  1. oh it still is. same as always. Actually it's a touch moreso.... laid down my first carve this weekend where the Gondi mid-station used to be.
  2. no, it's a piece of real estate, near my favorite eastern US mountain, Sugarloaf. See the link at the top of my post. Although I think if I had 700 large to blow on a 2nd home, it would be right on the slopes. Buuuut with Powerball winnings I suppose I could have both.
  3. http://realestate.yahoo.com/Maine/Kingfield/Homes_for_sale/faabc3f5b2616f27d3f545b8d3f9ae Took a drive up there yesterday, took this pic.... Sugarloaf is visible in the distance, look between the 2 trees in the foreground. Bigelow range is off to the right. larger version: http://www.jmphotocraft.com/IraMountainView.jpg

  5. I believe the Celtics are still the winningest team in American sports history. If not, maybe second only to that evil baseball team to the south. But even if the Pats lose (which they won't), they're still the dynasty of the decade.
  6. Wow! Similar thing happened to me at SES 05.... I got to the demo tent, and 5 minutes later Bob walks up to me and hands me my camera. Found it on the hill. Then on my next run, I spot a yellow Motorola radio in the snow. Yeah, it was Bob's. Yes! RAW is the only way. So I always use Auto WB anyway because it doesn't matter in raw. Interestingly enough on my 30D it usually does a great job except in incandescent light.

No kidding, same here. Such a funny glimpse of how unglamorous it really is. Except for the 2 minutes part, of course!
  8. I think I once saw a stripper do something similar with ping pong balls.
  9. Yeah, but he'll have a ton more latitude for post-processing if he gets it mostly right in the camera.
  10. Is this a quiz, or are you asking me? :) I believe it's because the camera tries to meter the snow as gray. And snow also often looks blue in photos because it's reflecting the sky. I suppose there's more to it than that....?
  11. 167 to 173cm board length. 10.5 to 11.5m radius. Donek, Madd, Coiler, Prior. http://www.bomberonline.com//articles/how_to_buy_snowboard.cfm
  12. Paul - when taking snow scene pictures..... look in the menus of your camera for something called Exposure Compensation or some such thing... set it to +2/3, and this will brighten your shots. Snow fools a camera badly, as you can see! Keep the pics coming!

  14. Awesome! :biggthump I just hope any curmudgeonly skiers don't assume it's a softbooter falling and "scraping all the snow off the hill".
