  1. I just assumed you could ducktape in some cardboard as an extender, duh. Hum, wonder how airport security would like that lol. Didn't think about Series3 being shorter than Series2. You could actually mate in two Series3s, but that would naturally be twice the cost.
  2. Am I the only one lurking the BOL store to see if any ever show up for us non-preorder slackers? :D :(
  3. I got one for my MtHood trip last year. E.g. Airplane flight from eastcoast to westcoast. Went for the "#3", widest model, so I could get my 4807 in there. Your freeride may fit in there as well? Really glad with the purchase. Only one complaint: A bit awkward/ time-consuming to pack. That said, it's really light as is -- a must for meeting airlines <50lbs. To be honest though, the next time I go outwest I think I may just mail my board. $30 there and back may be well worth it.
  4. Now that the thread originating question has been answered, I will not take it off topic a bit. :) Not Wax -- anyone use it as an overlay? I'm planning on hotwaxing in the CH wax of the day and then buffing in (e.g. corking w/o spending money on a bespoke corking tool) a layer of Not Wax if it's in the least bit a wet/humid day. Heading to Snowshoe Moutain Jan1...looking at the temp there now leads me to believe it's going to be rather wet... :(
  5. I just now got around to ordering one - only to find out I'm seriously late. Assumed "more than enough" made would indeed be enough. Maybe I should preorder now for next year lol. :D Anyway, thanks for making such a great product! DrCR
  6. Yeah, wasn't impressed, well, at all really with Cataloochee when I went there a long while ago. Though if you live near it, it's better than the nothing I have near by lol. Wolfs expansion doesn't seem too impressive, but it could enhance their better runs but making them less crowded. Please post how you like it if/when you go. :)
  7. No, but let me know how the snow is. :) Going off topic with this, sorry, but have you been to Wolf? I ask as it's an hour closer for me than Beech, and they do have a few new runs this year.
  8. Anyone know of any reviews for this board e.g. Hardbooter.com style? I'll be totally honest with you -- I'd really like to get a Swoard. I'm just not willing to layout over $1k USD on a board. But being sold on the wide, larger SCR alpine board concept, the Blade looks like a solid match - especially if the Blade turns out a performance like gdboytyler's EC-esque custom Donek.
  9. I've heard Sun Valley is one of the better (best?) NA mountain for ECing. True, yes/no?
  10. Seems like the perfect technique for anyone ever stuck on a skiers-only hill.
  11. Well, I guess that would key anyone from ever stealing it... :D
  12. Well, I went ahead an purchased a pair of Scott ACS Duel googles for $24 each. Went ahead and got one in Night Amplifier, so I'll be sure to report back in mid-Jan on how they were.
  13. Yeah, thought about going for a nice pair of Carrera Kimeriks, but I've desided to go the cheap route as I only board a few days a year. Right now torn between these two: Smith Cascade Pro Scott ACS Duel Both can be had for ~$20-25. Planning on getting a pair, one Amplifier, one Yellow/Night Amplifier....Just not sure if I should go for the Yellow or Night Amplifier (or the Smith option instead of Scott, naturally ruling out Night Amplifier). Leaning towards the Scotts as I love the Amplifier lens of my old, beat-up, now retired Scott Classics.
  14. Has anyone used Scott's Night Amplifier lens? Leaning towards getting a yellow lens for night use, but since Scott went through the trouble of getting a patent for their night amplifier, perhaps they're on to something...
  15. Anyone use the Atomic 2 Pro-Tect Helmet or know how good it is or its specs e.g. head shape? Tried searching online and here, but didn't find anything. Atomic googles any good either? Thanks _______________ ....snowboard trip only ~5weeks now...
  16. Nice board! ^not with the transparent backround I don't think. I believe all Olys have to be opaque (protecting tech and what not). Correct me if I'm wrong though.
