  1. Well, it's more the shocks that take the brunt but true, the springs do get affected as well. :D Maybe if sandbags we added, you know like wing load tests, then that would help the camber out as well. Sorry, that's just one of the first things I think of when I see racks like that lol. Yeah, I'm on the "annoying other family members with my clutter" list as well.
  2. Is it really that bad? Your making me worried lol.
  3. Bummer. Perhaps the toe lever was redesigned for the Titanium "Gold Digger"? That was after all targeted to the EC "bail breakers" (or at least I got that impression). Catek toe levers will have to be added to my list if not. Can't afford the TD2s for a least another year though, so perhaps the toe will be redesigned by the time I can afford them, paired with a nice Donek. (I literally am working two jobs, but uni and life takes it all lol) Wow, Catek toe bail on a TD2...either a neutral position or a real hotseat in the venerable flame threads lol. :D Edit: Better Pics than orginal post, from EC thread.
  4. Probably not IP but trade secret. One is clearly defined and protected, the other on the opposite end of the spectrum, open to the world basicly but tight-lipped and the in-the-know held accountable. Sorry, just had to point that out. :)
  5. You guys may want to edit those email accounts to something like bmvREMOVE57Remove(at)hotmaildotcom or something. PM always works too of course. Nasty spambots...
  6. No one familar with the G35 eh? :( Dr. D used to be an OK substitute for DrCR, but I believe we have a newer member that goes by that username FYI. Again, looking for a truck with a shell that can also carry passengers. Xterra fits that pretty well. No where near as refined as the 4Runner and that's (along with the lower pricetag) is exactly what he's looking for. That is, when a diesel model is available.
  7. The new 4Runner is a nice SUV that's also nice on the road (coil supensions in the rea), but my dad is looking for a truck with a shell that can also carry passengers so he's shying towards the Xterra. Only thing is he wisely won't buy until a diesel verion is released (ever?). Nissan makes astounding engines as well, and made the diesel for the International Scout. Once the new batch of diesels hit the market, you can enjoy the peace of mind for owning an efficient (both more efficient and economical than hybirds), green vehicle that you can support our farmers with by using B100 biodiesel (oil, any kind basically) rather than supporting terrorists. The Europeans have diesel figured out, why can't we Americans?! Driving by a gas station every day that sells B100 biodiesel makes me think more and more that I could be getting twice the gas milage that I'm currently getting with my gas/petrol engine. No offense ursle, but you could be getting a lot more economy and be more kind of the environment if your Prius was diesel powered rather than a hybrid. That said, since you fortunately own a new enough model, you can mod your Prius to recharge from a standard AC outlet! Then _no_ emissions (depending on how you drive) with out the distance limitation of a purely electric car. Check out www.calcars.org. A few european companies are working on a diesel hybrid so I hear, perhaps plugin by standard. If done right, that could be awesome. Anyway, does no one know anything about the Infinity G35AWD?
  8. Yeah, I can see now how steep and hard would favor HBs. That's beyond my skills though lol. I'm just a trail runner/hiker in the foothills of the Appalachians. Beautiful country in its own right, and where I grew up, but I still envy such a backyard as yours. Girls snowboard? And hike too?! I'm shocked, absolutely shocked! :) Seriously though, give the dude a bit of a break. I don't think he intended any malice by it (both assumptions). I know I'd certainly hitchhike if I had the chance, well, ofttimes. :) I can certainly see how special it would be to board a mountain after hiking it. Sure is a lot more affordable than heliboarding lol. Edit: If I ever did consider a serious hike-boarding excursion, I would probably consider going for these puppies: http://www.climb.co.at/e.htm
  9. Is that possible with hardboots? I don't enjoy even walking the packing lot in my Indys lol. Guess softies e.g. are best for something like this.
  10. Making do with WV this year, though looking forward to a Mt.Bachelor potential in '08 with my same friend. Looks like I'll be able to demo a few boards from Donek this year though which I'm totally stoked about and really thankful to Sean for. Mt.Hood is definitly on the list though. Currently still a poor uni student. :o Looking at some of your photos, I really feel like I truely have yet to experience the mountain's true potential and just simply the sheer thrill. It being so cloudly, I didn't get to experience the awesome sight of the mountain while on the road. It probably would have freaked out my little southeastcoaster mind lol.
  11. Um, the girl was wong; the shop didn't carry Carrera. Did find out the RED audio helmet was too big in M though. Probably just going to order the Fireball sans test fitting. Such a great price makes doing so easier. At any rate, it can't be worse than my way too big current setup. :D
  12. Hear's the thing, I'm on the eastcoast, true, but in the southeast. The nearest bump of a mountain is ~4-5hrs away so shops number and quality are affected accordingly. Wow just called a local good-for-this-area shop that actually carries Carrera. I'm shocked and amazed. Should had called them before posting; guess I'm just used to having to get what's needed online rather than local. Yeah, noticed no venting but I tend not to sweat alot, at least my head anyway. My too large Skycap + skullcap underneath has been my standard fare for some time now. I don't think I'll ever snowboard in conditions any warmer than my brief Mt.Hood trip last year... :D . But than again, perhaps the helmet was actually airy due to it being too large, and I really was warmed only by the skullcap.
  13. Looking at picking up a Carrera Fireball Advance Helmet 2.5 on the cheap for the season. Any flaws? For what head shape is it designed? Tried searching online and here, but didn't find anything. I guess I have what's apparently called an oval head. Looks like an OK match as Carrera also makes a squareish-backed helmet for other head shapes. Currently using a RED Skycap (the pre-very-top-vents year, just sliding vents) in size Large, though my head measures a tiny 55.3cm circumference. Recommendation: don't buy equipment in a rush from a retailer a day before a trip :D. Particularlly way to much room on the sides but perhaps it just seems that way do to the pading. Currently ride with a skull-cap underneath. Too large helmet makes my head look huge, but I'm warm and extra comfy. :) Rambling...
  14. Done some fishing. Never got into it, but I have some great memories of fishing with my dad and brother. Thinking about getting into huning. My dad grew up in the boonies so he was weaned with guns, besides my grandfather serving under Gen.Patton and all that entailed e.g. lots of WW2 stuff around the house. Spent some time at some ranges shooting 22rimfire and SW40 Glock. Love rifle range shooting, though not keen on handguns as I'm a fairly good rifle shot and not used the range/accuracy limitations of handguns. Struggling to yeild decent groups at a target 10m in front of me was quite humbling lol. The experience certainly gave me a greater appreciation for police officers who get the job done with what to me should be a secondary rather than a primary. :) Thought about getting a Saiga 12 Tactical rifled-barreled by izhmash. Solid looking gun, but totally impractical for what I do, limited range shooting, and I wouldn't want to ever buy a gun I couldn't also hunt with; a precision .223/5.56 for squirrl hunting would be more fitting for my area of the country, though I guess I could pigeon hunt with the saiga. :D Wikipedia: Saiga 12
  15. Remarkable how different the topsheet looks in real life than as a graphic on the site.
  16. Always thought music on the mountain was a safety no-no...is this no longer the conventional wisdom? (as if anyone ever did care about conventional wisdom)
  17. lol, so true. Same reason why I like such a color with cars (I favor sport saloons/sedans). Navy Blue should be a good choice for under-the-radar bombing, I would think. Maybe Sean could fix you up with a gold but sans metallic finish?
  18. Saw this thread when it started, but didn't get around to posting... Anyone have any experience with the G35 "Skyline" AWD model? I love my 4thGen Maxima SE and am totally hooked on its reliability, so Audi is out despite the RS4 being my kind of car - AWD understated saloon (sedan) that goes like stink (quick). I know I would have to mod it to get to S/RS4 / WRX levels, but I don't mind not getting quite as sport as I would like for a solid car at a solid price (which is again why l like my stock 4thGen MaximaSE). Edit: On the side, my dad is giving the Nissan Xterra (XTrail in Europe?) a hard look, but waiting for a diesel. Biodiesel is fairly available in my area. I'm a big fan of supporting our farmers as opposed to funding the terrorists. Right now my dad is driving an old Ford Econoline with 125k .
  19. Solid choice. I still can't see bird in it though, lol.

