  3. I have been sitting on the couch for 25 days.......Air cast, Vicodin, MRI's, Dr's...Damn this sucks! Wife is in the cities for the weekend. Got sick of sitting around and said to the kids "Let's see if this cast fits in my boot so we can go riding." Took the liner out of my soft boots, added some socks and hit the slopes. 600 kids to dodge, but it was fun. My 4yo daughter's first day on a board, it was a blast. It felt great to just coast down the hill, ankle hurts but I think I'll take them out tomorrow...................

I don't know the size range. If you can give me a sole length I can grab a rental boot to see if they fit.

Burton Jr plates for sale. Great condition, 3d only but I think disc's from smaller bindings should work if you need the 4-hole. $30 plus shipping. Kenton
  7. I saw a board instruction video some years back where this dude put some people (no experience) on alpine boards with ski poles. He used blocks of varying heights that they held onto to learn body/board balance etc. The blocks kept getting smaller and by the end of the day they were carving pretty well..........with ski poles.
  8. The only thing that I would like better is if we lived in/near the mountains. The ski area that I coach/teach at is only 15 minutes away. Small, but with a free family pass we get plenty of riding each winter. My town is about 4000 people. Rochester (85,000) is 15 miles away. My wife works at the Mayo Clinic; so because of the benefits, we are "stuck" here. We own 65 acres to the south of us and 200 acres in Northern Minnesota and are trying to decide which one to retire on in 30 years. I grew up in SoCal so I miss the ocean and the mountains within fairly close driving distance. This is a great area to raise a family, decent boarding is close, and I can walk out my back door and hunt geese, pheasants, and deer. Yup, I like it.
  9. Wish I could have been there. Seems like there are more people every year! Maybe we could have another one in March if the weather holds. Sports Med doc say's that the ankle should be ready to ride on by then. I'll be at Buck on 1/21 with our D-Team. Maybe I can cram this cast into my soft boots w/o a liner and do some "gliding". Kenton
  10. We stayed at Grouse Mountain Lodge. They had shuttle service from the Amtrac station, to the mountain, and anywhere you needed to go in town.
  11. I don't even know if they are still around, but I saw Nitzer Ebb at San Diego State about 15 years age and they put on an awesome show. Got to meet Tony Hawk there so that was a bonus. Erasure also puts on a durn good live show.
  12. Trent, I am blaming the snow for the crashes. Have never had a season like this before. I am thinking of coming to welch to try out the new camera. I will still be on crutches but am going crazy sitting on the couch.
  13. At first glance it would appear that welch is making snow..........but on further investigation it is me spreading the snow out. No surgery is required for the leg, just Jerry Springer re-runs and vicodin.
  14. Yup. We have had rain all season and finally two inches of fresh "pow" on Sunday. Worst year I have ever seen. I ollied over a hunk of crap, landed in soft slush, folded the nose, flipped and the pain factor kicked in. Funny thing is that it broke right above my ankle and not boottop. Maybe I'll have my kids make a glitter shirt.
  15. Now that my leg is broken maybe I'll have more time to make useless posts to boost my count. Right now the Vicodin is talking. You could call me one of the "lurkers" who stops in every day but seldom posts. Maybe I am still gun-shy from the CMC days. I have ridden for 20 years and think I can ride pretty well, but shy away from most threads so I don't get ripped to pieces. I just enjoy riding as much as possible. Maybe one or twice a year I can ride with other hardbooters and it is a blast. I wish it could happen more often but I don't feel like driving almost two hours every weekend when I have a free pass 15 minutes up the road. At my ski area, I am the loner. I crank up the Bosstones every day and ride in my own world. This post is going nowhere so the last thing I have to say in this drug (legal) induced state is that in my kids eyes I am a snowboarding god..........that is all that counts.
  16. Not possible on staying "injury free". I am sitting on the couch with an air cast on my left leg. Ollied over a "whoop" today like we experienced during the carving cup, landed in some soft snow, folded the nose, flipped and had immediate pain. X-ray showed no fracture but a stress fracture might not show yet. Will know on Friday better what is going on but right now I am on crutches and can't put any weight on my leg. What a crap season. Anyway, it was fun to ride with everyone........see you next year I guess. :(
  17. Grooming would have been nice..........Two runs until the final would be better in case you had a crap run. I had alot of fun, although I will be bringing the MX helmet next year in case I decide to do another "chin stop".
  18. So would the Burner 197 work?
  19. I was thinking about coming up tomorrow if it is still on. What size board should I bring? Kenton
  20. No clue, but if I happen to get some pic's like those of Miss Nevada I'll send them your way...........without the stars.
  21. I spent most of the morning trying to scratch them damn stars off...... :D
  22. Try an army/navy surplus store, they have all kinds of cool things to choose from. Maybe you could find a couple of dummy hand grenades to hang from the g-suit. People might get out of the way faster.
  23. I've already taken the day off. Didn't even have to muster up a fake cough this year.
  24. My shoulder is ok, got a concussion and couldn't walk last night (my knee looked like a baseball). Today is better, I can walk and bend the knee but the head hurts a bit (probably do to the Finnegans from last night). I think I'm going to break down and get a pass for Welch. At least they have more than 2 runs open. I'll probably hold off on the knitting for awhile.
