  1. Crafty bump I must admit. I think about the board at least once a week for many months now. Newborn baby, recent tanker purchase (NEEDED that one) and most days each season spent in the east = no Burner for Dave. Someone say the Burners require more action on the nose? Did I hear words to that effect? You got me thinking about it again.
  2. My last name is Kemp and my middle initial is T. If only. I'm rarely envious and freely admit the feeling came over me. My boots are 31.5 and I can only imagine how much I'd have to dial them up with a 14 waist. There is another Kemp with a better board to be sure. Nicely done.
  3. I get that sort of back handed compliment at least once or twice a season and pay it little or no mind. I have seen little kids get tossed by my ruts and that makes me feel bad. I sometimes have offered as consolation the fact that I am always first to dig deep enough to find rocks and such. When the snow softens up a bit the trenches are sometimes gratuitous. But who cares, really.
  4. Past few years I've been using Priceline on day of stay just an hour or two before I want to check in. Great if you are mobile in a small town like Frisco or Dillon. I've been getting it done for $35 - $40 a night at Holiday Inn Frisco or Super 8 Dillon. I rode with a guy last year in March that stayed at the aforementioned Hostel in Dillon or Silverthorne. Open as of that recently. Last time I was in Frisco I had no laptop and called about a room that was more than $100 a night. I walked through the lobby and used one of the desktops in the common area to look at priceline. $40 for the same place.
  5. I'm 6'5" and about 215. I also am hesitant to drop big $ on much any board because my experience is that I'll flatten it out. Tex, how many days a year are you riding?
  6. Once when desperate I snagged about 10 of the condiment size honey packs at Starbucks that are intended for tea drinkers and got through my last 6 runs or so on sugar high. They were handy and while they did stiffen up in the cold, they were still cooperative enough. I've got a thing for good dark chocolate when I ride. Actually, I've guess I've gotta thing for good dark chocolate no matter where I am or what I am doing.
  7. Anyone intend to be at Loveland or A-Basin tomorrow? I could be persuade to either if there will be any fellow Bomber members.
  8. Helmets are certainly the least expensive of all insurances. The ratio of helmet expense to medical bills averted is almost incomprehensible in disparity. To say nothing of continuing with one's life as normal. Nice of you to thank everyone involved in your care but don't slight yourself because ultimately you are the one that decided to put it on. Well done. Live to ride another day.
  9. bump - for the purposes of the hard sell. Want to view - see BOL member garyj thread of March 17, 2005. Look him up under "members list".
  10. Whitetail is a good venue when considering it's location 1 -1 1/2 hrs from D.C. and the fact that it's largely South facing. I'm always astonished and grateful that investors hopes spring eternal in the face of historically poor revenue and climate projections. The backside of the hill is completely undeveloped and to my untrained eye, has great potential. I've long since overcome the early season frustration that comes with living in this area. Every year in mid-october I buy a $200 plane ticket non-stop to Denver and a Loveland 4 pack for $100 and this provides the foundation for a cost effective early season trip. Always in the first few weeks of December because my job makes me use or lose time by e.o.y. Conditions in CO not always ideal by then but way better than anything close to here and......I'M RIDING, so who cares.
  11. Ready to ship it out - $100.00 includes shipping to lower 48. Good deal and if you want to see pics, lookup the honorable BOL member "garyj" on the member list and see thread he created March of 2005 under same title. Board ridden one day since then. Too small for me and taking up space.
  12. All apologies to k2 slopesurfer for my having been unresponsive. I've updated my e-mail info and sent one as well. My mistake.
  13. burton fp 164, waist is 19 and sidecut is 11.79. Decent shape - rode once and too small for my taste. Green and black topsheet. If any interest, I'll direct to pictures. Not sure of year of board.
  14. I have it and will be in Denver 2nd week of december - not selling, but if you don't already have your own by then your welcome to try mine. I know I'll be at Loveland at least two days of that week. Post here if interested, I'll see it here sooner than an e-mail.
  15. At first glance, I immediately thought of Christmas morning and the FACT that $600 boards all over the country are rounded off right out of the cellophane. Crazy.
  16. Many thanks to all that responded. This site is priceless. I'll be in CO second week of Dec and must patronize the Bomber store. I'm going on record to make sure I do it.
  17. Anyone with experience that would like to offer advice, please do. I'm coupling a new Tanker 187 with Catek OS1 (long) and if anyone knows of any helpful hints, trial and error type experiences or the like, please be forthcoming. Any nuances at all? Don't be afraid to state the obvious - for me sometimes the most elusive. Thanks.
  18. I'm in the Head Stratos Pro 31.5 and love them. I have no experience with others, but comfortable speaks for itself. So much so that I bought a 2nd pair in the event Head ceases to make same. "Phil" of PA, occasional contributor on this site, is also big footed and I believe he has upz in same or similar size. Not many choices to be sure.
  19. Derf nailed it - that's the board. Looking for the regular footed 164. TEX - when you say talk to Bryan, would that be the oldsnowboards guy? Thanks to all.
  20. A good friend would like to p/u a Burton Twisted 164 (not an alpine board). I thought I'd put out the feelers. Probaly made early-mid nineties, asym & regular footed, Austrian made.
  21. I just took another look at my new one. It sure is pretty.
  22. I'm familiar with the drive from Reno to Kirkwood. Curious about a realistic approximation of the drive time from Reno to Mammoth. Also, historically, what are typical early - mid December conditions at each? I've only been to Tahoe area in late Feb and March. Never December. Any feedback appreciated. Thanks and all the best.
  23. Check out Jeffro's thread on the for sale side. Seems like it'd be made to order.
