  1. Way to stick it to the man, Boris.
  2. In a conversation with Bola last season, he mentioned that he was riding one and raved about it. Others in the member list have it listed in their quiver. Wish I had 2g earmarked.
  3. Dave, I'm a pretty big guy (215 lbs +/- & well over 6 ft.) and ride the same rossi both out west and at home in the east. The only sketchy moments I've had were at times when I was fatigued and stayed locked in a turn longer than I should have. Tail was sticky, my legs were dead - whatever. In that nano second that one decides to turn uphill in those instances it pays to have waited until the narrow eastern type trail is all your own.
  4. Nice to see that some markets are still functioning efficiently!
  5. see the For Sale section on this site - 181 cm wheelie bag being sold for $75.
  6. Persumably, one has to be there in person, right? No way to access online day of, I guess. Is it a card with a picture or 4 tickets Loveland style? ULTERIOR MOTIVE ALERT: Anyone wanna split one if it's the latter? I'll pay 60/40 or something.
  7. Thanks for the responses. If you should learn anything further, let me know.
  8. I've seen enough testimonials to believe that Larry is the man to see about getting my boots right. My question is; has anyone talked to him of late? Tried calling and e.mail over past couple of weeks to no avail. I'll be in area early - mid December and want to see if I can get an appointment. Do you need an apointment? I just assumed.....
  9. Thanks for reply - not sure when I'll next be close to where you are. If it goes unsold, I'll meet you at Roundtop in a couple of months and probably/most likely buy it from you. I'm thinking it's a good board for my huge nephew to intro to alpine.
  10. Isn't Houston a place with virtually no zoning ordinances? I've neer been and maybe I'm mistaken but I remember hearing stories about nice 3 bedroom/2 baths being next door to skyscrapers (embellish) and the like, no? Someone straighten me out - is that why real estate is a good deal?
  11. I'll 2nd the aforementioned comments about A-Basin and Loveland. I go every year for about a week in late Nov - early Dec and am never disappointed. I can buy an plane ticket several weeks out and not watch NOAA obsessively to see if I'm going to be shutout. Also, you can buy a 4-pack from Loveland online for $120.00 w/no blackout dates. Awesome deal. A.Basin is equally a good deal at about $50-$60 (I don't remember exactly). Everything about it is good - I've got family in West Denver and these two resorts are relatively close, in the grand scheme of things. Fortunately my work provides an ample amount of personal time and these annual trips are how I burn some of the time I'd otherwise lose at year's end. Typically, it's a great way to start the season and it's not too redundant because the hills close to home are just barely getting under way, if at all. That often would include NY and VT, although last year was an exception. I'm not sure about via JFK or LaGuardia, however, from Balt/D.C., non-stops to Denver are frequent and not too pricey ($300-$350 if planned right). Love the non-stops because I think I'll most likely end up in the same city as my gear. All this is getting me stoked - think I'll check out Southwest flights right now. Thanks Queequeg!
  12. I was wondering if any other hardbooters contributing to this forum are similarly big footed. When I started a few years back, I bought Head Stratos Pros in the largest size (31.5) sight unseen simply because they were the biggest I could find. They had to be manipulated quite a bit, at that. I need new liners in one pair that I own and was hoping for some viable options other than the Thermo Flex liners that are all I've ever ridden in. The liners have always seemed like the weakest link in the chain, so to speak. Unless memory fails me, Phil from PA (formerly of Roundtop affiliation) was in UPZ boots of about the same size. Anyone with insight about which are the most spacious liners or what other bootmakers out there produce an equally large hardboot, please weigh in. Thanks.
  13. I'll 2nd what URSLE said about Catek's reliability. My experiences in the past have been excellent and I have no doubt that they'll do right by you.
  14. Got the Fish - many thanks BB and all the best to you in your recovery. BTW, Fish looks good and thanks for the slab of storage wax - appreciate that.
  15. Nice purchase Dave. I'm an East Coast guy and have the same board. I originally bought mine to leave in my bro in-laws basement in Denver for annual "visits". After a few days on it at Loveland and A-Basin I decided it was damp enough to hook turns in narrower spots at home. I'm about 215 lbs and it's fairly nimble and likes speed. Totally lethargic and cumbersome without speed, but when you reach the threshhold, it comes alive. Not much nose but that's okay because it's the board that I've most enjoyed sitting a little back on and snaking around. Can't wait!
  16. Billy, I got your e.mail. Thanks. I sent a reply and will send $ tomorrow first thing. I have the ROSSI wc 190 - super board. Tex, you should buy it if you've got the kind of ballast you've eluded to in other threads/posts. No dig there - just a great board to press at speed.
  17. Billy, I sent to; info@hardbooter instead of just hardbooter. Sorry. I'll resend when I get home. Thanks.
  18. Billy, I sent you an e.mail at Hardbooter - awaiting response. Thanks.
  19. I'm all over it. I'm at work at the moment and will e.mail tomorrow from home - Billy, just tell me where to send the $. If not here, then please reply to my e.mail of tomorrow (I should e.mail you at hardbooter, no?) and I'll take care of it ASAP. Thanks, Dave. (sent wrapped in newspaper would make me smile.)
  20. I should like to be 2nd in line for the fish, after redrabbit. I'll hover over the thread accordingly.
  21. Burton Alp 163 on Craigs List (VT - South Londonderry) $100, of course.
  22. Skatha, Dave responded that I was RIGHT (correct) on ALL counts. Also, if everyone involved had taken measures to ensure that the infection did not occur, it would not have occurred. Hospitals are supposed to be places of healing, no? No data, no statistics, no personal day to day empirical evidence here - so what do I know? I know that hospitals bill signifigantly more in an instance like Dave's than had he not acquired the infection. I know that multiple thousands of people in the U.S. die or are seriously made ill each year by infections that they acquire while in a hospital setting. I know that once a patient acquires an infection in a hospital setting, hospitals are loathe to admit fault and individuals involved in the patient's care typically go into CYA mode. There ARE problems that are systemic. Sorry for my part in any negativity here but I felt put on the defensive. Most importantly, hope Dave is feeling better and better.
