    Yo Lci!!

The banquet is a MUST DO! No questions asked. I scored a set of bindings there along with a second board kit, wax and scrapers. All for the price of ?? I dont' remember the price as it has been too long since I have been to SES but you must attend the banquet.
  2. I ride a dual sport. I like to take it into the back country to find hidden creeks and streams to fly fish! In this pic, the road ended abruptly!
  3. I wear mine 24/7 after being knocked unconscious and left for dead while on a road bike ride. I was riding a bike path and had a pedestrian decide he wanted to be on the opposite side of the path walking with his buddies so he jumped right in front of me while trying to get to the other side after warning them of my presence and direction. I hit him in the right side of his back with my bars which threw me off high side. I flew through the air and finally impacted the ground on my ass going backwards, slamming my head into the ground. I was out cold, helmet shattered and me laying there on the asphalt. Those bastards took off without calling EMS, left me on the ground. Not sure how long I was out for but another pedestrian came by and rendered what aid she could and called 911. I had my cell phone in my saddle bag but EMS didn't check for it. I had no labels, wallet or anything telling authorities who I was. A John Doe laying in a hospital ER. I came to but could not remember much. I did ask where my bike was and that my phone was in the bag, the hospital contacted the Fire Station who transported my bike and they were able to pull contact info off of my phone. After that, I made a commitment to my family to wear my Road ID everytime I go into the backcountry to fish or bike. I purchased one of those velcro bands but frequently forgot to put it on. I ended up ordering a bracelet that I wear all the time with my name, no know allergies, parents number, brothers number and a few other tidbits. I never want to be a John Doe again!
  4. Awesome story, glad to see that you were able to recover your property due to the due diligence of fellow carvers here on BOL. Kind of gives me a warm fuzzy feeling thinkng that BOL members go to great lengths to help recover stolen property
  5. If I can mustard the energy I mayo go up both weekends!
  6. speaking with CarvingChef the other day he will be there along with Arclite on the 6th but for the rest of us we can move it to the following weekend. I have a pass so I am flexible to any of the days.
  7. I opt for moving it to the following weekend. Snow Summit is selling out on the weekends during the holidays. I wouldn't want people to come up only to be told "no tickets available".
  8. It might be more crowded than years past as most schools will still be on Christmas break on the day of ASSES. Another thought is traffic going down the mtn maybe horrendous on Sunday afternoon
  9. nice score on the 4x4 metal discs Lamberto! I missed it by a few minutes! Got any more 4x4 discs Ironbird, binding or cant?
  10. My allegiance is to Snow Summit as they are the closest resort for me. I like that they have some nice groomers without any features on them that carvers can enjoy. Chair 7 and 10 areas are great with near perfect pitches and relatively light crowds on those two chairs. Grooming is always top notch. Terry W and I were up there on Thursday for a morning session of carving and the snow was great on Summit Run and Miracle Mile. Chair 7 did open while we were there so we took a trip over there and found the snow to be hard. It needed a groomer on it to make it good which has happened in the last two days and they also opened Log Chute all the way to the bottom. Should be good conditions as this storm moves in and will keep the temps down. Hope this helps I am sure there are a few Mtn High advocates out there, you know who you are. I have only skied at Mtn High so I can't give you true perspective so I will leave that up to Lance and George, Theo too if he sees this post/
  11. starcarver, how long have you been carving? If you are starting out or have a few runs in hardboots I might have a board for you. It is a Burton Coil, 172cm. It is an all mountain shape, rounded tail, sidecut radius is approx 10metes It is a great board for someone getting into carving. I had it sitting in my rack waiting for my friends to use it but none of them wanted to. Time to move it out to a better home. I also have a pair of Trenchdigger 1 standard with Burton 3d mounting discs or a pair of Burton Race plate bindings that will work.
  12. Just clicked on how to setup TD3s. While Fin explains it nicely the captioning at the bottom leaves you questioning some of the steps! http://youtu.be/TE1JBBw-8zo
  13. Let me jump in here also. I have a Burton Coil also, size is 172cm. It is a sold blue in color. Hasn't been used for a few years. I kept it around so my friends could try an alpine board but only one has used it. Top sheet has some lift line scuffs and the bottom is in near perfect condition. Never been ground so there is plenty of base left for future tunes
  14. Terry and I had a good first day of carving. We were heading up the lift shortly after 8:30. Snow Condition was very carvable. Started to get a bit crowded and then they opened Chair 7. Terry and I shot over there but the snow was pretty hard. We stayed one run and ventured back over to Miracle Mile and Summit Run where snow was much better. We left around 12:00
  15. Andrea... carvingchef Julian..... Arclite. Lance..... Slopestar/ I'm a tentative as I was plannig on racing GS at Mt High on Saturday, possibly Sunday too. Shannon.... MTB_DH11 Aaron....oldvolvosrule. I will be on a carving BOARD for the duration. I felt like the bastard child out there last year
  16. Nice video. I like the super slo mo, you're able to see just what kind of flexing the ski goes through during its arc.
  17. Ha ha, made you look! Nothing to speak of in Big Bear, talking with my corporate buddy at Summit they may shutdown midweek to preserve what they have for the weekenders. There is a chance of possible cooler temps for the beginning of December. I want to go snowboarding!
  18. nice looking rides Bigs! You're not running a boiler or donek plate on your boards? Why? One more thing,,, are those Cateks mounted on that Virus??
  19. AaronG

    Yo Lci!!

any pics of the new stick Bigs? 195cm? I know Virus doesn't publish a SCR for their boards but what is it approx?
  20. Summit is opening tomorrow, Monday for Miracle Mile , intermediate skiers and boarders only. I think I will wait a few days more to see if they can open some other stuff before I head up..
  21. Try the Bomber store, they are for Ibex but they are the same as Burton Race Plates http://bomberonline.3dcartstores.com/Ibex-Toe-Assembly_p_40.html
  22. Summit is currently pumping over 6000 gallons per minute up the mtn. This is running at maximum output for snowmaking.. the pumps in the lake pump the water up to the upper reservoirs. The water in the reservoirs drains into the pumphouse and pressurize and distribute it all over the mtn. Currently they are trying to open Miracle Mile and Summit Run. Once they get those open they will concentrate their efforts on opening other terrain. If you haven't seent this video it explains what they are doing up there. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/W-ZzZh2WBtg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  23. Bear Mtn is opening on Monday, Snow Summit hasn't made an announcement yet
  24. Just checked the Summit snowmaking site and they are sending 4000+ gallons per minute up the hill. The highest rate I have ever seen on their snowmakng was 6000 gallons per minute. If they can continue to make snow throught out the day tomorrow I would anticipate an opening of early next week. I will let you know as soon as I hear from one of my higher up friends at Summit
  25. Tear it up Theo! Don't dig your trenches too deep, you may hit rock bottom
