I bought the GoPro MAX 360 camera last winter and got a fair amount of hardboot riding footage but I had a really cool experience when I was one of 20 lottery winners at Snowmass in early April. We got to to up an hour before the lifts opened and make a run with Bode MIller who was demonstrating his new line of Peak Skis. I mounted the camera to my helmet and chased him. Click and drag to change the view. You can even look down to see my skis. You'll see Bode in front of me and everyone else behind me. The best way to watch it is with VR Goggles. Regarding editing, I started wth GoPro's program, then used Handbrake, Spatial Media Metadata Injector and finally Cybervision PowerDirector 17.
  3. Hi Jack - Thanks! I'm buying some from the publisher. I can sign one and get it to you. It may be a few weeks before I get my supply. They're available on Amazon now. Maybe we'll cross paths this winter.
  4. Something I've been encouraged to do for years. Finally got around to it. "When you're over the hill, you pick up speed". https://amzn.to/3hB4I92

I've mounted a chest harness on my back and done that. Go to the 65 second mark of this video:
  6. Climate change is hitting Vermont hard...... Actually Vermont ranks #1 in states to move to for the purpose of reducing impact of climate change. (the photo was taken in South Carolina)
  7. Nicely done! I have to use four different programs/apps to fully edit the footage I shoot with my GoPro 360 but the result is worth it.
  8. Mind boggling. I grabbed three screenshots from the video. Top is a month old, middle is two weeks and bottom is present.
  9. Update on my brother's Jag. A guy in Scotland said "I have to have it!" and the price was right so my brother shipped it from Breckenridge to him. I attended a concert the other night and parked my '99 Vette behind this '62 beauty I met the owner who told me that it had been used for drag racing when he bought it 35 years ago and restored it.
  10. A friend gave me these for my grandson. I'll ask where he got them. As you can see, they will adjust to a smaller size.
  11. And of course my 1999 Corvette takes 93 Octane! Oh well. Speaking of Kelley Blue Book, in the year and a half since I bought the car, its value has increased by $7,000.
  12. Really looks like fun. Would it be practical to ride while carrying a golf bag? Would the battery last for a four hour round? I hate riding carts but get exhausted carrying my bag up steep hills. I have a "follow me' cart that unfortunately has a mind of its own. I even thought of trying a Segway on the course but haven't found one to borrow for a test.
  13. Electric unicycle? Sounds like fun but I'm Old School. A few years ago I was doing a century ride on my bike in Tiverton, RI. My wife opted for the fifty mile option and finished well before I did. She had a pretty good idea of when I'd be finishing a hundred miles and met me about a quarter mile from the finish line with my unicycle. She took my bike and I finished the ride on one wheel. When I came around the last turn into the finish line a friend played the theme from Rocky on his boombox. All converstation came to a halt. For the record, the most I've ridden the uni at one time is 12 miles and that was more than ten years ago. I'm constantly hearing folks yell out, "You've lost a wheel". I used to respond by saying "I'm buying my bike on the installment plan" but switched to, "It's worse than it looks. It started out as a tricycle!"
  14. Thanks ShortcutToMoncton! I'm looking forward to trying all the suggestions.
  15. Hysterical! Love the lost skier trying to negotiate his way through the forest of carvers at the 4:30 mark and the innovative technique at 6:30.
  16. As a subscriber to Outside Magazine (they own NASTAR) I discovered that I could download a picture pack from the Nationals for free. This was one of the shots they got of me. I'm really looking forward to next year to try the technique suggestions you guys have come up with.
  17. My oldest three grandsons all entered the NASTAR Nationals as both skiers and boarders but we ran into a logistical issue. The 14 year old and the 11 year old were sharing a softboot board and were racing on different days but the older boy qualified for the Race of Champions and that left Archie with no board. I set him up with this board (probably 20 years old and never ridden) and a set of hardboots that actually fit him. His first time ever riding hard boots was in the race course and he did great. When his brother was done with the softboot board, Archie switched back to it but his fastest runs were on this Rossignol. He qualifed for the Race of Champions (Gold Division) on skis and finished 2nd in a head-to-head elimation race with 32 males of all ages. He was unopposed on the snowboard and hammed it up on the podium. Presenting him his medal were US Team Skiers Bridger Gile and Paula Moltzan.
  18. I tried one last day at Killngton but spent my time avoiding dirt and rocks. Golf season is here... I did find a very short clip a friend shot earlier in the season.
  19. Since I took this job sixteen years ago I haven't had any time off in the winter. I've told them I'm getting too old to be lugging and setting up fencing three days a week. My fear is that if I quit, they'll just drop the program. If anyone from southern Vermont is interested, you need to be able to set a race course and get certified as a pacesetter on skis. Good computer skills needed. PM me if interested. I really would like to get out and attend clinics, etc. I put together a short video of what the job entails a few years ago.
  20. I would really love to. My job as NASTAR coordinator and pacesetter at Okemo precludes being able to take the time off. I'm trying to hire someone to lessen my load and participate in more things like Montucky.
  21. Mike Trapp had told me that. Thanks for the reminder and all the other suggestions. The rain stopped and I went out to implement the ideas. Unfortunately, the season is really over in southern Vermont. I adapted to the 60/55 fairly quickly with more of roll the ankles than a heel/toe maneuver and tried to complete the turns across the hill but wound up dodging slush, rocks, puddles, and bare spots. It was one and done and it wasn't pretty. I'll bookmark all the great advice for next season.
  22. How is it I've never seen your video before? Extremely well done and highly professional. I stand corrected on the amount of heel and toe lift. I don't have any way to measure it but I suspect I do have 4 degrees on both on my F2s. Canting would have been an issue in the past (see below) but I got a new knee three years ago and both are perfectly aligned now.
  23. Sunsurfer - I looked up your Snowmass results. Impressive! I didn’t answer your question about heel and toe lift. I have 2 degrees on both. I’m 173 cm tall and have been using a 48 cm stance a little rear of center. I may try widening it slightly. Rain is forecast until late morning. Hope there will be snow left. Thanks everyone for the very helpful suggestions!
  24. Good advice. I have a gymnastics background (did my last standing backflip on my 50th birthday). Maybe that will help. I just noticed you're from Wellington. My wife and I really enjoyed our visit there especially the Te Papa Museum. The small thumbnail photo below was a wrist mounted GoPro shot of my bungy (I think that's how you spell it in NZ) jump at the Nevis Gorge in 2015. New Zealand ranks #1 of all the places we've visited. https://www.youtube.com/c/PatandPennysTravelChannelVideos/videos
  25. Sunsurfer - thanks for the suggestions. I used to ride 60/55 but now it's more like 52/48. No harm in trying the higher angles again. Rain expected tomorrow but I hope to get out for a few runs. I have the soft orange tongues in the Strato Pros and had the boots softened by John Philkill a few years ago. I'm pretty happy with them. I wish the season could go on a little longer!
