that video of you? This is my first month on a slalom skateboard and that seems incredibly fast! wow
  16. bike rides, parking garages and steep hills ;) oh... and beer
  17. Is "ski house from Pat" some sort of terrorist code? This is very suspicious
  18. From what I've experienced, the pocket pistol, trucks and wheels are very stable at high speeds. The seismic trucks have two sets of springs that act like the rubber bushings on normal trucks and you can adjust the tension on the springs so that they handle much more responsively at high speeds. I have been going down a fairly steep hill and purposely starting a woobble so that I can get more comfortable at high speeds, so far, I have been able to control even the worst wobbles. Yes, it is a slalom board that's for sure. Big turns are fun and stable, but not at very high speeds, bottoming out can be an issue. I don't know much about slalom boards but I know that there are boards that are more directed towards Giant Slalom and the wheels have much more clearance from the board. There are also carving boards that are meant for just that, carving, there is no possibility of bottoming out one of those boards.
  19. It's a slalom skateboard from Pocket Pistols. It's one of of their E series. The trucks I'm using are seismic 105's, seismic is an innovative type of company out of Boulder Colorado, great product. If you're interested check out slalomskateboarder.com
  20. Scott- It's inspiring to read about mental breakthroughs of this sort. It's crazy that once your brain gets those pathways laid down and you know how to get to them, it gets alot easier. This is my first season of riding alpine and I have experienced lots of frustration and only a few breakthroughs. My most recent breakthrough was buying a slalom skateboard, I've had it for about three weeks now and it's made an incredible differnce in my snowboarding. I guess because when you're skateboarding the board isn't attached to your feet so to carve that board around under your feet, you really need to have the correct body movements and I think that's what transfered over to my snowboarding. I reccomend this type of skateboarding for anyone who wants to train for snowboarding. I've still got a looonngg ways to go
  21. Sorry to hear about your accident, I've found myself in that same frustrating situation more than once. Baka Dasai- IceBike.org is AWESOM! A couple years ago I was constantly injuring myself while I was commuting in the snow on my bike. Well, I found Ice bike.org and made some studded tires and now I love riding in the winter.
  22. I have a winter park / copper pass. We don't usually go to Winter Park because of all the cat walks. But I'm sure i'll be going to winter park sometime before the season is over..
  23. I experience this same sort of thing. Boots, bindings, board, stance, angle, I'm sure all these things contribute however I have a feeling technique is the thing I need to work on that will take me through rough stuff on plates. I saw a video on ExtremeCarving.com of Patrice Fivat riding an alpine board through moguls and doing it extremely well... alot better than I could ever do with softboots. Anyway, he mentioned somthing about it all being technique..
