  1. clowns. i like it. if i was there i woulda asked for a pic w/you guys. this year at RoundTop there was a guy with full cowboy clothing on. he was an actor, trying to promote himself apparently. keep up the good work.
  2. i've seen "bat man" video before, love that! you have to be an experienced skydiver to attempt that?
  3. man those conditions are unreal. nice and sunny too. what's the musical selection for day 1's riding? i like it.
  4. http://www.bomberonline.com/store/boots/raichle_sb_413.cfm $150. These are the boots I have, they are fine for me. Sizing is limited with this particular model, but you could be saving a lot of money. Some may argue "they are too soft" or "they are for beginners." Of course you will develop (or may already have) personal preferences, but I will generally work on my technique first b4 concluding I've reached the limit of my equipment. I recommend doing your research. alpinecarving.com is frequently very helfpful. There are other resources. Good luck and welcome!

    ebay newb ?'s

he just payed me and I had to upgrade my paypal account to receive the darn payment (wasn't aware of that). i'll take a look at the "send invoice" option closer next time, but when I previewed what the invoice would look like, a preferred method was already chosen. In this case it worked out and it was pretty simple. what's the upper limit of a postal scale and how much are they? thx Barry

    ebay newb ?'s

just sold my first item. I offered 3 shipping options. Do I have to contact teh buyer to know what he wants or when I click "send invoice" is teh firest choice what the buyer picked? What is the acceptable amount of time the buyer has from when he/she knows the total cost to pay? thx, Barry
  7. Serious, did you go try Pro fit? Mike T, I assume you are not on an HMO?
  8. was this on the autobahn system? avg speed? top speed? bike driver knew the road I assume? curious, Barry
  9. i can't bring myself to sell my Alp, my first Alpine board. I wanna see how it rides now that I've progressed. kudos to klugriding for being another outlet to buy this equipment- and cheaply , too (for teh most part)
  10. nice detective work, gotta love myspace. some criminals are so dumb these days. make him pay, hit em where it hurts.
  11. asking that question on this board. seriously..... agree with Pow, depends on what you're trying to accomplish and your style. i have a few riders I look up to (and I think they know who they are)
  12. i agree with kleb. i'm not even 100% convinced alpine boards are faster than good FR boards. local softie rider here regularly goes 45+, maxed at 54mph, has big cojones and just bombs runs. those speeds may not be overly fast out west, but considering how small the local mtns. are and the amount of people usually on them, it's enough to find trouble here if you're not riding aware of your surroundings. riding on edge, to me, at least feels much faster, maybe it's b/c of our body positioning, steeper angles, etc (or eve than lots of alpiners are higher on edge) i don't know. interesting topic though.

    A Memorial

I have a similar board (also thx to Donek), it's a neat tribute.
  14. i had good experiences with them, including returning a board. Chris himself replied to me once. A woman named Molly helped out greatly a few years ago. double check for the contact info or call Burton anyway and explain your situation. Also do a search for "klugriding" or something similar b/c this topic has come up and been addressed before. good luck.
  15. pro fit ski and skate is one of (if not the) best DC area bootfitters. Dudleydudley (another BOLer) will probably also agree, as will others. They're in leesburg, VA 777-SKIS (7547). I usually ask for Jeff and then Dave. google "pro fit ski skate" for their website, it's nothign great, but provides more info. good luck.
  16. i guess i'm a typical American. never liked math, but I'm naturally analytical and detail oriented, always wanna know "why." this is performance oriented style of riding, even recreationally. equations are taking it a bit far, though, for me anyhow.
  17. Jay Kay, singer for Jamiroquai wears that hat. He is awesome (and he rides) Respect the hat :D

    Burton Cant

fyi my board has an 18 cm waist. i filed it down, it works fine.
  19. so you did you totally ruin those boards, make them unrideable?
  20. I'm curious what others think re: base cleaner. The maint. video I have from tognar recommends it, as do a few knowledgable folks I know. Nek and others don't. what's the deal? ps why do you call houston "helltown?" good friend lives in "h town" and loves it. we do make fun of him a lot though -)
  21. I'd love to see you guys do your thing in person. Pics looked awesome. unfortuenately i'm in the carving "un-mecca" the Mid Atlantic. any recent vids of you crazy Europeans? =)
  22. awesome city, wish i had more time there. The Vatican (I'm not even Christian) is insane. Def. the Trevi Ftn is a major attraction, as is the collesium. tons of hotties on their little mopeds...they drive Nuts in Rome though! practice your jaywalking... Be wary round the train station (like many European cities, some shady folks) I was there in '99 though Barry ps check out the lonely planet (or similar) rome/italy version book from your local library and bring it with you. save some dough and the books are great

    USASA Nationals

to Neil and all his racers! Do the MA proud!
  24. knowledgeable riders who either won't post here, or who do so very seldom and so have a low post count, because in general the forum has NOTHING to offer them. this certainly is the case re: the high end riders I know. too much talk, too little riding, too many self appointed experts. some of them don't even know the site (probably b/c theyr'e too busy riding!)
  25. yeah i just "discovered" this technique this past weekend. seems relatively easy, extra padding round the knees (specially if the snow is hard/icy) may increase comfort when doing this. I imagine doing when falling heelside may be a bit harder, almost like a crunch. JohnStewart, the Eliminator tongues i have are foam, shaped in the shape of a leg.