  17. The cheapest route was naturally a weekday package, so we went with a January 1 Monday arrival - January 5 Friday departure and beding down in Lewisburg or Beckley Friday evening before heading home. For the four of us for the 4 days on the mountain (4 1/2 if you count the free arrival lift tickets) came to ~$1210 and including everything but food costs came out at ~$370 per person. I believe the lady said we would be in Mountain Crest or something like that. 500 yards from the nearest slope, apparently Powerridge. What do you know about it? Old and decrepit and ready to collapse? :D Eyeing Fox Chase and Flying Eagle runs; too bad we'll be at the top of Snowshoe rather than Silver. How often are the shuttles run (or aren't there any?). $370/person for a 4.5days on the mountain, 6day trip, isn't that bad at all....but if we could have gotten a better deal with your unit I sorry we couldn't have worked out. :) The ~$1210 includes lift tickets for the four of us for the stay. $1210 - 4($129) = $694, but I believe that $129 figure may have been for only three consecutive nights not the four required. My eastcoast experience had been limited to NC and Winterplace WV, this being my first time to Snowshoe. Have a relative in Vermont inviting me up this winter though, so perhaps I'll be able to sample some Stowe/Smuggs action this year. Have a Mt. Bachelor trip in the works for next year. After sampling Mt.Hood last year, boarding icecoast and PNW just seems like two totally different sports. Welcome to BomberOnline Are you a softbooter, hardbooter, or a skier? Wondering which runs would be best to try ECing on and would like to know from which angle your perspective would be comming from. :) Best Regards, DrCR _____________
  18. I'd like to try on helmets while up that way. Any particular shops to check out? Marker and Uvex are the ones I'm particularly interested in, though perhaps also Atomic and Dainese.
  19. Talked with the artechski.com guy, and said the Carreras were for round heads. Glad I couldn't order right off. He said Marker would be better for a more oval shape or Uvex for even more so on the oval side of things. He didn't say anything about Atomic, Dainese, or Scott, though I've heard Scotts are more on the round side of things. Bummer last years Markers look so poor. I may make do until next next year as it seems all the '06-'07 helmets look pretty cool, but I still only want to pay ~$55 for them. :D Going to snowshoe this year. Maybe I'll be able to test-fit at a shop up there.
  20. For $350 I would go for the Saiga 12 hands down. It's the tank of shotguns. But it may be lacking in accuracy for you, though you can get a rifled version if you're going to be doing slug shooing. Tar-Hunt RSG-12 is hands down the slug sniping rifle/shotgun, but it's more that the kind of money your talking about right now. How to Buy a Used Gun Mossberg 500 16th on F&S list. Can't believe the Saiga12 isn't on the list. Saiga12 single-handedly proved a semi-auto shotgun could be reliable. Just what you would expect from IZHMASH. :) Thinking about picking up a Saiga 12 Tactical, but I don't hunt and only go the range a few times a year so it doesn't make since for me to buy anything. Oh, and your charged an additional ~$400 just for the pistol grip. I love politics... FYI Russian American Armory is the importer for IZHMASH.
  21. Marlington motor Inn is pet friendly, which means DrCR unfriendly do to allergies. :( Saw these guys: www.mtairybnb.com , but I don't know. A little to foofy and waterbeds offer no support. I'm going to get in contact with Snowshoe tomorrow and see what the cheapest hotels/rates are that have shuttling service. Found only one lodge, "Snowshoe Mountain Resort" on a googled hotel search engine (onetravelsource.com), ~$105/night to ~$150 on the 6th (Saturday). $100/night is dooable, esp. if basically on the mountain, but I may on Friday night drive to Beckley's Fairfield Inn for $85 for the night or perhaps to Lewisburg's Hampton Inn for a touch more, but an hour eariler arrival after a tiring week of boarding. :)
  22. Marlington. Thanks, I'll look into it. :) Might not be able to meet up with you though as it's a weekday trip, but as a word of warning in case we do meet up -- I stink. :D Yeah, I think that's what my friend was thinking, and I can certainly agree. Silver Creek may not be open early Jan? Would be a serious bummer if not. No blowers there?
  23. Sorry to bump an old thread, but would you guys offer some input in my new thread here? Thanks. :o :) DrCR
  24. Hey. Planning on a Snowshoe trip Jan2-6 or, as a backup to schedule conflicts, the week before Christmas. 5day trip, 3days on the mountain. Originally going to Winterplace. Got everything reserved and speced out, calcuated fuel cost etc. (only $150 1/4th share for lodge and fuel, $250 including 3day lifts) when a friend of mine says, "Why not Snowshoe?". :D I have reservations at Fairfield Inn of Beckley for $330 for 5nights. Not bad. Can I get an equivalent at Snowshoe though? I have mold/dust/pet/smoke/etc. allergies so unfortuantly I can't just stay anywhere and for ~70/nightlyavg Fairfield of Beckley fit the bill nicely...if we were going there. Four of us total. My parents good old 95 Econoline will offer us plenty of room for us and our gear (and my dad wants it worn out so he can justify something new ), but it also has me worried about not being able to make it through some mountain village in the winter, whereas Winterplace is just off the highway. Any insight? Thanks, DrCR
  25. Don't know about that particular model, but Mitsubishi is kind of know to be on the opposite end of the spectrum of Toyota and Honda when it comes to quality and reliability, if you catch my drift. I would spend my very hard earned money on the Outback myself if that was the kind of vehicle I wanted, looking for a used model to match a lower budget.
