  1. Maybe upload it to YouTube. You can specify "unlisted" and just share the URL.
  2. For some reason I'm just getting a still shot instead of a video. I would love to see it.
  3. Thanks! I had watched Lexi's video before and just rewatched it. Very helpful.
  4. Here's the F2 and the Madd. I also have a 1997 154cm Hot Shine.
  5. Just got back to CT and will be driving to VT shortly. Okemo is supposed to be open for a few more days so hopefully I’ll be able to try some of the recommendations. A few asked me what the radius is on the board in the video. I really don’t know. It’s a 158 F2 slalom board with a Donek plate. Boots are Head Stratos Pros on F2 bindings at fairly low angles. I also own a 170 Kessler GS board and a 168 MADD. I really appreciate the suggestions. Sunsurfer - good job of identifying the trail. I got a real thrill chasing Bode Miller and Marco Sullivan on successive runs (on skis) and videoed them with my GoPro Max. You might have to view it on YouTube if the embedded video doesn’t play
  6. My focus mostly is racing but I'd sure love to learn to Eurocarve. Probably out of the question at my age....
  7. Much obliged!! There may still be a little snow at the home mountain. Hopefully I'll get a chance to try your suggestions.
  8. We're just wrapping up the NASTAR Nationals in Snowmass. Turnout among boarders was better this year despite conflicting dates with USASA. I picked up my 15th age group win but acknowledge I've outlved most of my competition. When the racing was over, I took a fun run with my son-in-law and three grandsons (the youngsters all raced on both skis and board like me). I gave the 14 year old my GoPro Max and asked him to get some footage of me. This was a very gentle slope. I still need to get lower and can't seem to make any progress. I'm always open to suggestions.
  9. When people tell Neil deGrasse Tyson that they don't believe in Global Warming he tells them they might as well not believe in gravity.... A half century ago I was the morning meteorologist at the NBC affiliate in Tampa and taught introductory Climatology and Meteorology at the University of South Florida. The changes that have occurred just in that period of time are truly disturbing. University of British Columbian Climate Scientist Simon Donner posted this three years ago. Sobering.

More fun with the camera. I dug out my retro one piece and hooked the camera to a selfie stick that's shorter than the length of a ski pole. You can see its shadow. I managed to video my own fall when I hit an icy patch.
  11. The photographer didn't capture any of my snowboard runs that day. I thought he posted one of my GS ski runs twice before I noticed that the flags were of different colors. There's something to be said for consistency!
  12. Only one other boarder besides myself out of 75+ racers. Fun Day. I raced GS and Super G on skis and my Kessler. Lost the Super G on skis by a fraction. The top 4 places were separated by less than a second.
  13. Definitely interested. I'll send you a PM
  14. I have a 158 cm F2 slalom board with the standard binding mounting holes (no line of additional mounting holes down the sides). Is there a lifter that would be compatible with my board? I tend to prefer lower angles and that presents a problem with my electric edger. There's not enough clearance for the edger to clear the bindings. I can either remove the bindings each time I sharpen the edges or go with higher angles. Neither is an attractive option. I'd hate to spend a lot if I can avoid it. Any thoughts?
  15. My 158 cm F2 slalom board doesn't have that row of screw holes along the sides but my 170 cm Kessler GS board does. Would this plate system be a good match?
  16. Amazing athlete. She's an inspriation to my three oldest grandsons who race on skis and boards.

This one is a true 360 degree view. Advance to the 55 second mark to see PMORITA carving Okemo's Chief trail. Click and drag on the video to see in all directions. You can even look down to see my board. In subsequent videos I've elevated the camera so the helmet isn't visible. It's really cool to watch this with my Oculus Quest 2 Virtual Reality goggles. I sit on a piano stool and spin around to see the view in all directions.

Playing around some more with the new toy. It was a gray day and I got out there too late to take advantage of the powder. It certainly wasn't a good day for carving but fun nonetheless. The fisheye effect makes the "invisible selfie stick" appear quite long but is shorter than a ski pole.
  19. This one isn't what I heard, it's what I sometimes say. If I get in line behind a fifty-something boarder I'll say, "aren't you a little old to be snowboarding?" They spin around and see my weathered countenance, the sticker on my board (the same one on my helmet) and grin.
  20. Experimenting with the invisible selfie stick. Not entirely successful.
  21. I can't remember 58! Turning 76 this year....
  22. Gunstock has a good NASTAR operation. If you can make it to Okemo on weekends I usually set two courses at the NASTAR venue - one with traditional ski gates and one with stubbies for boarders. I paceset both courses on skis and then switch to my Kessler to get in some gate time. It's an easy course but a good one to work on the prinicples of picking a good line. Open 10 - 2 Saturdays and Sundays and you can make unlimited runs for $16.
  23. Dan at UPZ is very responsive. He sent me this: Hi Patrick I think you'll have a slight problem. The boots you have are 20 years old in the old UPS brand as far as I can tell. Therefore many of the things that you can adjust on the new UPZ boots are not doable on the old UPS models. To change springs you must remove the spring mechanism from the cuff, but you can only do that if you have removable cuffs, which I don't think you have. Yours are riveted on. Also 20 years ago there was only 1 type of tongue, no options available to change. Even if we could determine what the flex was of that old tongue, there aren't any old tongues available in softer flex so can't do that either, The Problem is that the boots have changed a lot over the years, and new parts are not standard after about 5-10 years. Hope all that makes sense. Dan
  24. I sent a note to UPZ and they were kind enought to respond: The springs in the back will only make very slight adjustments to the flex, so it's pretty much set at softest and you can tighten the springs a bit to stiffen. Upper spring is backward flex, lower spring is forward flex. The real way to make the boot softer is to replace the tongue to a softer set. The model in the photo looks like the RSV boot from 15+ years ago, so not sure what is available for parts at this point. Can check on our website and go from there