    Gloves?!?!

Hum, well I would think I would like at least some breathability, otherwise my hands could still get soaked, but from their own sweat. But perhaps that's why OR tends to run their gloves with lighter insulation? Do you guys know anything about Hestra? Noticed their solid looking Army Leather Heli at STP. For some reason they have a "Not recommended for snowboarding" note for them though. What gives? DrCR
  21. DrCR

    Gloves?!?!

So does that mean they have breathability issues? Didn't take a look at the Couloir, serious, as I'm not a big fan of long gauntlet. If it's that much better than the Tour though (perhaps the retail prices are indicative of this) than my dislike for long gauntlets can be overlooked. The Level Fly gloves may be good gloves...but they are more than twice the price of the gloves in discussion here right now. :)

    Gloves?!?!

Those Pro-Mods are listed as Water-resistant, rather than water-proof so I'll still focus on the Tours and Aretes. The main reason I'm looking for new gloves is because of a couple of spring-like days spend at MtHood last January where my hands were cold and soked due to the slush. FYI though both the Tours and Aretes can be had for ~$30 which prompted my cost-independent questions. I'm shying toward the Arete just because of STP seeming excellent return/warrenty policy though. Any comments on the pros and cons of the leather palm? I guess that's the only real difference between the two. Will the Arete last longer or shorter being nonleather? Does the Arete's modular nature make it more bulky compared to the Tour?

    Gloves?!?!

Right now I'm torn between the Outdoor Research Tour Glove and Arete Glove. Price difference being no issue (I can get them for the same price), which is the better glove? The ability to use different liners in the Arete for different temps is neat, but not really a grabber for me as I only snowboard a week or so every season in the mid of winter. Is there a an advantage/disadvantage to the Tour's leather palm or an advantage/disadvantage to the Arete's synthetic palm? Thanks! DrCR
  24. Hope the trade show went well for you! Hate to bug you about this so soon, but has a demoing via mail been reestablished? I'm really interested in demoing an Axxess...or a G-Force Blade / Swoard-esque board even more so! :D
