  1. ^ Awesome What did you guys cut through your boards with? Then what, just smear the fresh cut edge with some slow-setting epoxy to keep the sandwitch from separating? Also, what are you guies' (I made that work up) weight? I'm tempted to pick up a 178cm to do this mod on... --- On the side: A really nice _free_ image tweaker is PhotoFiltre, which you can get from sites like tucows.com. It has a really good jpeg codec, so you get superior quality/file size compared to a lot of generic apps. Here's a direct link for the app: http://www.tucows.com/preview/361834
  2. Jeff / Peter, have you tried riding it on hardpack yet? One of the things I like about the 4807 is that I'm not necessarily bought to tears when I have to take on some hardpack. Just how much is this versatility compromised my making it more of a true ST? Edit: Hum, will I even have enough board to do this with my shorter 168cm 4807...?
  3. Awesome, thanks guys. No, just the nose. ;) A convex base will feel sloppy, hard to get on edge. And potentially a little unpredictable if you're trying to ride straight – you’re never quite sure which way the board is going to roll and resultantly turn. I didn't have too much trouble with the board when I went to MtHood since I sought out powder, but on a few harder-pack areas it was a bear to ride.
  4. My OSin 4807 is really convex, and I've just simply gotten tired of trying to sand it down. I thought about getting that flattening/structure tool from togar, but I figured I would put the money towards a good shop job. Is there a place I can mail my board to have it flattened and structured for me? I can take care of the rest (edges, wax, etc.) from there, no probem. I think I've heard of a place now and then on the forums here. PTC I think it was...? Thanks, DrCR P.s. Why don't I got to a local shop? Well being in the southeast, I wouldn't trust any shop in my area with my boards.
  5. Not all jpg codecs are created equal... and please don't drop down to 800x600 if you can. Hum, just shot me an email and I'll reply back with an email addy you can send them to. I'll resize and host them for you and then post back here with them. :) Edit: I'm particularly interested as I have a 4807 waiting to be modded. :D
  6. The Prior 4WD was the board I was refering to; I know of no other "4WD" named board in the alpine industry. Maybe you're using "4WD" to be synonymous with AllMountainAlpine? If so, never heard the name used in that way before. :o
  7. Well its funny, in a way I got spoiled that second day since there was basically no one out. I guess Monday being so bad and the inital conditions for Tuesday being worse scared most everone off. Will be kind of odd actually having to genuinely look out for other riders lol. Ah, the secret stuff... shot me any email of where (based on the trail map) I want to check out, would you? Well, maybe not your best secrets, I know, but maybe the quasi-secrets. :D
  8. My current board is nice and wide the way I like it, but a horrible combo of too soft and too low SCR. Maybe I should just save up a bunch and get a custom board. Looking really for somelike like the Swoard, but a little more versatile/allmountainish. Something like a 4WD with a ~12-13m SCR. Too bad no one makes something like that. :(
  9. Bummer I'm so light. Really want to get a board with ~13SCR but I guess this is not the board then. Basically looking for a wide Speedster RS with the stiffness of a Silberpfiel. Thanks anyway. Good luck in your ebay auction.
  10. Cool, tried to keep my eye out for other hardbooters. Saw one guy on a Virus, but he didn't seem to be BOL so I didn't ask. Yeah, really wanted to experience Tline on a clear day. Oh well, yet another reason to visit my friend again. :D
  11. What weight range is this board designed for? Also, what's it's sidecut radius, do you know? Presumably relatively large since it's a GS...
  12. Got back from a Monday, Tuesday 2-day trip to MtHood / to visit a friend of mine. May not seem to incredible for most of you, but it was a big difference and a lot of fun for a previous eastcoaster-only. The conditions were, well, horrible. The first day was wind and snow ... and right at the freezing point so by mid-day you were soked and cold, but still fun. The second day was a scare at first. Timberline closed due to wind and it looked bad for Hood too, but then the temps dropped up top and since there were even less people than on Monday, we had all this lovely fresh all to ourselves. :D Here's a shot with one of my friends. I can't tell you how often somone commented or asked about the board. I actually started to get sick of it lol. Kind of hard to go back to eastcoast hardpack/ice but in a way, cruzing the fresh with the OSin and riding the hardpack on my other board seems almost like two different sports. Still want to got back to Meadows again though. With cascade express and vista closed, I feel like I have yet to experience the mountain's true potential. Clickable thumbnail, Tuesday mid-day: MtBachelor planned for '08.
  13. Too bad beech is full of punks though. Some morons threw my board down on a sidewalk...looks like I went rock-boarding with it. Not sure why. Going to sugar next friday, hopefully it won't be a repeat experience.
  14. ^nope, some guys ride completely flat.
  15. Anyone got a direct link to that? I'd really like to have that one on my hard drive ...the traditional tools->page source->media isn't doing the trick this time nor a yahoo video search. Looks "photoshopped" if I can use that expression for a vid
  16. Well if you got the green like you say, I would lay it out on a Donek.com Axis or Priorsnowboards.com 4WD. Both great alpine boards what will still give you the allmountainness that I'm guessing you probably would still like. If you want something less versatile but more carving oriented, the F2 Silberpfeil would be a good choice to you, or the more budget friendly Donek Pilot. If you're not on hardboots, I would recommend the TD2 bindings with yellow e-rings and Deeluxe Lemans or Suzukas for boots. If you don't mind jumping into things, got straight to the Deeluxe Indys, which is what I did. Felt really hard at first, but I got used to them really fast and was glad I had gone with them. Make sure you also get the to-be-released Bomber spring mod for the Deeluxe boots. Just some ideas for you from a relative newbie myself. This will only be my second year hardbooting. :)
  17. My bootfitting will cost me 40.00 per hour ... and more if any boot work (grinding, stretching, etc.) wil be required. I really doubt I'll be tipping. Wouldn't be suprise if I see "15% gratuity included" or something on my recepit. That said, if the man does a good job, I won't mind.
  18. Saw this about a week ago, but never going around to posting here. Don't usually get the mag, but my sister does and happened to send it by my desk on the way to the recycle bin. Quickly scanned the pages and I was glad to see a HBer! Yeah, not sure on that second photo either. Hard to tell. I'm just hoping that one clearly HB shot will get at least a few people websearching Donek and Catek. :)
  19. Oh is that all... :D Thanks
  20. What kind of boots were you using at the time of the injury? I have a really hard time imaging hurting my ankles in my Indys. Glad to hear your recovering! :)
  21. I've sold a few small items to Canadians via ebay and paypal and didn't have a problem. May not be a representative sample though.
  22. Well, I know bomber will be a distro, but was thinking more in the terms of now. (Thought Linux when I saw "distro" lol. I'm a IT-Procurement dude parttime at the uni. We use vendor for vendors, distros for Linux). Scheinman, shipping to and from Canada isn't that expensive. I think it cost ~$10USD to get in a binding sized package from Canada once. It wasn't expedited or anything though.
  23. Yeah, the Donek Axis 167 should do the trick for you. The 172 would probably be better for you if you're on the more agressive side of things, but the 167 has a smaller 9.6 sidecut for you. Don't expect to do serious racing with an allmountain board though. http://www.donek.com/specs.htm
