Exposed electrical wire everywhere, half finished hotels, construction material and trash dumped everywhere, they had years to prepare for the Olympics! Sad, very sad. I hope our athletes return safely!

Snow is finally in the forecast for Mammoth, although it is expected to be Sierra Cement (with snow ratio of near 8-1). At this point in the season, anything is better than nothing.

It sounds like the Winter Olympics are going to be a disaster! Only a few weeks to go and construction isn't complete yet?? It will be very interesting to see if the media glosses it over. If that is even possible.

Check out 6D helmets. Arguably the highest tech helmets on the market.

^ Do you have a link to that article SunSurfer? It is difficult to know what is real, and what is hype when it comes helmet design/technology.

You should take a look at 6D helmets, perhaps the state of the art helmet currently on the market.

Shintronics are great! They make your boots very comfortable to wear cranked down all day. I use them everyday.

I know there wasn't much snow, but other than that, how were the snow surface conditions?

Personally I prefer Summit to Mt High. There is a lot more space, and more runs to thin out the crowd at Summit. Not to mention I've had way to many collisions and near misses at Mt. High.

Thanks for the update. Sounds like (less than) average conditions for early season Mammoth. I'll wait to head up there once they've had a few more storms.

Incredible deal (if they get some decent natural snow)! Too bad I can't take advantage of it - I've purchased many season passes there over the years. On a side note, Baldy is not a particularly great mountain for carving. The few runs they have are relatively narrow, and usually full of skiers and boarders. -
