  1. Agree with pmorita. Hard to justify more than a few hours. I would take a pole of who would be interested and where they are, and then try to find a location that is the best overall fit.
  2. I have a complete setup around that size. PM me.
  3. Binding suck drives me insane from a resale value of my boards standpoint, but I do not think it effects performance at all. I noticed many riders on Europa Cup with it in both Boardercross (where the center portion of the base is very often in contact with snow) and GS / SL. Seems to be a fact of life in high end boards. Interestingly, I have never heard or experienced even a bit of binding suck on Channel-System boards. Something about that insert design / approach seems to make it a non-issue.
  4. 100% cosigned. Let's stop making excuses for bad service, bad products, embezzlement, etc in a niche sport like this. It is permissive, and ultimately it degrades the longevity of this already nearly dead aspect of board riding. This area is expensive enough to create a massive barrier to entry for the average rider to begin with, not to mention in some sense they are being asked to essentially learn to ride anew on top of forking out major coin on equipment (even if purchased used). Throwing in crappy customer experience is not a boon to this dynamic. I understand this might not be his day job--boo freakin' hoo. Gradually people will take their business elsewhere (including away from hardbooting / carving) and you lose your investment... and we lose another manufacturer of cool shit. I think the community needs to demand a higher standard.
  5. That is in total (all four composite components) or per pair?
  6. Anyone know the weight of the various Gecko models? I cannot find this info on the website, however is plausible (ok, probable) I am just not searching well enough.
  7. If OP is all taken care of, I am on the hunt for these as well. Let me know.
  8. They make great products, absolutely no argument there. That said, I have (and many others I have bench marked with) had fairly lackluster / crappy purchasing experiences with Apex under current ownership. I am simply pointing out that, from an averaging standpoint, it seems to skew towards "poor" or "mediocre". In a niche business / sport such as this one, that is an essential aspect of a business's operation and reputation that should be removed.
  9. Prior owner was great. Jason, I'm sure he's a nice enough guy... But come on. Niche market. Prices all around the same for these products and a pretty affluent customer base. This is what sinks these businesses. Many emails already, no response.
  10. Very helpful. So is the sale going on or what? What is going on with this company?
  11. This happening? Anyone got an inside line? The overall experience with Apex hasn't been great, I feel, over the last few years. Still great products, but the lack of customer appreciation / service makes me want to look for other options. I just want a pair of geckos, guys!

    FIS PGS/PSL Bias

Gremlin, I think your so focused on the bullet points your missing the tongue planted firmly in cheek. Dual is boring to watch, does not display the talent of the riders or capability of the equipment, makes far less use of the terrain, is harder and less engaging to watch, and is less relatable. Bad for the sport, ultimately.

    FIS PGS/PSL Bias

Current racers can state anything they want about the modern FIS-approach and set up with the dual format. Whatever. Take one watch of some old-school, single course approach of yesteryear and tell me the following: It features less exciting courses that make less use of the terrain and provide the racers with less opportunity for strategy and various risk / reward in racer approach It makes poorer use of what alpine equipment can do The focus on a single rider at a time, from a broadcast / audience point of view is less engaging (due to having only one rider to watch at a time) It makes the sport appear less approachable for current-non participants because it bears no resemblance to beer league / NASTAR Reference documents (understand this is Super G):
  14. Thanks all. I just want to make sure the homework is done properly before I am accused of selling something to someone who cannot use it!
  15. As mentioned before possibly to someone else (but I believe you): you need to confirm is those outer inserts will accommodate a UPM plate. Possibly reach out to Kessler and ask.
  16. I still have the plate, yes. Also the GS board / plate which I am willing to negotiate on. Still have the complete set of Power Plates. SW uppers were sold.
  17. Nirvana energy 174cm, 22cm width, T4 torsion plus with a 12 /14 SC. HH nose, race tail. Softy is a 168cm Fawcet shape BXFR ( much more towards the BX), 27cm width, 10/12 SC. Both stiffened up for a 200+ pound rider. Delivery tomorrow. Pics forthcoming.
  18. Apex T1 for UPM here. PM me.
  19. Looking for a size Large pair... PM if you have one!
  20. So I have a jpm plate, and a UPM plate. UPM is an Apex T1. Great condition. Pm me if interested. $350
  21. Jpm insert spacing or UPM?
  22. Ok, some updates are needed. While the story is not yet complete, here are some updates and thoughts: They were not aware that NASTAR handicaps snowboarders differently than skiers. This was news to them. They were not aware that NASTAR tracks what equipment a racer uses. The impression was that everyone is a skier in NASTAR... this is hard for me to believe, but was mentioned in the response. They stated there are plenty of other beer leagues that do not adjust handicaps for snowboarders...Maesters, some night leagues (Bretton Woods), etc. Maybe true, but doesn't change the fact NASTAR is by far the largest amateur racing organization in the United States, and tends to be the template others follow. There is concern around adding higher starting posts: will this hamper starts for skiers? Very unlikely, in my opinion. I was asked if I needed one or two starting posts to be higher. Head scratcher, that one. Race committee leader spoke with two other snowboarders in the league, these were the snowboarder's thoughts: They were interested in discounting snowboard handicaps to account for the multiple disadvantages, but were not aware any other leagues or programs such as NASTAR did this already. As I am the only one competing against the skiers (they are not) they failed to see the benefit of awarding points based on handicap (or adjusted handicap) vs. time. For them it would be the same, true. However it would be a tremendous improvement for any snowboarder who actually desires to race. They are not interested in competing against skiers They "like" the low, useless starting posts. No idea why, or where their reference point is coming from. They were asked why there was a drop in year over year snowboard participation and responded that they "just wanted a year off". Not sure what to do with that comment, honestly. I think it speaks to the level / interest in racing from the EICSL snowboarders currently. Bear this in mind for the next point... The race committee member said all changes for snowboarders must be aligned with the current crop of snowboarders. This to me is catering to the lowest common denominator. If the current crop of boarders care very little about actually racing and have been incredibly clear on this subject, I suppose I am not understanding why we need to cater to them at all, as any change should be neutral to them given their approach (certainly none of my proposals would hamper the fun factor for them). Positive changes would on the other hand aid any boarder who cares to actually compete. On one hand, I understand the lack of concern for setting this league up to allow snowboarders to properly compete, and compete against skiers. No existing boarders aside from myself care. Really, I get this. However, this leaves me at a bit of a cross roads here. One the one hand I value participating in this league because I get to race with my father and wife. On the other hand this attitude and approach kind of insults my sensibilities as a boarder / competitor, an identity I carry very proudly and deeply as a part of my person. I suppose my options are: Quite altogether, just stick with USASA or something Continue to participate as is and deal with all the BS Switch to soft boots for EICSL and request to no longer be racing against the skiers, and just try to focus on having a fun day out with my father and wife I currently am leaning towards option #3, as I truly do value the family aspect although this seems like a crappy compromise. Happy to hear any thoughts / opinions.

    Now What?

Ace: I think your local-ish to MA. Any chance for a demo? I have boots, but no bindings / skwal. PM if this is a possibility. Mitch
